About Walden Behavioral Care
Based in Guilford, Connecticut, Walden Behavioral Care was a mental health and drug rehab. It once served teens aged 12 and older, as well as adults and senior citizens. LGBTQIA+ folks were also welcome. Medicaid and other state-funded health plans were accepted, along with military and private health insurance providers, and self-pay.
While this center is now closed, similar services are available at nearby locations in Connecticut.
Residential and Outpatient Addiction Treatment in Guilford
Residential care was offered here, providing intensive behavioral and substance abuse treatment services for individuals with more severe struggles. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) was a step down from this, offering structured and intensive day treatment. Participants of this program were able to return to the comfort of their homes in the evenings following a packed day of treatment.
Along with more intensive options, standard outpatient services were also available here. These were available on a flexible schedule to accommodate various work, study, and childcare routines. Participants engaged in individual and group counseling sessions, engaging with therapeutic styles like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Family involvement was heavily encouraged to support treatment, particularly for teens.
Creative Treatment Methods
Along with more traditional treatment methods, a holistic approach was also favored. So, it wouldn’t have been unusual for clients to find themselves taking part in art therapy, mindfulness meditation sessions or yoga. Clients could also benefit from visits to the local Guilford Art Center, which offered art classes and workshops that could be integrated into therapeutic activities.
