The new outpatient facility was a welcome change. Having someone accompany me to the exam area and another to accompany me to the clinic office and then take my vitals was friendly, well coordinated and efficient. The X-ray technician answered my questions after listening to my concerns.
Dr Ravel was helpful in explaining some pain I was having leaving me reassured. He also didn’t shy away from my old man ramblings.
I left feeling I was invited to return anytime should concerns arise.

Where do I start...Checked into Burkwood on 09/25/2023 a shell of the person i once was for my 8th attempt at treatment a hopeless dope addict and the man who left 42 days later was almost unrecognizable as the same person. I am going to keep this short and to the point. This place saved my life! To anyone who has been to treatment before and failed to stay sober after I have an easy recipe for success i will lay out for you and if it worked for me it can work for anyone and here it is. Call burkwood make a plan, show up, Surrender(#1 biggest thing you have to do) and by that i mean just give in to the process and listen to what they are saying even when you want to question why just do what they are telling you they are not doing what their doing for any other reason then it flipping works, next is get involved and share with your peers and last but not least don't leave till they tell you your ready to and follow their recommendations its just that easy! The food at burkwood was amazing the staff was amazing and the accommodations overall were also amazing! Special thanks to Cheryl, Kelly M, Will, Kevin, Jake, Aaron and that's just a few of the people who made my recovery possible and as magical as it was!

I've been struggling with addiction for over 30 years and have managed to be free from active addiction for 5 years.
I have gone from taking 24mg per day of Suboxone daily down to the equivalent of 8mg per day! All of the staff are super friendly and their goal is to help you be successful. The PA listens to you carefully and he will suggest and prescribe medication to aid you to reach your goals. The counselor will work with you to set up a plan for your recovery and listens intently to you to help you reach the goals you have set. She has helped me in numerous ways to overcome anxiety issues that were blocking my path. I believe the whole staff have truly saved my life.

I've been taking my brother to the VA for the past 5 years and I am here to tell you that the Milwaukee VA is excellent! Every employee we have encountered there has been top notch! The valets, front desk, speech therapist, physical therapists, occupational therapists, eye clinic, neurologist and home health care team....ALL of these people gave my brother the best care he has ever received in his entire life! I cannot say enough good things about the home health care team! Heather, Rachel, Natalie, Sadhana- the most caring people I have ever met and they made my brother's life so much better and made sure he always had the best care! They never stopped advocating for him and looking out for his best interest. We are so grateful to everyone at the VA for providing top notch care for my brother during his long illness all the way up until his recent death. Everyone at this facility were so welcoming and warm hearted people! If you go through this program and really put the work and effort in, what they teach you here is so worth investing in yourself.
I encourage anyone to try this place out. Doesn't hurt to try, especially when you need help and sometimes don't realize how much.
They are well educated staff, and really take the time to show you that you matter! They gave me all the tools I needed and more and I feel stronger because I tried at Wellbrook!!! They deserve way more than 5 stars. I appreciate all the people I met at Wellbrook, I appreciate the open meetings (A lot came from having the option to start open meetings while being under care at Wellbrook/having that practice at Wellbrook and having those comforting meetings), I appreciate the group therapy (which it's now been hard for me to find group meeting like theirs. Their group meetings were and are the best ones I've found so far)

All the patients have always spoken highly of their experience. The staff are not only professional but caring. All the staff I've encountered have been very polite and welcoming. Although I have nothing to compare this program to, I found my care to be top notch. Okay, the beds are a bit hard but the doctors, social workers and the nurses (almost forgot to mention the OT folks) were incredibly kind and effective. In my opinion, the inpatient program is as successful as the work you put into it. There is no magic cure; just need to pull yourself up by the britches and dive in.
Oh- the food is quite good as well!
I would highly recommend this inpatient psychiatric programming!

Connections Counseling is by far the best place I have ever been to for therapy and treatment. My therapist is insightful, inspiring, relatable and very knowledgeable. I recently completed my stay at this rehab facility, and I truly can't say enough good things about it. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for. The staff is absolutely incredible—so kind, compassionate, and attentive. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels seen and heard.
The kitchen staff deserves a special shoutout too. You can tell they genuinely care about what they’re doing, and the meals reflect that care and attention.
What really sets this place apart is the culture. It’s positive, respectful, and empowering. Melissa, who leads the facility, has created an environment where residents are treated like adults. She trusts people to make the right choices and supports them along the way, which makes all the difference. That trust and mutual respect create a space that’s not only healing but also enjoyable and even fun.

Wood Violet by far exceeded my expectations. I have been to another Sunshine facility in the past, but WVR surpassed that experience by leaps and bounds. I admitted on January 2nd and they had only been accepting clients for about 45 days or so.
Even though they were "new," the staff and facility operated as if they had been open for years. I cannot stress enough the personal feel you get as a client at WVR. Their customer service was awesome.
I hope I never have to return, but if I do WVR will be the place I head to!

Inpatient is an absolute joke and needs some serious improvements and that's where the vast majority of these poor reviews come from. But as someone who spent a full 30 days in Herrington (the Addiction Recovery Unit) I can say without a doubt that they saved my life. Not all staff is perfect and the food is rarely good but other than that I'd highly recommend the Addiction and/or Mental Health unit(s). Just stay away from inpatient care.

Even when going to the ER after my visit with her, and there they said they thought it was something minimal, I went to a specialist and it turned out that Dr. Bolden was right in the beginning. Troy Lee and Sabrina Spatz are single-handedly the reason for the growth I've had in my mental health. To be honest based on the last place(arbor mental health services) I tried seeking help from with my mental health and the "answers" I got from that place made me very learly/nervous to reach out to anyone ever again to seek assistance with my mental health.
Seeing the reveiws on NCHC made me even more worried that I was going to be treated like another number or just another person with a list of problems that don't matter. After a few sessions With Troy and Sabrina i realized quickly with how they communicated with me and how they treated me that I knew I was in the right place with people who actually cared and wanted to see my mental health successes.
What Ive come to realize is that I get and understand the rap that this place gets. To be honest alot of it is probably people who are upset because they aren't getting what they want or what they think they need.
Troy and Sabrina are the type of people who will listen to what you have to say, apply your situation to what they have learned and what they have been taught and will apply their knowledge to your situation for the best mental outcome of whatever it is your trying to accomplish mentally.
Hats off to Troy Lee and Sabrina Spatz. You guys are what the mental health field truly needs to be able to find success in your mental health. The industry needs more people like Troy and Sabrina.

There was another guy that was born a mouse and now is growing into a rat, He smoked weed the whole Time. Made it hard to focus on my recovery. Then he did the perky dance right outta here. Overall, I like Mayo. Good care. But... Recently was told that they have canceled their patient shuttle service which has been a huge plus for those of us with mobility issues. Getting to the front door of the clinic from the parking lot that is a few Hundred Yards away becomes incredibly difficult if not impossible.
After driving 35 miles to make my appointment, I shouldn't have to hire a taxi to get to the front door from the parking lot.
Apparently, this is a "cost-saving" measure that only ends up costing the patient.
