About Rochester Counseling Group

Rochester Counseling Group is located on English Road in Rochester, New York. They provide counseling services to address and treat co-occurring mental health issues and substance use disorders.

You can access walkable restaurants, local retail stores and businesses. There are also natural landmarks nearby including Braddock Bay Wildlife Management Area, Grace and Truth Sportspark, Parma Town Park and Greece Canal Park.

Early Assessment Leads to Customized Treatment

When you first arrive at RCG, they assess your mental health wellness and determine what level of treatment you might require. They offer treatment for co-occurring disorders including SUD and mental health issues.

Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Counseling

I like that their outpatient drug and alcohol counseling services include group therapy sessions and individual counseling services. They also accept clients who have been referred by court mandated programs for DWI/DUI offenses.

DWI Evaluation and Treatment

For DWI offenses, they first provide you with a NY State OASAS compliant DWI evaluation to determine your eligibility. I find it good to know that they will work with you and your court appointment representative to ensure you are credited for completing both treatment and the educational classes you are required to take

Excellus verified by phone that the two therapists I was interested in seeing are participating providers, and their intake person denies this. She seemed either confused or not knowledgable about it. I feel this is poor customer service. *Edit to reply to comment below* I never stated that I use Blue Choice Option. I use Medicare Blue Choice Select. Option, that she is referring to, is a Medicaid program. Mine is a Medicare Advantage Plan. The providers requested are listed on their website as participating providers. Furthermore, I called the company itself, and they verified those providers are participating in my plan. Once again. The assistant is not very knowledgable, and her info here is incorrect.

Excellus gave information that was inaccurate. If you look at their database it will specifically list if a provider is able to take Medicare in their list of plans accepted. In their database that information was listed incorrectly. When you called the excellus phone rep they reiterated the incorrect information as it’s based on the same database.

*edit to initial reply* I informed our excellus rep about this issue and they agreed that this was a problem that they would look into rectifying internally. Also I appreciate your reply to my initial follow up (which was done immediately after I heard of this issue).

When a provider is paneled with excellus that does not mean they are also paneled with Medicare. To be paneled with Medicare each individual provider needs to panel with Medicare separately and get assigned a Medicare number to be able to take Medicare plans (including those with a 3rd party administrator such as excellus). Since this initial issue we have worked to get some of our providers properly paneled with Medicare plans to avoid this confusion moving forward.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Rochester Counseling Group works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehabs offer an intermediate level of care for clients who do not require the kind of intensive supervision and support an inpatient program typically provides. Many clients transition into outpatient care immediately after exiting inpatient treatment. Others enter outpatient programs upon completing detox. Some facilities offer ambulatory medical detox for clients who do not require hospitalization. Most outpatient rehabs offer a combination of services, including addiction counseling, life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Treatments

Alcohol rehab in New York can help individuals overcome alcoholism. This alcohol addiction is characterized by drinking alcohol compulsively, being unable to control how much you drink, and feeling anxious or stressed when you're not drinking. Treatment for alcohol addiction may involve brief intervention, an outpatient program, or inpatient alcohol rehab in New York. The main goal of treatment is to stop alcohol use to improve quality of life.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

In New York you'll find substance abuse treatment programs that can help you address your addiction, and any co-occurring mental health disorders. These programs utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic approaches to help you achieve recovery and new tools to sustain it. With various treatment options available, including outpatient, inpatient, and residential programs, you'll be able to find the resources and right level of care you need to effectively treat your addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New York is a short term therapeutic method used to treat substance use and mental health disorders. CBT typically lasts from five to 20 sessions, based on the individual's needs.

During dialectical behavior therapy in New York, you and your therapist will look for triggers and patterns that are guiding your emotions. This involves keeping a diary of your emotions and situations and sharing this each week with the therapist. This information will determine what you work on in each session.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Accreditations

State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.

Matt is one of the most tentative, genuine and opened minded human beings I have ever met. He takes his role and positions as more than just his “job”. You can tell this is his true life calling and he is absolutely fulfilling it by intentionally listening, asking thought provoking questions and help build a path to live a successful and happy life to the fullest. In the years I’ve known him, he’s changed my life immensely. I could never thank him enough.
