About Mathers Clinic

Mathers Clinic is a mental health facility located in Crystal Lake, Illinois that offers outpatient care for children, teens, and adults. They offer services such as counseling, medication management, assessments for ADHD and autism, and therapy for eating disorders.

The way you’ll start here is by getting an initial comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that can help you diagnose the issues that might be present, whether they be emotional, behavioral, or developmental at their core.

Some of the mental health conditions they treat include anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. They also offer help for panic attacks, anger management, and eating disorders. If you find yourself in a difficult life stage, they offer care for this as well. If you’re going through a phase in your life of grief and bereavement, they are skilled at treating these situations too. You can also find treatment for ADHD, communication issues, and physical or emotional sexual abuse.

One thing that stood out is their approach to self esteem. They consider it essential that you develop health self esteem, and they work to identify signs that you might have low self esteem such as perfectionism, being a workaholic, and being reactive. They also address these concerns and help you develop a healthy self concept.

They also have counseling for eating disorders, and while they acknowledge that women are more likely to have this concern, they don’t overlook the impact of eating disorders on men and boys.

I really liked that they offer mindfulness and meditation training, which can be a major help in the recovery process. They also offer individual therapy, group therapy, family counseling and marriage or couples counseling.

My ex wife Galen left an insane review against Dr Shah while contacting my probation officer trying to put me in jail and using legal loopholes to destroy my life my home my children and attempting to end my bupe MAT a few months after Dr shah helped get me off a 15 year methadone nightmare. I've legitimately never had a more compassionate and helpful Dr. Since starting we've gone from 36mg daily to 12. Without her help I wouldn't have been able to get my freedom and health back. She's also been very helpful with probation and court since I've been in good standing with the clinic. When I started she even had me take a DNA test to see if there was anything other than benzodiazepines I could be prescribed because of its addiction and life ruination potential. No other Dr ever even attempted such a thing. Thanks Dr Shah.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

I was seeing Kendra the phyc at this location, she recently had a disagreement with other staff or management and left now i believe i know why. 1. She double ordered and booked me for a shot that was supposed to be 1x a month. I was called by the pharmacy requesting approval to send this medication over to this clinic. I called this girl Kendra and said what’s going on. She gave me no response days went by. I called Mathers Clinic. They said they will handle it which they did. I sent her a text and told her that I wanted to get pain pills since I need a hip replacement and I prefer Norco, when I was in the office, she said you can’t have any Norco in your system, so do you she says prior to giving me the shot I said no. I just sent her a text asking her if it’s OK to get Norco since I had that shot I got no response. In fact the response I got is I’m not taking new patients. I told her I’m not a new patient. What are you talking about? She said I am gonna block you. Wow, what a professional. I actually asked her for a referral to a pain med doctor. To keep things together or make it easier thinking the would both be aware of each others treatments since there must be a threat to my health if i do take norcos along with the shot. I actually wanted to get a few questions answered luke how long before i can norcos, what are the side effects if i mix the both, ect…. And again no reply with any answers. Kendra gave me a prescription a week ago when I had a visit and got the shot, she also prescribed medication, but it was not what I was on before and or what I requested, which was clear written on paper that I had a screenshot of which she saw along with her assistant. The prescription that she gave me also was not covered by my insurance, so I called her and asked her to give me an alternate or a substitute for which she did, she called me and said that should be covered. It’s a common med. Called Insurance they said they have no record of this medicine with any attempts of being filled at Walgreens so I think she prescribed the wrong one. I looked up the other med that she gave me and it’s for bipolar or psychosis, I am not bipolar or psychotic. In fact I had Testing done about a year ago and they said I was not. Kendra never asked me these questions for blatantly prescribed meds to me without any review of history and or questions and or testing. I was rude with her since this is my life and she seems to not care. She’s moved to a new clinic i mental health connection at 101 n Virginia. Crystal Lake Stay away from this girl if you wanna live.
