I volunteered to enter the outpatient program at Keystone. The program is very focused and exceptional. The most important factor in the treatment are the group facilitators. I want to mention Julie who was our team counselor and facilitator. Julie is the real deal; she has been through treatment herself, she is very authentic and sincere. She understands exactly what all group members are going through.. She listens and hears what is being said and understands what is in the hearts of everyone. The 6 week treatment was very effective. I would highly recommend Keystone as a program for those who are addicted.

Reception was quick to help me bring in my loved ones bags and totes full of his belongings. She was so kind and thanked me for bringing in his things! She was on a phone call and double tasked helping me and continuing the call on her headset. I was impressed, felt that warm welcome to a place that I’m not even staying in. My fiancée is very happy with his treatment and care he is getting while at Rosecrance. He is enjoying the chef prepared food in a nice clean cafeteria with vending machines, more food that he could eat in a buffet style line. A brand new gym that he loves to lift weights and run on a treadmill. And he gets to call me every night. He enjoyed his own pillows and comforter from home as well as his own hygiene products and all his clothes. It’s great the allow the residents to be as comfortable as possible during their stay and recovery.

Rosecrance is a beloved Family of mine given how -- in every way possible -- over the last 5 months they have welcomed me, supported me, shown me love, made me feel worthy, helped me see that I still matter on planet earth and that the gifts I was graced with upon my birth in 1967 are there for a massive reason: I have a Purpose to be Alive, for Life Awaits all of us out there in this messy, broken and often dark world. If you're hurting in ANY way and need any kind of help, call Rosecrance and/or walk through their doors, and the God's honest Truth is they WANT to help you and they WILL. I was born with a Soul that is totally independent and I never ask for this thing called "Help." Thanking the Universe in massive, infinite ways that Rosecrance was brought to my existence so that I can choose Life over death each and every day.

As with most mental health facilities, some of the practitioners are cold and uncaring while others pour their hearts into their work. One significant pro is that the rooms are private. Just be aware that the staff will constantly be checking on you if you are in your room alone. Sometimes this disrupts sleep and they will not care about leaving your door open and the light shining in. If you are coming here due to legal reasons or need to just escape the traumas of modern living, I do think that a few weeks stay has the potential to heal much. Doing the 90 day program, though, of course, is labor intensive and exhausting. The rules and regulations of the Eleva Care handbook are restrictive because they've had people violate minute rules and minutiae and get away with inappropriate behavior. Overall, staff really helped me get my head on straight and I am very grateful to have gotten back in touch with my true self and connect with inner values that I hold. If you're having severe and persistent mental illness, I do recommend this treatment facility. I found the experience of being here for a sustained length of time to be very humanizing.

Many of the people posting negative comments are not complaining about Avera, they are complaining about a particular doctor. The trick here, as it is in every clinic in the country, is getting a doctor (what we used to call a GP I guess) that's right for you. I have Dr. Lilgaroth, she is great, so I gave 5 stars. My wife has had bad experiences in the past with so many male drs (the old "you're a woman & I'm both a man AND a doctor, so I'm gonna ignore what you say") that she finally demanded a female doctor, and that happened to work out great for her. Gender may not have been the reason, she may just have got a great dr-- the important thing is, my wife was comfortable with her. When her female dr retired, she ended up with a male dr (Dr Gunderson, I believe?) and she says he is great. Ya just gotta shop around and get a doc that is a fit for you-- that is true of any clinic, not just Avera. But I've also had pretty much all positive experiences with other parts of the clinic-- reception, labs, nurses, Avera hospitals, even the money people. (Btw, I'm not a nice guy or a pollyanna; I am by nature an extremely demanding pain in the, uh, rear.)

This place saved my life. I was admitted a little over a year ago due to an extreme episode of psychosis brought on by a two year long depressive episode and a very heavy dose of cannabis. I stayed for about three weeks. I was a mess before I was hospitalized. I was unemployed, hadn't left my house more than a few times in the previous year, and was too exhausted and paranoid to reach for anything I wanted. The amazing people here set me up with services outside the hospital and I now have a wonderful psychiatrist, therapist, ARMHS workers, and social work case manager. Since my stay, I have managed to: - get a part time job with amazing coworkers and a very understanding manager - find the right medications for me - get my name legally changed (I am transgender and the staff here were wonderful with me) - get my GED (I was severely educationally neglected by my parents, who refused to enroll me in school and who never educated me in certain subjects or beyond 6th grade) and enroll in my associate's in computer science, which I will be starting in June! I haven't yet decided what I want to do for a career - I have some time - but I think I would like to be a full stack developer - get engaged! I am still with one of my partners that I had at the time of my stay and we plan to get married in the next couple of years - improve my relationship with my mom - work through trauma with my therapist (EMDR is amazing) - make new friends - go outside more; I go to work and the library and I hang out with friends - actually have energy for personal projects beyond just my obligations due to my medication stabilizing my manic/depressive episodes and psychosis I cannot overstate how wonderful the staff were, I wish I could remember everyone's names. I remember so many faces and so much kindness towards me. Playing cards and doing puzzles with the older people made me so happy. I remember a lady encouraging my art even though drawing and painting isn't my strong suit. Some names I can remember: Mike from Unit A - thank you for supporting me through the worst of it all, I don't remember much from my first week but I remember your face and your name and I remember you letting me "do mud." LeAnn - thank you for supporting me and for giving me reminders to look beyond myself and my community when I was so worried about myself and people I know personally. Jean Claude - thank you for encouraging my academic side and taking interest in my love for languages. I am still learning Dutch and I have started learning Spanish - I have yet to learn French but that day will come. Garn - we didn't interact a lot but my mom let me know when I got out how you kept her updated and I really appreciated the interactions we did have. Music therapist - I don't remember your name but thank you for letting me sing and for telling me about your instruments. Everyone - I remember you. I may not remember all of your names but I remember you. Thank you. You guys saved my life. I am sorry for how I acted. Thank you for helping me during the scariest time of my life. You guys helped me change myself for the better. Much love! Alex W
