About Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound is a nonprofit behavioral health care agency that offers addiction recovery services in The Colony, Texas. The organization was founded in 1980 and is one of the largest nonprofit treatment agencies in the state. When individuals get started with recovery, they’ll be assigned a treatment that helps them to manage their journey. This location offers outpatient treatment and medication assisted treatment.

They strive to use evidence-based practices to ensure they’re giving their clients the medical, psychological, and emotional help they need for a healthy life. Individuals will need to schedule an appointment beforehand before going to the facility.

The services clients can expect in outpatient treatment include education, peer support, and group counseling. Patients will learn more about addiction and recovery and start to develop their coping skills. They’ll also be able to participate in a 12 Step program. The amount of time individuals are in outpatient treatment can vary based on individual needs, but it will typically last three to four months. That time will include six individual counseling sessions and 14 group sessions.

Homeward Bound also offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) that prescribes buprenorphine to help with easing withdrawal symptoms. Buprenorphine works by blocking the euphoric effects of opioids and alcohol, providing a client relief from cravings and normalizing their bodily functions. As clients move past the withdrawal phase, medical providers will work out a timeline to taper them off the medication and start rebuilding healthy patterns. Patients are allowed to attend outpatient therapy sessions while they’re undergoing medication assisted treatment.

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
