I've been going to this clinic for a while now, and it's been the best decision. The office staff is always slammed, but they still manage to be friendly and super helpful every time I come in. My provider has helped me work through some things I have struggled with for years. I am in a much better head place now.

Dr. Marmalich has made a huge difference for me. As an adult with long-untreated ADHD, I was hesitant and honestly expected to shut down or avoid the process. Instead, he listened, worked with me, and made me feel comfortable right away. After just a month, I can already see meaningful changes in how I feel and function. I’m very grateful to have found him.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. The Aftercare Follow-up Program helps those who have been discharged from private and state psychiatric facilities enroll in the right treatment program at Gulf Coast Mental Health Center.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

In response to your response: You are still a miserable human being and there is no excuse for your toxic behavior. Obviously from the negative reviews, YOU are the problem and the owner should see  that you have lost clients based on your behavior. And my appointment was for 3:30pm. You are such a liar. You need professional help. Went today for a 3:30 appt, got stuck behind a train so arrived at 3:35, a patient was in front of me and it took them a few minutes to get to me. Once they acknowledged I was there, the lady with the brown hair told me I could not be seen due to being 10 minutes late; which I was not. So she turned me away and had an attitude. She is a miserable human being and I would not recommend anyone to this place. After all, you are going here for mental health issues and this is how they treat you. Look at the other negative reviews, I am not the only one. This place has major issues with their front desk staff. I will not return nor will I recommend anyone to this facility. This is incompetence at its finest.

Response from the owner
I'm sorry you had a negative experience at our clinic.

The timing of events you have provided differs from our records.

Hypothetically, if a patient has a new patient appointment at 3:20 which is 40 minutes duration, and were to arrive at 3:35pm at the window, new patient intake paperwork would need to be filled out, which typically takes about 10 minutes, then let's say 5 minutes to get vital signs, that would put the new patient ready to see the provider at 3:50, which would only leave 10 minutes time left to meet with the provider. Our intention for new appointments is for the provider and patient to have enough time to thoroughly go over the problem the patient wants to be seen for and to formulate a treatment plan. At the time of making an appointment, we recommend patients to arrive 10 minutes early to give breathing room for the new patient paperwork and work up so there is enough time for the patient to have with their provider.

We offered a resolution to put you back on the schedule. I'm sorry I don't share your opinion that this is deserving of a one star review of the clinic.

Feel free to reach out to me directly on google if I can be of further assistance, and I can try to help to come up with a resolution for your problem.

Schedule an appointment. Took two months for new patient. I was fine with it. Paid my fee. The day of my appointment my son got the stomach flu. Called to cancel and had to leave a message. They called me back and canceled my appointment and didn’t ask about rescheduling so I had to bring it up. When I ask the lady tells me the next appointment is 5 months later. I ask why and her only excuse was they boom up fast and that is how their scheduling goes. Ask for a refund for my fee and without any hesitation she said she will put a note and that was it. There was no compassion. There was no room to help. Just wanted to get my off their books.

Response from the owner
I'm sorry you had a negative experience with the clinic. Unfortunately, there are not an abundance of new patient appointment slots available and we are usually booked out several months in advance. Short notice cancellations for new patient appointments will naturally result in some delay in being rescheduled. We can provide information about other local mental health providers if needed. You are correct, we marked your fee for refund, without hesitation.
