I was thinking about this place today for some reason. I spent 29 days here in 2015 or late 2014. Anyway I remember it was a very good program. The scenery is beautiful and many long walks around the facility. I was glad we could smoke as well. I remember going to the local Catholic Church nearby. Oh yes and the food was delicious. Females were there as well, but no peeking lol. Overall a good place if you wanna sober up and stay off the destructive path.

I volunteerly sought help with medication. Ì was afraid of what would happen while there. After a couple of days, the other ladies reached out to me and every thing changed for the better. I had lost most of my sight and could only hear very little. The staff was extremely helpful and concerned. I did get my meds adjusted. The support staff were great. I only had a few negative interactions with staff. The worst one was in the day room on Sept 13, 2025 when a female staff member ran across the room and to the TV screaming excessively loud. Most of us had very negative reactions and several went out of the room.

It took a while for me to decide to post a remark, but I felt that I had to say something. I was a patient there last June because of something stupid I did because of the pain I was in because of my back. At first I was very upset and unruly. But after being there for a couple of days I did notice a couple of things that are definitely NOT the faculty's fault. The doctors, nurses & medtechs did the best they could with what they had. These people come in to help, because they care. But the one thing I did notice was that the staff was over-worked, under-staffed, under-appreciated & I don't know, but probably underpaid. They relied on donations, when it came down to certain clothes, shoes & I remember how short they were on pillows. After being discharged, my husband & I donated some items for them to use. The thing that gets me angry is after reading some of these reviews, it has become apparent to me how important that the Gov. steps in and do something about the lack of care there is for mental health. I read in a comment that their loved one was dumped like trash and she had dementia. While there myself and one other person tried to help the medtechs, when they needed some. These people are human beings, NOT TRASH and shouldn't be treated like it, due to the facility being so short staffed. You know, it's a shame we don't learn from the Asians on how they care for their loved ones. But like I said my personal experience taught me a lot about facing my inner demons, while trying to help the medtechs. Here's a thought!!! Maybe if you treated your staff the way that they should be treated, then you would not have so many unhappy family members of the patients.

Our developmentally disabled client was admitted last week. I can’t say enough about how awesome this facility has been. At most past facilities our other clients were in we had such a hard time advocating for them. Beacon has been easy to communicate w all the treatment team. We were included and informed regarding his care plan. They were able to make him feel safe. I’ll be requesting this facility if we ever need an admit for our DD consumers. Thank you Beacon!

There is a reason people like me, come from out of state to this facility. This is a structured, clean and most importantly SAFE environment to focus on my wellness and healing. Swimming, Yoga, meditation, music therapy, guided progress, caring and understanding staff and medical team. Don’t waste your money or time anywhere else!

Mixed Experience – Amazing Staff, Poor Facility I recently spent time at this mental health hospital, and while my overall experience was a mixed bag, one thing which stood out above everything else was the staff. Particularly one of the Techs named Mason. Let’s start with the downside. The facility itself is in desperate need of updates. The environment felt more institutional than therapeutic — fluorescent lighting, peeling paint, and a general sense of neglect. Some of the common areas felt cramped and outdated, and there were moments where basic supplies or comfort items were in short supply. For a place meant to promote healing, the physical space sometimes felt more discouraging than supportive. That said, the staff truly made all the difference. Despite working with limited resources, they showed compassion, patience, and a real commitment to helping patients feel seen and safe. Mason, in particular, stood out as a rare kind of person — calm under pressure, attentive without being overbearing, and able to bring humor and warmth to even the hardest moments. He always showed up with a smile and great energy, and I continually saw him go out of his way in order to help anyone he could. He treated everyone with respect and genuine kindness, which made a lasting impact on me and I'm sure many others. While I can't say I’d recommend the facility based on the building alone, I would absolutely vouch for the people who work there. If the management ever invests in upgrading the space to match the quality of care being delivered, it could become a truly exceptional place.

Im astounded by my growth. I went from homeless to happy. I highly recommend this facility if you want change. This team changed my life. Stina was one of the most phenomenal therapiat and human beings I've ever met. She created safety for me to do the work. Brooke is an astounding cook and gets the job done. Allysa the case manager took me where I needed to go. Tray and Blake got me to my outside meetings. Nurse Faith and Megan made me feel welcomed and loved. Damn this place is good. It do what it do.

A stable suicidal veteran referred by the VA MH Unit arrived on 11/9/25. I wanted change in my life, your place helped clear my head, learned to love myself. I was broken w/ Depression, Anxiety, PTSD and Alcohol substance use disorder. This place tore my walls down, I no longer isolated. I worked the program, I listened and learned to ALL the professional Staff here. I became a miracle and it works if YOU let it. On Dec. 24th I completed my 1st ever program. I can’t thank your doctors enough, Dr. Wang, Dr. Lockwood, Dr. Jackson….for taking on my case and helping me. I still have to undergo three more procedures but just from the short time I’ve been treated by them and all the nurses in the Cath lab after my cerebral angiogram and all the staff in the ER you all have been angels. Ochsner neglected me it’s like night and day at this facility. You all are actively saving my life and I can not thank you enough. I trust the doctors with my life. I never would have imagined at 21 I’d be dealing with all of these scary , serious medical issues but the doctors, nurses, and staff here have given me hope for my future. God bless you all.

I was recently admitted through the Er for stomach issues ..The er Doctor was great on 9-4-26..I had to have the ng tube and it was the most painful experience ..My tube came out because wasnt taped securely and my iv wires kept pulling it out so had to get it inserted again which the nurses thought I pulled it out but I didnt ..I spent the night in the er but the next day a nurse taped it securely. I WAS admitted to the 6th floor and was greeted with a smile by nurse name neethu ..not sure if spelled correctly..She was so caring and helped me get through a difficult time ..I never had to call her because she checked on my at all times .I never met a nurse as great as her.Wow,words are not enough for my appreciation towards her.Please give this nurse a raise..lol or recognition for her outstanding job performance ..nurse Bea was also very nice and efficent .Nursing tech on 9-7-26 was great also but cant remember everyones name .Thank you Ejgh for everything!

While the accommodation itself isn't ideal, I have to recommend the ED/TR specialty unit based on its staff. They were so kind and patient with me throughout my entire stay of a whopping 29 days. Special thank you to Cody, Mika, Jameicka, Rose, Abbie, Ray, Tiana, Amie, Ashley, Armani, Dr. Peterson, the dietitians, and all of the therapists I interacted with. I think the major issues with this facility are the result of some systemic issues, unfortunately beyond the control of most. I was in the ED program and there was a definite lack of ED-specific professionals during meal groups, which creates a situation where the patients need to take additional accountability to ensure their meal plan is accurately followed. If more techs could be trained on how these disorders function, and how to better support individuals during mealtimes, I think this program would benefit greatly. In addition, the food and accommodation need some serious upgrades, particularly with cleanliness and air conditioning issues (the AC went out multiple times during my stay). The program can definitely be beneficial if you put in the work!

I was in the specialty here and overall it was a good experience, the staff for the most part was amazing. However I did get a pinched nerve from the terrible mattresses which caused me severe pain to the point where I was in tears, and I felt very dismissed. I felt like my pain wasn't taken seriously which is disappointing because its been about two weeks and I am still suffering and will most likely need physical therapy because of it. The nurse even dismissed me when I suggested that it was nerve related saying "there are no nerves in that part of your body". Aside from that I had a very beneficial experience here and really have no other complaints which is why I'm so disappointed by the way the whole situation was handled. Its hard to be present in therapy when you're in 8/10 pain.
