About The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Atlanta

The Salvation Army has Adult Rehabilitation Centers at locations across the country. They’re called ARC for short, and there’s one in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a residential treatment program that gives you a clean, sanitary place to live while you recover from drug or alcohol addiction and learn to be on your own. The program is free, but they’ll let you use government benefits to help offset some of the costs.

The program is designed to last about 180 days or six months. While the focus is obviously on recovery, they do more than treat the disease of addiction. They know that to get sober and stay that way, you have to have to heal emotionally and spiritually, too. That’s why work therapy will be a central part of your treatment plan.

You’ll work directly with your counselors to find an open position in your community that fits your skill set. Then, you’ll start working about eight hours each day. This one step can be transformative because it allows you to become self sufficient, earn an income, and build accountability. As a result, you should find that confidence and outlook also improve.

During your downtime, you can hang out with your peers at the center or attend counseling sessions. The sessions can help you understand more about addiction, address any underlying issues you might be dealing with, and develop healthy habits.

Something I like about the program is that they emphasize the importance of spiritual care. You’ll attend worship services each week, participate in Bible studies, and talk with your counselors to deepen your relationship with God as you recover.

Some of the negative reviews here are from people who treat the donation pick up service as their personal, white glove, unwanted furniture disposal service. It is ridiculous to expect the pick up crew to come when you aren't home, and it is unreasonable to expect them to remove their shoes or wear 'booties' so they don't soil your carpets. These movers are not your servants. If you truly wish to perform an act of charity, arrange to be at home ahead of time, and cover your floor with the Atlanta Journal Constitution...its' best possible use.

Do NOT donate to the salvation army. On multiple occasions I've had the guys that pick up make simple picks up extremely difficult. They mishandle items and disregard all customer service. Trying to actually help people in need is NOT this thrift stores goal. It is making money plain and simple. Find another avenue to help the community. Anticipate your donations you're hoping to find a regular home to go to auction for profit. This thrift store is not has zero to do with bettering the common man and military.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances in a medically supervised setting. If you become chemically dependent on a substance like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Ativan), quitting abruptly can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. Licensed medical professionals ensure the process goes as safely and comfortably as possible while monitoring you 24/7 and administering any required medications,

You attempt to donate a mattress but they refuse to pick it up due to stairs. I am pregnant and would have loved for someone in need to have my nearly brand new mattress but Salvation Army does not care about that apparently. Not helpful to the community at all. Very disappointed in this location!

Left work early and in a rush after being told the truck for donation pick up wouldn’t come until 130. I wasn’t there when they arrived but thankfully they came back right?! NO. Wasted my time, talking about my furniture was too big to get thru my front door and that it was stained yet that was far from any truth as I moved my own “bulky” couch into my garage on my own without adding any further damage to my front door nor the couch. Stop sending lazy lousy men to do a job they aren’t qualified nor willing to do!

They had a lot of cool deals there and they’re willing to work with you with pricing of furniture or appliances and they actually give back to the community I want saw them passing out winter jackets to the homeless and they also have a church connected to it so if you’re looking for a church you can attend there they do a lot of great work for the community
