After a hard decision, I sent my son to SRS in 2020, 4 years ago. It changed his life for the better. It took him 2 years, but he did it. Was he 100% different, no, probably 80%, it's a work in progress. Your entire life you will work on your skills with your mental illness and behaviors, but he definitely came home so much better then when he left our family. Life was so much better, and we were able to have a relationship that we haven't had before and the sibling were too. The therapist was fantastic. He even did family therapy with one of the siblings at home that was having the most trouble with my son. He had a genuine interest in the entire family and having them be able to all work together. The entire staff at Sorenson's was wonderful and caring. His case manager would call weekly and update me with what was going on. They made sure he always had doctor and dentist appointments made when needed. If he was ever hurt, they would notify me and take him to the doctors. His favorite things were the campouts and the horses. Yes, you did have to earn them through your levels, which meant you needed to do your work and stay on task with your program. And if you weren't or got in trouble, you lost your points, and you started working on yourself again to earn them back. Things are a privilege and you learn that and you work for them. Yes there we're some people that may have been rougher than they needed to be with the kids but the kids figured out, don't misbehave, Get yourself in gear. My son made great friends while he was there. He even moved back and went to college in the area and was room mates with one of them. He also went back and wanted to work there to help the kids out, but wasn't old enough. Unfortunately almost a year after he graduated he was killed in a car accident. Some of the boys (friends) from the school came to his service, I didn't even know about them, and they shared wonderful stories about their experiences at the school with me. Some of them check in with me online just to see how I'm doing. There's a lot more good things that came out of the school then bad I can say. I highly recommend Sorensons Ranch School.

As a parent, entrusting someone else with my child—especially during his most vulnerable and difficult time—was one of the hardest decisions my family has ever made. Sending my son to White River Academy was not something our family took lightly, but I can honestly say it is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. From the moment my family connected with the team at White River, we felt heard, supported, and understood. They have taken the time to truly get to know my son—not just his struggles, but his strengths, his story, and his potential. The staff are incredibly professional, but even more importantly, they are kind, compassionate, and deeply committed to the young men they serve. White River Academy has been truly life-changing for us. We have been and still are impressed by the professionalism, compassion, and dedication of the staff. The program is designed with deep care and intention, focusing not just on behavior modification but on healing the whole person—mentally, emotionally, and physically. We appreciate how they involve us in the process and keep communication open every step of the way. Through therapy, structure, and a lot of patience, I can see my son begin to transform. It’s not overnight, but slowly and steadily we are seeing positive changes. What sets White River apart is their emphasis on relationship-based therapy and real-world accountability. The environment is structured yet supportive, helping my son rediscover his sense of purpose, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with our families in meaningful ways. The staff are not only highly qualified but also genuinely invested in the success of each student. We have found that Delta, Utah, is the perfect setting—quiet, grounded, and far removed from the chaos that had surrounded our lives. The area and building adds sense of peace, focus, minimalism and free from distractions. White River Academy is not a quick fix, but it is an incredibly effective and transformative program

I am the Executive Director of Millard Care & Rehabilitation in Delta, UT. I have worked over the years with many of the team members at White River Academy. We have successfully completed many service projects together. I am so impressed with the administrative team, including Jamie Orulian. I have worked with teachers such as Steven Brown and coaches and team members such as Mr. Will and David Greene. This is a team that values youth and their growth. These are people that exemplify what these great youth can emulate. There are other team members I could name, but I will recuse myself as a result of how high I hold them in esteem and my close relationship. An example of a project which was heart warming and impactful was the Christmas Card project this last Holiday Season! The youth wrote heartwarming messages to our residents at our nursing community and our residents read them or had them read and enjoyed a great experience together. This is the type of meaningful service this group does and the engaged service they participate in regularly.I for one am grateful and reflect often of the gratitude I have that they are in our community.Jeff ChristensenExecutive DirectorMillard Care & Rehabilitation (MCR)

My first encounter with White River Academy was one I will never forget, and each one after has continued to be much the same. I was going to judge by the "vibe" I felt when I walked in. I was greeted with friendly and helpful staff. Their interaction with the boys in their care was patient and kind. The facility is kept clean and decorated to the season with a creative flare, and the food is amazing. I was also impressed how organized everything was. They have live teachers and teachers assistants for their academic program, which is nice for the students to be able to get lessons directly without having to be online. Their therapists are creative and develop groups that are fun and interactive in addition to individual and family sessions. The thing that impressed me the most though was how much everyone really shows they care about helping these kids to be successful at life when they leave there. They take time with them and do what they can to help them understand things that maybe hasn't always made sense. You couldn't ask for more kind and caring people to help these young man walk this path in a very challenging part of their journey. I would highly recommend White River Academy should a residential treatment program ever be necessary.

This place changed my life!!! I came to Juniper canyon in February of 2022 absolutely broken and defeated. I was nervous to go here because of the reviews. But once I did, I did NOT regret it. The ladies at the desk were super nice and patient when the need for rescheduling or anything else arose. The counselor I see is awesome and not judgemental which is very important when in this industry and has been hard to find in the medical field in Utah not being an LDS member. Give them a chance. They have more than one counselor if the first doesn't work. I've also got my son into counseling here and I think he will do very well.

I had two of my children seen there for several months. Recovery was not on a slow, we need money basis like I've felt at other clinics. Through the years I've had one of my 10 children go to 6 different clinics for one thing or another while dealing with death, divorce, blending family and other things and our experiences here were top of the centers.

The facility is beautiful and maintained very well. I came here feeling like I had changed into a person I wasn t proud of after experiencing intense traumas throughout life, I am leaving feeling lighter and brighter and much more like the best parts of myself. The chefs are great and accommodating at all times, my therapist Kevin helped me through things I didn t think were things I could work through. The techs Chay, Natalie, Chelsea, and Kailea are full of kindness and will make you feel at home and secure. On the negative side I do think the program lacks consistent communication at times which can be triggering, to be told one thing and it ends up being different.

I would give Maple Mountain health and wellness 10+ stars if I could! Going there was the best thing I have ever done for myself in my whole life. I highly recommend this facility for anyone dealing with trauma. The modalities of therapy offered were life-changing. I learned many new life skills, and have tools to bring home as I continue my healing and recovery journey. I felt like I was in a safe, beautiful home with the most loving, caring, and kind staff you could ever ask for. The best part is that I made lifelong friends that I will cherish forever. The entire program is incredibly well structured, the staff and therapists are very knowledgeable and kudos to the chefs, as the food was not only nutritious, but phenomenal! Aside from the educational groups that range from group processing, yoga Nidra, sound bath, nutrition and wellness, equine and music therapy (my personal favorites) DBT, CBT, and stress management were incredibly valuable, and I learned so much from these programs. Jen was the first person I spoke with, and I knew in our conversation that this was the right place for me. I was warmly welcomed right from the beginning, and knew this journey would be healing and memorable. We also were able to have a lot of fun with the experiential activities they carefully planned for us. Special kudos to Vikki and Kevin, who went out of their way to give me the care and tools for me to maintain my recovery. I am forever grateful to every single person at Maple Mountain recovery. I researched the entire country for two weeks to find this place, and it was worth that time because they deserve every rave review they get! Super highly recommended and feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Thank you so much to everyone at MMR! I will never forget you and love you all💜

I came to MMR very very scared, I was in a constant out-of-body experience my first few days. The staff and even the clients were super supportive and calm around me. Everyone continued this encouraging, positive attitude and were very sensitive to my needs while I was here. The encouragement to attend group activities was important for me to come out of my shell. I'd say about two weeks in was when I really felt a part of the house, and began to see improvement in myself. To the staff at MMR ya'll are angels in disguise here on earth. You are doing the father's work, showing all us broken people love and hope. I appreciate my experience and am going home with tools I didn't have before. Thank you

My name is Marissa, and I attended New Haven (Spanish Fork Campus) from 2013 to 2014, residing in the Roosevelt house. I m writing this review to provide a balanced perspective in light of the recent negative attention New Haven has received from some former alumni. I hope my insights can help future parents in their decision-making.When I arrived at New Haven, I was transitioning from a physically demanding wilderness program called Second Nature. I was in great physical shape, weighing 140 pounds with a muscular build. However, during my time at New Haven, I experienced rapid weight gain, reaching a peak of 198 pounds by the time I left, and I m 5'5" tall. Despite my significant weight gain being monitored weekly, it didn t seem to raise alarms with the medical staff, which is something I believe could be improved. One aspect of my experience at New Haven was the treatment team. It could be intimidating to sit in a room with eight or so people evaluating my progress and behavior, especially when they shared feedback in front of other girls during our Thursday meetings. While this process could feel humiliating at times, I now understand the importance of accountability in a therapeutic environment. It s not about abuse; rather, it s about encouraging personal growth and forcing you to confront your actions and their consequences. On a positive note, I genuinely appreciated the daily routine at New Haven. The small school program offered focused, one-on-one attention that I desperately needed. Additionally, bringing my cat, Neko, home with me was a truly special part of my experience.I ve noticed that many individuals who express dissatisfaction with New Haven often struggle with gender dysphoria. In my opinion, New Haven may not be the best fit for children seeking gender identity therapy. Instead, I believe it effectively serves those dealing with issues such as substance abuse, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, hyper-promiscuity, family-related challenges, and occasionally eating disorders.Through reflection, I've come to realize that the consequences I faced at New Haven were a direct result of my actions rather than any form of abuse as stated in other reviews. While I sometimes felt that the consequences were overwhelming as a teenager, this experience ultimately led to my growth. Acknowledging my role in my circumstances was difficult but liberating. Although I hold some resentment for missing key moments in my teenage years, like prom and high school events, I am incredibly grateful to be sober and alive today. I cherish the memories I do have, especially considering the path I was on before coming to New Haven.I sometimes find myself missing the supportive environment at New Haven and would love the opportunity to return for a tour. Overall, my experience was complex, but it undeniably contributed to my growth and well-being. The road after has been challenging, but I learned invaluable tools to navigate issues like drug abuse, abusive relationships, and self-hatred. Now at 27, I do not regret my time at New Haven; in fact, I sometimes wish I had appreciated it more. This establishment is not abusive; it s a place that encourages you to face your reality and grow from it. As hard as it is, it s not abusive.

About a year ago, after experiencing a completely ineffective 60 day residential treatment program, my daughter, who had been struggling with profound emotional health concerns, including depression and anxiety manifesting in substance abuse, self harm and several suicide attempts, was completing her second 60 day residential treatment program, which had proven to be very impactful and transformative. While this outcome was very welcome and encouraging, as discharge approached, I was faced with the difficult choice of bringing my daughter home and hoping for the best, or continuing her treatment with a long term residential treatment program. After thoughtful deliberation and vetting, I opted for the long term residential treatment program offered at New Haven Academy.During the vetting process, and when I ultimately brought my daughter to New Haven for admission, I was scared, vulnerable and emotionally drained. I was about to commit my daughter and myself to a year long residential treatment program away from home and at significant cost - something no parent should ever have to consider. The process, commitment and cost seemed daunting. However, upon reflecting on the challenges, events and experiences that led us to residential treatment, as well as on the research and vetting I had completed on several long term residential treatment centers, I made the decision to trust my work and the staff I had met and connected with at New Haven thus far.I admitted my daughter to New Haven on February 5th, 2024. As I write this letter, it is February 14th, 2025; my daughter s transition day. During my research process, most likely similar to yours, I was provided with a virtual tour of New Haven, which included a brief interview with two current (at the time) New Haven students. When I asked what they valued most about the program, they both immediately responded with the level of parental and family engagement required of the program. This really resonated with me, as I knew truly transformative and impactful change could only occur with my intentional engagement and participation. Other important elements that stood out to me were its robust array of therapeutic supports, including substance abuse support and recreational therapy, its sports program and its serious and rigorous academic program. My past year with my daughter at New Haven has been so positive and transformative for both her and me individually and us as a family. We have both learned so much about ourselves, and have learned to really see and understand each other authentically and with intention. As a parent in my mid 50s, I pushed myself to show up physically and emotionally for every therapy session and programmed multi-family event. This also meant completing with intention all of the parent homework included in the New Haven program handbook, as well as various projects assigned by our therapist.Throughout our time in the program, I always felt supported through our primary therapist, programmed activities, such as support calls and Parent Weekends, and by individual parent coaching. The result was that, while my daughter and I had a good foundational relationship before starting at New Haven, I learned about emotional blind spots I had, and how to overcome them to show up for her to repair, rebuild and strengthen our relationship with a much deeper trust and connection, and she has learned how to effectively and consistently identify, cope with and overcome the emotional challenges she was struggling with.Whether you are in the process of considering New Haven Academy for your family, or you are in the early days of the program, I hope sharing our experience with you helps you with your decision and gives you hope for a healthy and fulfilling future for you and your daughter. You and your family will heal together, become more connected than you thought possible and you will all become stronger and more resilient. My very best wishes to you,Jason Lopez

Steps Recovery without a doubt changed my life for the better. From day 1, I was treated respectfully and with compassion by the entire staff. After putting off treatment for several years and nearly losing my family, I reached out to them and was immediately made a priority. I was the last person on earth that wanted to go to treatment. The level of counseling was far beyond what I expected as well as the staff there who were instrumental in my recovery. I owe the entire staff there more than I d ever be able to pay back. My therapist was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable and I can t thank him enough. We were never cooped up in a room all day. We had not only mental and emotional coaching, but physical and outdoor activity which helped immensely. If you re reading this and deciding on whether or not to get help here, do it right now. This place and these people will save your life! You just have to check your ego and go. Best of luck to anyone reading this!!

My experience with this particular facility has been nothing but a positive situation for me. The staff, all the way from the Director down to the office girls have been almost like a family to me. The compassion that I have been shown means so much to me & out of all the programs I have encountered, this one is by far the BEST. My councilor has also been a positive force in my life & really gone to bat for me. But most of all, although everyone remains very professional, they are all very caring & treat me with respect. I'm very grateful for this place & I just would like to say "THANK YOU". Sincerely, Jeff Butterfield

The thing you have to remember, is that this is a rehab! So all the reviews saying that they are terrible, you may want to take with a grain of salt!I had a great experience with Foothill. Ricky really changed that place for the best, and he worked his butt off with not only the staff, but the clients too, to try to figure out a Happ medium! You can't have everything you want when you're coming off drugs and alcohol! It's a facility that has guidelines and rules! Believe me, I tested and pushed both, and at times told some members of the staff things I shouldn't have said!!! Ricky could have kicked me out a couple times, but worked his tail off with me, and the staff to get me through! I completed the 90 day program a little bit early, cause I started doing the work, and going the extra miles it took. I still struggle now and again but I'll always look here first! Thanks to all of you at foothill that was there th times I've came through! You guys are awesome!

Matr isnt a ordinary rehab program ..although 12 step program is in the curriculum it is a small portion of the rehabilitation process ...the staff and counselors have all been patients or in recovery themselves. When first walking thru the door u feel as if u just got to ur favorite aunt or relatives house u would visit yearly..you know the ones who never judged u but always made sure u knew when u were * !@&? Up and gave u wisdom and advice to get thru it..jeanie is the sweetest REALEST people ive ever met..no matter the issue if ur genuine and u give 116% she will have ur back and shes saved alot of lives .kept alot of people from dying ,and serving life sentences in prison.shes known world wide and people listen when she speaks..hasnt been like that always if u know her story.but she spoke up for recovery addiction and other important issues and has gotten alot of laws and bills passed.you work with horses the environment is beautiful..not to mention the mind body and soul work ..its amazing what you learn..this is where u want to be if you want to change ur life..and u can smoke cigarettes .lol..

I was enrolled at provo canyon school in June of 2023 now look the program itself isn't a bad program, if your going through it need to get your mind right than this might be good for you too I needed it that's for sure, I will say thus place is better than many other facilities. However the staff that were being hired was insane. There was no way these people were having background checks done, the shadyness was insane, the only time the facility was picked up or cleaned up was when state was coming in for a tour otherwise the structure was horrible and the place was a mess not mention violating many health codes and patient rights codes, with boards on windows restricting kids in stabilization from seeing anything or getting any sort of light, what should have been done was there should have been proper windows installed and there should have been blur tint like all the other dorms if it was such a concern, instead of treating those kids like prisoners because there minds weren't completely right in the moment. There was hardly any outside time for open dorms and most kids preferred to be on stable so they could have those kinds of privileges because they were not offered to the kids who were behaving although it should have been that way, the higher ups not the best, self absorbed I would say and only cared about there personal life, we had a cheer team and there new and upcoming Ceo Trish led the team but always made it seem like she didn't wanna be there, the only higher up I will really give it to is Claudia, she could always make me smile and was so kind. Honestly could have sat there and talked to her for hours. Everyone else as a higher up slacked and didn't do there job which is why so many kids were injured throughout the years, Aka the staff and kid aggression incidents, I Also have to give a great thanks to the amazing therapists I ahd time to get to work with because with out them the program would have been extremely difficult Kasi, who was my therapist. Honestly the most amazing. As well as Elsie,Heather and lesie also super amazing and supportive therapists, like I said there women are so strong, hardworking and kind and truly love there kids these therapists were always so dedicated to making sure there kids would succeed. So this 5 star rating goes to the people that made the place better not the ones who didn't just had to make sure that is clear.
