Bloomington, MN | Progress Valley is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, about 15 miles from the Twin Cities. They offer substance use disorder and dual diagnosis treatment. They have a mixed gender residential treatment center and are LGBTQ inclusive. They also offer intensive outpatient programs (IOP). They accept insurance from many major carriers. The residential | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Despite some of the bad reviews I’ve seen of progress valley? Personally they have helped me many times. I believe recovery isn’t always getting it right the first time. They always welcomed me back with open arms and were proud of me for making the step to come back into an inpatient treatment. I am now going on 5 months sober & am so grateful for the program. If it wasn’t for them and what I’ve learned from them through the years I would probably be dead. Juli is amazing, faith is absolutely a sweetheart and so caring, the director lady Renee used to scare the shit out of me but she just cares about you and is very much just straight forward and wants the best for you. I have seen many people who have graduated the program come back and work there themselves and I believe it’s beautiful because they are also helping their recovery by working with people and helping them stay sober and be supports! I hope one day I could come and work for progress valley! Thank you guys for everything you do & I am sorry that some people have had bad experiences here, progress valley isn’t for everyone just like everyone has different tastes in things. I personally loved progress valley & I always will.

Progress Valley, provided a supportive and personalized treatment experience that significantly aided my recovery journey. The staff were incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable, tailoring therapy sessions to my specific needs. Their commitment to holistic care, including group sessions, individual counseling, and wellness activities, created a safe environment to confront challenges and build coping mechanisms. I especially appreciated the accessible and responsive communication from my therapist, who was always available to address concerns. While the initial adjustment period was difficult, the structured program and dedicated staff helped me develop the tools necessary to maintain sobriety upon discharge. I would highly recommend Progress Valley to anyone seeking quality addiction treatment.

I have nearly completed the outpatient program. I too watched the Bill Murray video. The movie is a comedy about a highly regarded therapist and an obsessive compulsive patient that violates the patient therapist relationship continuously. I am not sure what needs explaining. We are all in therapy and if you paid attention you would have learned many lessons about life and life in therapy. Also it was humorous and certainly was a team building exercise. This is group therapy. I am not sure why someone would write on the comments with second hand knowledge of the therapy received. The person that received the therapy should write more detail on why he/she thought it was bad. Someone in treatment that doesn't want to be there complaining to his mom is hardly good information. The group I am is always changing and yet the group is dynamic and contributes a lot to helping each other. Some of the people that come in occasionally just don't want to participate and if you don't participate you don't get much from the group. Seldom is this a problem and that is a testament to the excellent leadership. Group therapy is not a counselor to class one way learning experience. The counselor keeps the group on point and it is up to the patient/participant to get something out of counseling. There is plenty of homework to do and the counselors are always available for after group discussions. If your son was having problems with understanding the reason for the movie he just had to ask. We also occasionally play group games. If anyone is having trouble in the group the group members are always there to help out. The facility is easy to get to and easy to park near the door if that matters. The group talks on break. There are regular drug tests and relapses are discussed openly if you unfortunately choose drugs during the program. As for insurance that probably could be explained better but as you said you should have checked up on it if you weren't getting bills. Certainly if your insurance company is not following up with any bill analysis something is wrong. It was explained to me that your portion of the bill is generally lumped into one payment at the end. Your insurance company is the one that makes the decisions not the center. My insurance is BCBS and treatment which is generally out of network thanks to the misguided forces caused by Obamacare can be expensive. There is financial help available if you qualify and you can still ask. Ultimately insurance and the bill is the responsiblity of the patient and it is your responsibility to understand how the billing works. If you didn't do this you failed in your responsibility. I have been going 3 times per week for 3 hours and the time goes by fast. The discussion is relevant and the group spends more time on anyone that needs more input. 3/4ths of the class is there because they are forced to be there by law. Yet anyone participating seems to be having a good time and they are glad they are there. Most report that it is far better than the 12 step meetings though an outside meeting each week is a requirement for each participant. Like any educational or life changing learning experience the number one determinate of success is the willingness of the patient to be open and honest. Also to put the time in necessary after group to learn the things they need to learn to be successful. If you are expecting to go there and sit around and graduate with some sort of diploma, cured of addiction, you aren't going to succeed anywhere. This is a great program and it is outpatient. The people are very focused on your success in the program. Maybe it isn't the perfect solution for a young person that is feeling put out by being there but for anyone motivated to get better this place is great.

The best thing I've ever done for myself was admitting I needed help. The second best thing was going to Hazelden. It's a beginning, it's not a solution. So don't fool yourself into thinking they will solve your problems. But I can honestly promise you, if you open yourself up and surrender all of your B.S..you can and will heal.I had suffered a stroke and was in a coma for 3 days before I admitted myself. If I would have continued to drink, I would not be typing this right now. I would be dead. You don't have to suffer alone anymore, I did that for way too long.So Im telling you, love yourself for a change. Look in the mirror at yourself. I've changed my review they've implemented a lot of good things. The monthly mandatory group is online now which is amazing I have severe phobias and sitting in a small room of 20 people with potentially catching COVID makes me feel a lot better knowing I can sit at home in a group on camera and my counselor Rob is amazing and genuinely cares so they fixed a lot so I give this clinic a thumbs up. My previous review wasn't too fair I feel like they fixed a lot of the issues that I had problems with which is really good lots of places don't do that and they certainly don't listen to their clients usually and fixing those issues so it's a very nice change of pace to feel like we are heard 👍

Every time I've needed them over the years, they've risen to the occasion and insisted I'm a former employee there too and I still reference people there. They support Hennepin County amazingly especially the Willard hay neighborhood. I always refer people even if they live over South to go over to North point and they will link you up with the resources you need to get what you need. They ensure that if for some reason your insurance doesn't cover your insulin if it freezes, which is the likelihood in this state while waiting for it to be dropped off at your house, they will help you get your medicines you need and then you'll get the invoice later and they will also help you get the insurance if you don't have it and it'll be backdated 90 days. While I can't speak for the in-person services provided, we had a wonderful experience via phone communication. We were trying to help a family member navigate treatment options. We called on a Saturday to discuss what detox services might look like. Tony was the staff member who took our call. He was incredibly informative, kind and non-judgmental. He explained the process for being admitted, what to expect over the days of treatment, and also what we could expect from our family member specific to meth withdrawal. We were fortunate that we were able to get our family member directly into an intensive residential treatment facility, but the information he provided was so helpful in the interim! My previous clinic (downtown mpls) closed and so I made an appointment with Janet for my annual checkup based on reading about her background and experience. I did have to wait a while past my appointment time to be seen, however the care I received was well worth it. The nurse that took my vitals was kind and warm, and asked good questions. She gave me my most painless flu shot I’ve ever had! I had prepared some health questions for Janet and she listened to all my concerns, and provided knowledgeable care. I did not feel like I was being rushed, and left knowing I had found my new doctor.
