Located in Fairfield, Connecticut, is the Center for Discovery Fairfield. This is a residential treatment facility that supports both women and females who identify as non-binary. There’s a judgment free approach to care here, and you’ll be supported in the way you need.

This center specializes in helping you work through various eating disorders. However, they’ll also support you if you have a co-occurring mental health or substance use diagnosis alongside an eating disorder.

Home-Like Environment

The Fairfield Residential Treatment Center is very welcoming. Operating out of an upscale residence, they provide treatment in a setting that is home-like rather than the clinical atmosphere of a hospital or medical facility. Center For Discovery residences are known for their comfy furniture, calming colors and inspiring artwork.

Evidence Based Care

Whether the eating disorder was caused by your substance struggle or vice versa, you’ll find care through evidence based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. These therapies help you unpack experiences and behaviors that are fueling your health struggles. Through exposure and response prevention, you’ll work through the complex emotions that push you toward destructive habits.

It s hard to believe that in a couple of months it will be two years since I walked into the doors of Center for Discovery Congress. My time at CFD was truly transformative. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warmth, compassion, and an incredible level of care. The staff therapists, dietitian, and counselors were not only knowledgeable but deeply invested in my healing journey and SO extremely patient with me.What made my experience so impactful was the holistic approach to recovery. They didn t just focus on my eating disorder; they helped me address the underlying trauma that contributed to it. Through specialized trauma work, I was able to process past experiences in a safe and supportive environment. The therapy sessions, whether group or one-on-one, gave me the tools to navigate my emotions, build resilience, and truly begin healing from the inside out.Beyond the incredible care, one of the most meaningful parts of my journey was the connections I formed with others in treatment. Being surrounded by individuals who truly understood my struggles created a sense of belonging I had never felt before. The friendships I built during my time at CFD became a source of strength and encouragement, reminding me that I was never alone in this process. We supported each other through the ups and downs, celebrated victories big and small and formed bonds that will last a lifetime. The environment itself was nurturing and free of judgment, allowing me to focus entirely on recovery. Every meal was a step forward, supported by professionals who understood the complexities of my struggles. They gave me the tools to helped start rebuilding my relationship with food, my body, and most importantly, myself.Center for Discovery Congress gave me hope when I felt lost. They empowered me with the strength and skills to move forward, not just in my recovery from an eating disorder, but in my overall healing from trauma. I am forever grateful for their kindness, patience, and unwavering support. If you or a loved one are struggling, I wholeheartedly recommend Center for Discovery you will be in the best hands possible, surrounded by a community that truly cares.

I was at Center for Discovery for 5 and a half months. Out of all the 31 treatment places I have been this one was by far the best. The staff are amazing and so caring and really have all the clients best interest in mind. You are not just another client you become part of the congress house where everyone cares so deeply about everyone. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is getting the right treatment that is good for them. I liked how individualized each person s treatment was. I am very lucky that I got to have Angela as my therapist. Angela helped me in more ways than I could ever express. This in it s own shows how amazing and devoted the staff are to ensuring each person s recovery. Angela was going on call (leaving as the full time therapist) but stayed an extra three months to be my therapist until I discharged. The clinical director Sam took vacation days so that Angela could come in and see me (technically Angela wasn t supposed to come in because she was on call). because Sam knew how important it was for my recovery to continue the work with Angela. I have never been to any other treatment center that would do that or even think about doing that. That in itself made a huge impact on me that they were willing to go out of their ways to ensure I get the best possible treatment. Sam is an amazing clinical director and I really look up to her a lot. Some of the staff have been there for 8-10 years which is rare for ed treatment centers. That in itself shows how great Sam is. The groups were all great as well and the counselors are all amazing. I learned so many coping skills that I implement into my everyday life. You can also check in with your therapist as many times as you need and you can also check in with the other therapist s as well. Dorcas and all the nurses are also amazing and go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is okay. Dr. B the medical doctor is the best doctor I have ever met in my life. I looked forward to seeing her every week!If you have the opportunity to go to this specific cfd location I 100% recommend it! It is honestly life changing.

This is my second time coming to CFD Congress Location, I had left AMA the first time and it was the WORST decision of my life. I relapsed almost immediately but this made me realize that unlike other treatment programs, this program works HARD to heal deeper psychological situations contributing to your eating disorder. From every counselor (Allyson, Katie, Rosa, Jordan, Kim, Tasha, etc) , nurse (Aiasha, Dorcas, Debbie, Tiana, Shantel, etc.) therapist (Angela, Saer, Melissa, Lauren) to dietician (Simone) they work to know every aspect of your person in order to appropriately treat you. The work toward recovery is long, difficult, and emotionally exhausting but the staff AND program director (Samantha) are there for you in the wink of an eye. There is a camaraderie between the patients and staff that is not present in ANY other program; where they just check a list for recovery as if it is an equation. Staff works with insurance to make sure you have adequate enough time to truly heal and recover physically and mentally. When the world feels unsafe, this house is a safe haven for those with eating disorders and trauma. This program also prepares you to continue your recovery in the outside world where you may be surrounded by a toxic culture or environment. True recovery and freedom from your eating disorder begins at CFD Congress location.

Accepted Insurance

Center for Discovery Fairfield works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy offers insight into behavioral patterns and triggers. This can lead to a better understanding of your addictive behaviors, which in turn promotes sobriety and sustainable recovery. You can share your experiences and strategies you use to overcome triggers and learn new strategies from your peers.

Individual therapy uses evidence based treatment modalities to focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance between yourself and your therapist. This crucial relationship fosters trust that enables you to discuss your struggles and work together to develop effective strategies to overcome addiction.

During couples therapy in Connecticut, you will learn skills such as problem solving, conflict resolution, and anger management. The goal is to develop techniques that will help you successfully navigate relationship challenges.

Family therapy sessions work to strengthen the family unit by addressing addiction related conflicts and fostering support between family members. Your therapist guides family members in developing effective communication strategies and creating an environment that aids in your loved one's recovery.

CFD Congress is TRULY an incredibly special place. As someone currently in their program (Jan. 2025), I cannot emphasize enough how life changing my experience has been thus far. I have been to countless treatment programs since 2015 and I can confidently say that Congress is a place where pure healing occurs. Likely similar to someone seeking treatment once again after a detailed history, I have had my share of being cycled in and out of facilities. Due to tough events, it has been easy to come online and speak about said programs from a space of emotional distress. We all deserve a space to voice our experience and not every facility honors that; which calls for painful depictions of hurt online. With that being said, this is one place that I cannot even imagine writing a painful experience about... because it is the exact opposite. CFD Congress has seen me as a human being and an individual who is worthy of love and support (something I'm still learning to give myself). From the treatment team (Sam, Simone, Saer, Lauren), to the counselors, to the nurses and cleaning staff -- top to bottom Congress is filled with hope and possibility and the opportunity to break free from the horrors many walk in with. I recommend this facility to anyone and everyone who is seeking a recovery journey that will have staff and environment meet your inner wish for building that life you so desperately deserve. I am beyond grateful to be here and would love for you to have the same experience. Recovery is available to all, give yourself the option of freedom!

I cannot recommend The Center for Discovery enough. I had the pleasure of working in collaboration with them, supporting their clients through psychological evaluations. What I appreciate most about the Center for Discovery is that the clinicians don’t just sit across from you in a clinical, detached way—they are in it with you. They share in your tears and your laughter, offering both empathy and strength in equal measure. They genuinely want what is best for their clients and are not afraid to actively pursue that even if it goes outside of the box. What sets the Center for Discovery apart is their unwavering commitment to walking alongside you on your journey, offering a sense of companionship and healing that is rare to find. They truly provide a refuge - a home away from home. I feel incredibly grateful to have been asked to aid with their client services, and I know that anyone who seeks services here will be in the best of hands.

I’m not sure if a google review can really express just how amazingly supported, heard, and validated I felt from all the staff, the entire team, at Congress St; how incredible everyone that works there is! I will also add that it was a much different (positive) experience than past treatment and I am grateful for that.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
We are so glad you felt supported, heard, and validated at CFD! Keep up the hard work. We are rooting for you!

Reflecting on my time at the Center of Discovery on Congress fills me with overwhelming gratitude and warmth. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of love and care that I had never experienced before. The staff members at the Center are truly exceptional individuals who go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of every resident. Throughout my entire stay, they not only provided professional support but also formed genuine connections that made us feel like one big family. I am hard-pressed to find a single negative aspect of my experience at the Center. Every interaction, every moment spent there was filled with positivity and encouragement. They took what seemed like an impossible situation and turned it into a journey of growth and possibility. Their unwavering patience and support were instrumental in my progress, and I am forever grateful for their dedication. Even now, a year later, I am confident that if I were to reach out to any of the staff members, they would respond with the same level of compassion and support. The bonds formed during my time at the Center are not easily broken, and I carry the lessons learned and the love received with me wherever I go. I wholeheartedly recommend the Center of Discovery on Congress to anyone in need, knowing that they will find the same experience that I did.

I was at CFD this past fall and could not be more grateful for the care and treatment that I received there. ALL of the staff at CFD were compassionate, understanding, and provided the best care I could have possibly asked for. Everyone from the nursing staff to the diet techs would take the time to listen to you and help you through the tough moments. I appreciated how they pushed you to see things through a different lense and to really understand where your emotions and reactions were coming from. Sam, the program director, is an amazing person. She is so knowledgeable and just really sees people and helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. Also, had the privilege of having Angela as my therapist and she is just amazing. Just like anything, you get out what you put into something. If you are willing to put the work in, the people at CFD are there to lovingly support you every step of the way. It is hard to express how much I truly appreciate everyone at the Congress Street house and all that I got from being there. I don’t think you will find better treatment anywhere else.
