About Continuum of Care
Continuum of Care (COC) is a well-established nonprofit organization headquartered in Connecticut that provides numerous types of mental health, educational, and social services to those facing serious mental health challenges and disabilities. Their facility in Meriden, Connecticut, is one of their 60+ locations and serves as the area’s long term residential support house.
Expertise in Housing Those with Intellectual Disabilities
One of their biggest focuses is to help individuals with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring conditions live as independently as possible while still having all the help they need. They do this by providing a place to stay, social services, mental health treatments, and opportunities for work and community engagement.
Within the scope of these mental healthcare and social services, they provide help for those struggling with addictions. Not only do they provide counseling and case management services, but they also provide access to various resources that a person in this situation can rely upon to build themselves up.
Integrated Mental Health and Substance Counseling
For those with substance use disorders, COC can provide substance counseling as its own service or as part of a broader mental health treatment plan. Psychotherapy, group therapy, grief counseling, and suicide prevention counseling are interventions they can offer to help you not only overcome an addiction but also deal with any co-occurring conditions you may face.
Additionally, they can help individuals who need a safe space to live by offering a spot in one of their supportive housing locations. From here, you’ll be able to focus on your healing journey while having near consistent contact with other COC staff. These supportive housing locations can be found all around Connecticut, making it easier to find one closer to your loved ones.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
Clinical Services
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
