About Teen Challenge – Oahu Christian Life School
Teen Challenge Oahu Christian Life School is a faith-based program in Honolulu, Hawaii serving young men working through life-controlling problems including substance abuse.
As a designated second-phase site within the Teen Challenge of the Hawaii Islands network, the program emphasizes accountability, discipleship, employable job skills and drug- and alcohol-free living.
The team believes lasting recovery is built through faith, structure and practical restoration that prepares students for productive lives beyond treatment.
Faith-Based Residential Recovery for Men
The Oahu campus offers residential care designed specifically for men completing the final phase of the Teen Challenge program.
Because this site serves later-stage students rather than new admissions, the focus is on deepening growth and reinforcing healthy patterns established earlier in recovery.
Programming combines Bible-based courses, individual study and personal mentoring with therapy. Students also participate in life skills training, work ethic development and recreational activities.
Discipleship, Mentoring, and Job Readiness
A defining feature of the Honolulu program is its emphasis on practical restoration through Christian discipleship paired with employable skill-building.
Students engage with the local Christian community, build accountability and develop the work habits needed to transition successfully back into everyday life.
The program operates in person and serves Oahu as part of the larger Teen Challenge of the Hawaii Islands network spanning multiple islands.

Levels of Care
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
