Mostly ok to good but you get that occasional person that just wants a check and you are bothering them in the meantime. For intake, meaning you're staying for detox which is 5 days or staying 90 days you'll need to go through intake. Show up at 8:30am. Trust me you'll save yourself hours and getting from intake to your bed can take the whole day so showing up early is important. There are 2 mandatory classes you have to attend not to be kicked out. One in the morning and one in the evening Set alarms on your phone for everything. Eating, pills, classes and snack time. Never disrespect your instructor. If he has his way of doing things then follow it even if your way is better. Many of them came from where you are a few years prior so they have no problem getting ghetto with you for not following the rules. Buy your own pillow and blanket. If you're in detox you'll need 3 blankets and still cold. I wore my jacket to bed. Utalize the therapists that are there for you. You need to sign up for this individually. Nobody is going to tell you. If you need a license or ID from DMV get a voucher from your councilor. Every package you get will be inspected. For snacks I recommend ordering from Amazon. Then when the snacks show up you need to play dumb. Make up an excuse like this was sent to me. It's ok. Store the snacks in your personal bin. Then when the guy who's working is cool go say you need your bin. Then load up your snacks in your bag then bring them upstairs. Snacks! I recommend hiding these from staff room searches. You can vape weed. You'll have to sneak it in but I highly recommend it. There are giant windows always open in your room and bathroom. Go to the bathroom unless your roommates are cool otherwise vape from your bed. Hide your stash. People steal Get a tripod for your cellphone so you can watch TV or movies Bring a large coffee or insulated mug larger than 20 ozs. You're going to need it. You need minimal clothes. Clothes are washed every day and delivered to you. Bring smokes and some lighters even if you don't smoke. Menthol a plus You'll have a lot of time to work out your life. The young Asian receptionist on the 5th floor was especially friendly and kind. They don’t have many patients at once so I did not have to worry so much about others while I was there and able to focus solely on myself. Big shout out to Alicia and Gus. Alicia helped me deal with my HR Rep and insurance so that I didn’t have to. I don’t know that I could have done anything of the sort during that first week. I came in having zero knowledge of how any of it worked and Alicia was able to answer all of my questions and help with whatever was needed. I felt that Alicia truly looked out for each client. As a technician, Gus really took the time and effort to help me with the entire process. I was clueless when I first walked in but I felt taken care of and looked after. I felt that Gus really cared for all of the patients on a personal level. He tried to connect with each of us and shared his knowledge and hope with the whole group. Overall, I felt safe here. Which is huge when dealing with addiction and being afraid of asking for help. I was able to worry only about my recovery knowing that everything else was being looked after. I recommend to anyone dealing with addiction needing to separate themselves from their substance as the first step on their recovery journey. For my three visits across six weeks, I saw Pearl Norimoto, who was excellent in providing care. Very client centered, veteran staff, many of whom have worked here for many years... They prioritize client needs and the client's experience, and safety. Well maintained, clean, beautiful facility. Bilingual program, signs are in English and Spanish and groups are interpreted for Spanish only speakers. This is a social model program, like the other ADUs in San Francisco. There are multiple therapeutic groups per day, counseling, referral to case management or other services in San Francisco, and meals included. You're allowed to leave the facility to attend to errands, appointments, or outside support after an initial "orientation" period. They will help set you up with whatever resources you may need. At LEAST three employees still work here (it's April 2024, my last visit was in 2012). Call Dore Urgent Care Clinic or speak to a case manager for referral. Typical length of stay: Two weeks, possible referral to longer term residential treatment. Medicare and/or Medi-Cal, Healthy San Francisco, no insurance, Kaiser accepted. I have had therapy sessions with her over the last six months, during this period she has been working conscientiously. She was always thorough and she showed a lot of empathy. Specifically, on one occasion when I received two consecutive lease violation notices from my building management, which I perceived as laying the foundation for my eviction, I was going through a very bad anxiety which resulted in panic attacks. I contacted her and informed her of that. She acted very professionally and contacted me momentarily and talked to me and gave a bunch of advice for dealing with the dilemma which I found very helpful. Only then did I find out she really cares about her clients wellbeing. She also added that I could always contact her on the phone or through email if my condition worsens and she will do whatever it takes to get me through this. Hope everybody is doing well. J 1 year ago In 2014 to 2015 I spent 3 plus months at this wonderful hospital recovering from a broken back, broken ankles etc. The staff cared. The doctors gave all the attention I needed. The nurses and nurse aids helped me with everything. I couldn’t go to the bathroom since both ankles had been broken. They took care of me. They have a wonderful pool that I used for physical therapy and occupational therapy. The farm has goats and I was able to visit it on a wheel chair and later on a walker to get around. The staff was from all over the world Indians, Americans, Chinese. It was as diverse of staff as the wonderful city of San Francisco. A true reflection of our great city diversity.
