Considering the circumstances 😂 I remember one girl constantly dialing 9-11 from the phone's. I don't remember if the calls went through but she bragged in the room at night.. The food was actually really good we never went to bed hungry they had activities or you can sit in your rooms. They locked the bathrooms during the day. Because a few of the girls would flush stuff down like apples and pencils 😆 🍎 ✏️. We had a menu where we would choose what we wanted for our meals. The ward was clean and the staff was really cool. I remember I got discharged in February it was cold and fit the atmosphere of my current situation. I'm now married and have a daughter. This was a different time in my life. If you genuinely need help, this is the best place to go for community and self accountability. The woman in charge may be a lot, but she has to be and genuinely cares. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. The staff is amazing and they will help you. Just don’t try to fool them. You either get better or you don’t. It’s up to you. These people will support you if you genuinely try and will continue to until you’re better. Never trust an active addicts review. Let them help you. you won’t regret the guidance. Mindy basically carried the whole unit on her back during my most recent stay and is a gem. Ephram the nurse is always a joy to be around and makes trusting him enough to take meds no questions asked easy. Nurse Jackie is also amazing and was super helpful when I was having roommate problems. Antonio is a little out there but fun to talk to, he had this brilliant idea of a resume building group, and I totally agree. In fact I think you should expand that into having the patients help with maintenance work on the building. Aplonia, Jojo, Pierre and Andre are nice too. Troy is more fun to talk to than Antonio. Also there's a set of 3 food workers that is a set of triplet brothers, just so no ones psychosis gets so bad they don't eat or something. Could try switching to Optimum internet since they offer more bandwith then FIOS. Also maybe give the staff unit cell phones to look up things for patients or listen to music and stuff. Also it can help keep the night staff up if they need it and not have HIPPA violations or anything. The floor supervisor Latoya is great, but the staff definitely need de-esclataion re-training after what happened with William and Donna. Also the best pharmacologists I've seen on the Island imo. Maybe make it easier for patients to get medical attention if needed like at South Oaks. An ice/water vending machine on unit would be a good place to start. I feel like people only Comment when they have a bad experience which I find it to be so ungrateful. People forget to give a feedback on good experiences. Everyone is so rushed to move on And never say thank you I can’t brag enough about this place and the staff. The nurses of the unit I was in are my biggest heroes. I don’t think these women get enough credit for what they do in daily basis. They have the hardest jobs of All. Ive experienced a PTSD episode a week ago and The next thing I know, I’m in the emergency room somewhere in Queens. Then I was transferred to Brunswick Hospital a few days later. I’ve never left a hospital just feeling so much better than I was before. This hospital made me feel that for the first time in my life. I suffer from mental illness. I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, bipolar depression, ADHD and the list goes on and on… but at the end of the day I feel like it’s all about the compassion and empathy that comes out of all us humans 🙏🏻🫶 Kudos to you, Brunswick Hospital for doing such a great job and making us feel safe and heard. I am a current resident at Samaritan village's inpatient and methadone facility and I think they have a wonderful program! I have been to many programs and this is by far the best. In their residential program, you have access you methadone maintainence although it is not required, you receive your psychiatric medications and have an on premises psychiatrist and primary care Dr although you may see your own. I see theirs and they are wonderful. They do not chastise you if your on a controlled psychiatric medications, it is considered and often allowed if you have a diagnosed. They offer both methadone and Suboxone and the clinic in the Richmond Hill facility has their methadone clinic right downstairs so you can dose upon waking up. The staff is caring and professional, and the community is caring as well. Well that's about all I have to say! If you are struggling with substance abuse and looking to change your life, look no further! This place is 5* and fully covered by almost all insurance as far as I know!
