A friend of mine was discharged from this facility, and while I understand that patients are sometimes discharged, the way his discharge was handled was deeply concerning. He is from Houston and struggles with mental health challenges. He was discharged in College Station without a charged phone, without safe transportation, and without his family being properly notified. As a result, he was left to sleep on the streets while his family desperately searched for him and ultimately had to involve law enforcement to locate him. No family should have to experience the fear and uncertainty of not knowing where their loved one is, especially when that loved one is living with a mental illness. As a Black man in the midst of a mental health crisis, the involvement of law enforcement added another layer of fear and concern for his family’s safety and well-being. Regardless of his mental health condition, he deserved to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. The discharge process appeared to lack appropriate planning and consideration for his safety. In my opinion, the way this situation was handled was inhumane and unacceptable. I sincerely hope this facility reviews its discharge procedures to ensure that no other patient or family has to endure a similar experience. If I could give zero stars, I would.

This facility is not capable of caring for any human being. This place unsafely discharged my brother to the streets of College Station, without proper transportation back to Houston where he resides. My brother was left onto the streets, without a way to contact family to get him home. I had to file a missing report with the College Station police department who later located my brother who has an extensive history of mental illness. My brother was left to manage himself in an unfamiliar area/town, homeless on the streets of college station. Please do not trust this facility with the care for your loved one.
