About Life Center of Galax

Life Center of Galax is a residential, outpatient, and detox facility in Galax, Virginia, that treats drug addiction and alcohol abuse. Assistance is given to individuals who are 18 years or older dealing with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. Additional services that are available at this facility include relapse prevention and treatment, family therapy and day support. Clients who are unsure about seeking treatment can take their free online assessment to help with making a decision. Life Center of Galax accepts payment through various private insurance providers. They provide treatment to both men and women and offer gender specific group sessions.

One thing that I like about this facility is that it offers addiction treatment for a variety of drugs. Clients can receive help for addictions to heroin, marijuana, meth and other substances. They also provide assistance for those struggling with prescription drug addiction. Life Center of Galax features a qualified staff that includes board certified psychiatrists, licensed counselors and nurse practitioners. Most patients will start by undergoing their detox program with assistance from the 24 hour nursing staff. If medication assisted treatment is necessary for opiate addiction, patients may receive methadone, Vivitrol or buprenorphine. All of the medications are designed to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings.

In the residential treatment program, clients receive assessments, testing and interviews to develop a treatment plan. The treatment plan is also adjusted throughout the time the client is there. Therapeutic treatments that clients may receive include reality therapy, experiential therapy and cognitive therapy.

In the outpatient drug rehab program, clients receive a less intense approach through day support that gives them the flexibility to leave the center after the completion of treatment for the day. Services in this program include group therapy and leisure activities.

***EDIT*** LCG is ONLY about the money they can get from the insurance companies. My review below this edit was bribed out of me, for a king size chocolate bar! 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ The only one on one time I got was when my counselor would meet with me and talk about BS and then I'd be on my way. Not only did my aftercare plan completely fall apart, I should have gotten my completion certificate but I did not, it said transitioned to aftercare which didn't happen! Had it not been for ONE crisis company open that day I would of been outside with all my belongings in the middle of where I had pretty much come from (not a good area), luckily I got some help elsewhere and now can rebuild my life. I wasted over two months, missed Thanksgiving and Christmas with my kids for a BS program that is only about getting the $$$$ from people's insurance. SMH. & Don't get me started on how many people OD'ed just while I was there. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! This is my second time at Galax, the first time around I wasn’t at rock bottom (there’s a basement, who knew😣). Since coming here last month, I’ve come such a long way and I couldn’t have made the progress I have if it weren’t for the staff members I’ve worked with over the last several weeks. I appreciate the weekly one on one sessions and am thankful Dr. Quanco listened to me regarding my mental health conditions because I am in the best head space of my entire adult life! Nowhere is perfect, which is why I give 4 🌟 , I seriously thank the staff for taking the time to work with me and not just push me to the side.

Accepted Insurance

Life Center of Galax works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Intake employees were very nice and respectful and attentive to my needs as a patient, day to day staff seems to try for the most part to help patients but don't really b understand what we day in and day out, one thing I would highly suggest though would be empa by ttwining EDIT: This review was basically forcibly written as a response to the center "allowing me" to file my taxes while I was there, yes you read that right, in order for them to allow me to file my taxes they basically strong armed me into writing a positive review for them because of how terribly they are doing and how badly people hate the place nowadays

You guys are the worst. You act like you care so much but you're just looking for the money in your pocket. You refuse to call back and talk to family who are on the HIPPA you refuse to have other relay the call back message or maybe you don't even pass along the message to the person we have called. You talk about this 60 to 90 day program but you will send them home way faster because you don't give a damn and you just wanted to waste othersters time and money. You don't actually want your people sober because then they wouldn't come back. You let ppl sit around talking about all the "cool storis" of how they used to be high right in front of addicts trying to get clean. You guys are a joke and should be shut down!!!!!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you for sharing this with us—it’s certainly concerning to read. Your feedback is invaluable and will be taken seriously as we review the matter.

This place is a nightmare. If you or any of your family go here, I am so so sorry for you/them. It is impossible to get ANYBODY on the phone, you will be leaving voicemails that NEVER get returned. Several. FOR WEEKS. I had to use an online tool to track down the personal cell phones of the director's names from their website in order to speak to somebody and know my mom was even alive here. Inside is disgusting - it is not even remotely properly cleaned or adequately maintained. Not sure where their money is going, my guess is administration is getting paid bank to do next to nothing while they let the place fall apart.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your feedback. The concerns raised are important, and we take them seriously.

Length of stay appears to be based on insurance approval. You can graduate in 30 days if your insurance pays for it but if they'll pay for 45 days then that will be your completion level. Coping skills taught and heavy reliance on 12-step program groups. Unclear treatment plan, poor discharge plan, family engagement minimal and underlying issues of addiction not fully addressed. Would only recommend for immediate intervention and detox.
