I just completed 30 day here's for for SUD. The facility was wondering. They helped me every step of the way while I was recovering. The staff, therapists, nurses and Doctors were all nice, helpful and respectful. I had ups and downs in the process but was guided through it. I've received wonderful treatment and information I will take with me as well as coping skills. I really can't say enough about this Recovery Center except I was glad to have come here.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND I cannot say enough wonderful things about Skylight Recovery in Dayton, Ohio. From intake to departure, they exceeded every expectation I had as a mother navigating one of the most difficult times in our lives. From the very beginning, the staff kept me informed every step of the way with my son’s approval, which gave me tremendous peace of mind. They guided both of us through the process with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. They even arranged an Uber pickup for my son, which was extremely convenient and helped make the transition into treatment much less stressful. They handled the FMLA and short-term disability paperwork professionally and efficiently, and even worked directly with his HR department to ensure everything was communicated properly. That level of support removed so much stress during an already emotional time. Christiana, the case manager, was absolutely amazing. She guided my son through the process, kept him informed, and reassured both of us that everything would be managed so we did not have to carry the burden alone. Her kindness, organization, and communication meant more than words can express. Mike was also incredibly supportive. He worked directly with my son in a way that was compassionate, open-minded, and understanding. It was clear he truly listened and cared about his recovery journey. And Kyle, I truly cannot say enough about this man. His support, compassion, and willingness to take the time to talk through concerns at any hour made such a difference for our family. He always made my son’s needs and best interests the priority, while also helping me feel supported and informed as a parent. The personal care and dedication he showed will never be forgotten. My son also shared how comfortable and safe he felt throughout his stay. The staff made him feel welcomed and supported from day one. He enjoyed the walks, the variety of group sessions, and even commented that the food was very good. Knowing he felt secure, cared for, and genuinely comfortable meant everything to me as a parent. I also want to specifically recognize Lorin, who was exceptional when working with insurance and managing the financial side of everything. She was incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, making a complicated process feel much more manageable for our family. Kelsey also deserves special recognition for the weekly virtual family and friends sessions that are available both during treatment and aftercare. These sessions were incredibly valuable and supportive for families navigating recovery alongside their loved ones. She even took the time to meet with me directly, welcomed recommendations and feedback, and thoughtfully sent presentations whenever someone was unable to attend. Her dedication to supporting not just the individual in recovery, but also the family, truly stands out. I highly encourage families not to miss out on these sessions. I would highly recommend Skylight Recovery to anyone struggling with addiction, or to any family member or friend trying to help someone they love. This facility treats people with dignity, compassion, and genuine care while providing the guidance and support needed for recovery. If you are looking for a place that truly puts people first, make Skylight Recovery your top choice.

Summary: A STAFF MEMBER STOLE A CLIENTS CARD WHILE STAYING AND SPENT HUNDREDS THEY HAVE 27 CONPLAINTS FILED AGAINST THEM TO THE LOCAL CHERIF OFFICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS anyone associated with this company is a blatant liar. Lies about insurance, the stay, what you can bring, privileges and quite literally any question you ask is probably gonna be a lie. And if you don’t want to get sober the way they did it they will pull every stop to get even more money out of you HYPOCRITES (thanks Kyle … one of the main directors) I would give this place negative stars if I could! The only people that are honest throughout this entire company are the people that needed help. The people I were able to meet that were there for recovery 10/10 amazing people. But from the very first phone call with there reps everything told to me was a blatant lie just to get you through the door. False promises and don’t let them get you with the “oh well your insurance will cover all of it “ almost mad at myself for not doing more research! I fell for it and sure enough not even a 72 hr notice while I was already there for days, they came to me and said “oh well now insurance will only pay for the first week of detox then we can send you somewhere else” so me being 4hrs away from my home, not able to access my phone and no where to go I asked for a phone call so I can figure it out… had to wait another full 24 hrs until I got said phone call. But lucky enough for me they were in contact with my family more than me during my stay.. I finally get a phone call the next night and low and behold one of the main directors KYLE had set up an “intervention” style phone call meeting pushing that I go to a php program that he was pushing… “I double checked with everything, this facility will 100% take and cover your entire stay”… again another lie now I’ve been still 3 hrs away from home, in a random apt with 3 other people and guess what? My insurance IS NOT COVERING THE STAY.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.

Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

A sober living home in Ohio is often recommended for those completing a drug rehab program. When you leave the structured setting of rehab, returning home can trigger relapse due to the abrupt change in environment. Men's and women's sober living homes act as transitional spaces to continue developing tools for recovery before fully re-entering society. It gives you time to adjust to the demands of life, in a setting that is free from substances.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.

Some couples therapy in Ohio is designed as short term treatment to address a specific problem in the relationship, such as anxiety, depression, or addiction. Other couples therapy may focus on general strengthening of the relationship by improving interactions.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. Therapists work with family members to establish healthy boundaries between each other and their loved one who is addicted, improve emotional support systems, and work together toward a sustained long term recovery.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Creative arts therapy can be an effective tool for recovery. It can relieve depression and anxiety and help you feel more in control of your life. Through creative expression, it can help you explore difficult emotions and process challenging situations.

Experiential therapy in Ohio is a hands on intervention method that focuses on doing and feeling. The method is client centered and tailored to the individual's interests. It may include drama therapy, animal assisted therapy, martial arts, or wilderness therapy.

I'd like to take this opportunity to commend the staff at Skylight / Flyland Recovery for their professionalism and extraordinary service. Throughout our family's experience, beginning in late summer, 2025, upon a family member's admission to the program, we have encountered many wonderful individuals amongst the staff who have helped us process this challenging time. Most notably are Carlynne Jones (Patient Counselor) and Jeremy Adams (Patient Account Specialist.) Carlynne Jones made our family's experience brighter from the very beginning with her genuine compassion, kindness, skills, knowledge, and excellent communication. She went above and beyond to provide our family emotional support, answer our questions, facilitate family sessions, and she patiently guided us as we learned to work through everything. Carlynne helped us all heal and gave us peace of mind and confidence that our family member was in very good hands. Jeremy Adams (patient account specialist,) with whom I've most recently been in correspondence regarding patient billing, is polite, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Over the past few months, Jeremy has communicated clearly, thoroughly, patiently, and effectively via email, arranged phone meetings with me to go over the payments as they arrived, and made sure I had everything needed to process things. At a time when you already feel overwhelmed, upset, afraid, and financially drained, the last thing you want to get is a call from the billing department, but Jeremy eased my fears, offered words of encouragement, and a genuine kindness that was above and beyond my expectations. In difficult times, a little kindness goes a long way. Jeremy Adams and Carlynne Jones offered kindness, outstanding knowledge, stellar support, and have consistently been bright points in an otherwise extremely stressful situation. All of the staff at Skylight Recovery is truly outstanding, and it's comforting, both for the patients and their families, to have such a supportive environment. Thank you!
