This program is a JOKE!! I am not on the program but tenants of this program were moved into my neighborhood and they are not all rehabilitated. They wonder around what used to be a nice neighborhood begging for money or asking for crack in The Elms Apts. I complain to the Connections manager and they stated “they are not here to watch them.” So instead you just dump them off over here so we are stuck with them. Also how can one obtain a housing voucher but move their entire family in. Cousins, sisters, grandkids etc. This used to be a nice place to live until Connections sent their so called rehabilitated tenants to live amongst us. I am all for helping those who need help but this is ridiculous!!!

This place was nice, all the workers were nice except Saundra the "psychiatrist". This (I can't even write down all the insults I have against this woman because I would probably get in big trouble) so-called "psychiatrist" would devaluate my traumas and put me on antipsychotics that literally ruined my life (now I have permanent movement disorders and impulse control problems). She would accuse me of being schizophrenic and bipolar plus she disrespected not only me but also my mother multiple times. She also told me all these threats just because I stopped taking medications that were giving me horrible side effects. She even prescribed me benzodiazepines despite my substance abuse history.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

You get what you put into your recovery!! If you've read some of these negative reviews you'd see the common theme is NOT THIS PLACE, it's ADULTS CHOOSING TO BLAME OTHERS INSTEAD OF TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE THEIR OWN CHOICES AND CURRENT STATE IN LIFE!! Not every place nor person will be your fit but it's up to YOU to establish that right fit for YOUR needs!! If you want the help it's there. Don't fit with who your given REQUEST A SWITCH or BE PRODUCTIVE IN YOUR RECOVERY AND FIND ONE IT IS THAT SIMPLE!! The workers here DO NOT DISCRIMINATE NOR RACIALLY PROFILE, THEY DO NOT BABY YOU NOR SUGARCOAT YOUR ADDICTION, WHERE YOU HAVE PUT YOURSELF IN YOUR OWN SITUATION/LIFE, AND WHAT YOU GIVE IS WHAT YOU GET!! I have had no problems with the staff in Smyrna nor Newark only have been given the truth about myself.!! YOU TAKE YOU WHEREVER YOU GO AND IF YOU WANT TO REALLY GET HELP THAT IS WHERE IT STARTS AND ENDS WITH YOU!!
