About Ace Recovery for Men – ARM

Ace Recovery for Men (ARM) in Chesterfield, South Carolina, is a private nonprofit men’s retreat where you can get away and recover from drug and alcohol addiction. They are a 24 hour clinically managed residential program that helps you step away from community and home distractions to undergo addiction treatment. You begin with a social detoxification program to build a foundation of stability, and you can also choose a specialized length of stay for DWI or DUI education and treatment services.

The program uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help you develop practical tools to change the way you think, feel and behave. Their behavioral groups focus on skill building sessions led by a certified cognitive therapist. This approach helps you learn within group sessions and provides relapse prevention strategies and healthy coping mechanisms that promote lasting recovery.

The residential facility offers a structured living schedule which helps guide you into a systematic way of developing healthy behaviors. This prepares you to re-enter the community while gaining the benefits of rehab away from community distractions. Their therapy builds on the spiritual principles found in Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, providing men with a structured and therapeutic approach using a 12 Step program.

Within their 12 step program you receive therapeutic coaching in a safe and understanding community that is guided by compassionate and experienced addiction specialists. The road to your recovery can have its own set of challenges which is why they’ve created a space that’s specifically designed for men. They offer a range of counseling options that embrace a holistic perspective.

It absolutely changed my life. I’ve been through many rehabs in search of happiness outside of me. Looking to be fixed. This place teaches you that as long as you look outside of yourself for the answers to what’s going on inside yourself you will fail, that being said this place merely gives you the tools of recovery and a guide to use them. That being the main concept at this place is why I believe I finally succeeded. The program counselor is a no BS brilliant educator and will absolutely be an unforgettable force in your recovery. It’s the most affordable place in the country as far as no insurance cash payment. The environment is beautiful, the rules or “expectations” are absolutely understandable if you’re a reasonable adult so moral is always high amongst the guys, the kind of learning you receive is engaging, thought provoking, useful and fun, and also there’s a dog! I used to think the spirituality thing in recovery was corny nonsense. This place taught me it’s the key to leading a healthy life, being the best father, being the best husband, being the best servant of God as I know him. I will remain spiritually fit because of the tools and methods this program so so kindly provided me with. Thank you to Counselor Jeff!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA). Twelve Step Facilitation is an evidenced-based treatment approach that has been proven to be successful in treating people with both alcohol and other drug disorders. TSF is a comprehensive therapy that addresses three dimensions of recovery: social/behavioral, cognitive, and spiritual. The goal of TSF is to facilitate active involvement in a fellowship of peers that supports recovery.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Choosing a drug rehab in South Carolina helps you overcome drug dependency, learn how to manage cravings, and obtain the tools needed to prevent relapse. This is accomplished through individualized treatment that addresses a full spectrum of physical, social, and emotional needs.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse. ARM also provides a computerized based CBT program that uses movies and examples to teach new skills. These skills will help men respond in healthier ways when faced with everyday life challenges during their recovery. The CBT strategies, which adjusts unhealthy thoughts and feelings, will reduce cravings for chemicals more than standard treatment alone. Also, the participants' reduced desire to use will tend to last even longer after treatment ends with this evidenced-based model.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
