About Mountain West

Mountain West is a group of recovery homes spread throughout Aurora and Denver, Colorado. From the main office in Aurora, they’ll connect you with one of their sober living homes or residential addiction treatment centers.

All their locations are gender specific to ensure group sessions are tailored to meet the unique needs of men and women.

They accept clients who are on a methadone medication-assisted treatment program.

Sober Living With Additional Levels of Support

Mountain West structures its program so that it offers in-house therapy services and life skills training while you reside in one of its homes. Their staff follows the organization’s values of compassion, integrity, quality, innovation and collaboration.

Comfortable Communal Living

Because their homes are designed for long-term stays, the team went out of their way to create a comfortable and relaxing space.

Their communal spaces have large TVs, cozy seating, plenty of space for activities and high speed internet. They provide washers and dryers on site, storage spaces to keep your belongings safe and space where you can keep fresh and dry food.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residents of a sober living home in Colorado are encouraged to continue to develop coping skills and habits they learned in treatment. They can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, until they feel they are ready to transition home. During their stay, they must adhere to house rules, which may include contributing to household chores, abiding by a curfew, and maintaining a job.

Clinical Services

Life skills are traits you need to be successful during recovery, such as managing stress and interpersonal relationships. During rehab treatment in Colorado, you and your therapist will identify any skills that need to be developed and work on methods to strengthen them.

Mount West portrays itself as a supportive sober living environment dedicated to helping individuals in recovery, but my experience revealed a very different and troubling reality. Instead of providing genuine support, the program appears structured to exploit both its residents and the system. During the first month, residents are put through an intensive daily schedule of groups—primarily aimed at billing Medicaid and maximizing payouts—rather than focusing on individualized recovery and long-term stability. Once residents have paid their money and completed this initial month of heavy billing, the environment becomes hostile. Staff actively sabotage residents' UAs (urine analyses) to create false positive results, using these as grounds to immediately discharge people without cause and put them right back out on the street. This facility operates more like a scheme to drain Medicaid funds and private money than a legitimate recovery community. If you or a loved one are looking for an honest, supportive environment to achieve lasting sobriety, look elsewhere. Mount West manipulates the recovery process for profit at the direct expense of vulnerable people trying to rebuild their lives.
