Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) evolve with clients' changing needs and are often well-suited for clients exiting inpatient rehab and those at an increased relapse risk. These programs typically involve between nine and 20 hours of treatment weekly, with the intensity and frequency of care decreasing as clients stabilize. Most intensive outpatient rehabs integrate a variety of treatment modalities to maintain a high level of individualized care. Services generally include counseling, recovery education, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Clients who are exiting detox or stepping down from intensive inpatient care typically transition directly into outpatient treatment. Outpatient programs are designed to allow clients to either re-enter or remain in their communities while receiving robust, personalized care. Many facilities offer evening, night, or weekend services to accommodate clients' home and work schedules. The most common outpatient treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Telehealth is the use of telecommunications technologies to facilitate long-distance healthcare. Through telehealth in North Carolina, you may receive health education, counseling support, medication support, or medical consultations. Common technologies utilized include streaming media, store-and-forward imaging, and videoconferencing.

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder, commonly called alcoholism, involves an inability to control the amount or frequency you drink and feeling withdrawal symptoms when you don't drink. Treatment for alcohol addiction may involve residential or outpatient alcohol rehab in North Carolina, counseling, or 12-step programs. Typically, some form of professional treatment and support is necessary to achieve long-term recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

North Carolina offers substance abuse treatment programs that provide a holistic and evidence-based approach. Through a comprehensive mental health assessment, addiction experts can provide an individualized care plan specific to your needs. You can expect most rehabs programs to provide individual and group therapy, recovery meetings, and evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Depending on your circumstances and severity of addiction, you may need more intensive care. Levels of care include outpatient, residential inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization. By choosing the right level of care, you're more likely to succeed in long-term recovery.

Drug and alcohol rehab programs that simultaneously treat mental health disorders are known as dual diagnosis centers. The specialized programs recognize that mental health conditions affect the whole person - physical, emotional, and spiritual. That's why mental health is at the center of many different dual diagnosis therapies, including individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma therapy, family support therapy, and more.

In North Carolina, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs focus on providing integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses. You can generally expect a range of programs, including intensive outpatient, inpatient residential, and partial hospitalization options. Therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed therapy, and family therapy address both disorders and promote mental health and well-being, giving you the tools to sustain long-term recovery.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Clients who receive cognitive behavioral therapy in North Carolina typically attend five to 20 sessions. During this time, they work with their therapist to learn healthier patterns of thinking, which can help them change their behavior related to substance use.

Counseling that applies dialectical behavior therapy teaches you coping skills to apply to your daily life. The focus is on intense emotions and developing coping mechanisms to manage them. Therapy sessions are a series of teaching lessons that help you develop these coping skills.

Avoid this practice at all costs. As long as you have insurance and/or cash available to them they will say and do any and everything they can to pacify you and your situation' making it feel like they're the answer and support partner you need. Take the rose colored glasses off. This practice does not and will not care about you at all. All they care about is the money. The practice will help you until they won't. If they're not getting anything out of it then they will flat out refuse to help you. They'll fill out FMLA/STD paper work if you agree to begin their IOP "program". Once you stop going to the program or complete the program they will no longer fill out forms for you- even after you've chosen them to be your primary care provider for now after the program and into the future. Please do yourself a favor and seek care elsewhere.

Response from the owner
Hi Curt, we are sorry for your distress and disappointed that you decided to cancel the informational meeting set up with our medical director and CEO so that we could better explain the federal requirements needed to support certain types of paperwork. Despite your decision to carry through on your threat to post this review, which you sent to us to read ahead of time, we still welcome the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with you, hear your feedback, and resolve any concerns. As always, it is the mission of TWR to provide exceptional, client centered, and ethical care to all individuals

I have been working with Dr. Koenig for at least 18 months. She is known to be phenomenal at addiction medicine, but her talents don't end there. I see her for trauma/mental health issues and her help has been top notch all the way. I've spent about 26 weeks in Triangle's Intensive Out Patient program and regard the group room as one of the safest, most comfortable places I have been in my healing journey. I could go on and on about the many merits of the program and Dr. K, but I'll just say that if you are ready to grow and change, this is the best place to start!

Response from the owner
Charlotte, thank you for such a kind review. We are honored to be part of your healing journey :)

They won’t even talk to you until you spend an hour filling out online paperwork. Then they tell you nobody is available to see until later in the year. Don’t waste your time and energy with this place.

Response from the owner
Charles, I am very sorry to hear that this was your experience. It is true that currently we have a waitlist for therapy. Depending on the medical/psych provider you want to see, there may be a waitlist as well. We will ensure that our staff relays this information up front to new potential clients. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
