I transferred from Metropolitan hospital in Manhattan to Steinway Wellness and Recovery over 9 years ago and I am very happy. I see a therapist, Christine, and psychiatrist, Dr. Jean Bart.
My mother is a patient there and had told me they had openings and I transferred. My mother’s doctor is Dr. Yael.
I was diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder 27 years ago and always followed doctors instructions. One of the most important things you need to do, is take your medication everyday which I do.
I read some negative reviews and I was surprised because that is not my experience.
Some people were making comments about how their family members are doing and that they reached out to the doctors. HIPPA law requires to keep people medical issues private. You may think the doctors don’t care but you can not discuss people’s medical history to just anyone.
If this facility closes, it would hurt a lot of people. They have a computer room, a main room with a pool table, and other activities.
Because of Covid they had to stop the activities for now.
But I see my therapist in person and talk to the psychiatrist over the phone. Once things are better I will see my psychiatrist in person.
Again. I am truly happy here and hope this place never closes. I am lucky to have the two people who treat me.

My counselor Ashley was amazing and full of such positive energy and empathy towards my situation. If you are ready to make a change in your life/future, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her!! I felt truly listened and understood.
The Nursing Staff is amazing and they are there to not just keep you on track with your health needs, but they absolutely are on YOUR SIDE each and everyday.

There's no such thing as a 5 star detox, you're not necessarily there to have fun. That being said, if you absolutely have to go to detox, I would recommend Serenity at Summit. Dr. Williams is a great Doctor, and a good man. The nurses are kind and caring, with some expectations. The counselor's do there jobs, some better than others. The tech's all get 5 stars! Really kind, caring, people who are very likeable, and do a great job. The rooms are good, you'll likely get a private room since most people transition after 7 to 10 days. The food was mostly atrocious, but I had zero appetite, so don't go by me. Overall Serenity contributed greatly to the beginning of my journey toward sobriety, so as difficult as my stay was, I'm greatful to have endured it, and I would go back again if I absolutely had to.

I did some digging on their site and | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I have been to a few IOP programs and I would with out question say that this program is by far the best. Had to take my husband on Saturday 05/10/25 to Holy Name Hospital. I've been to this hospital countless times, bc I like it, their service overall is decent. So it seems hubby has a bad virus, not flu or covid but possibly a type of coronavirus. That day, there was a nurse, not sure if she was an LPN or CNA bc I couldnt see her tag well but her name was Keyla Silva and she was stellar! I have never written a review about a nurse but she was awesome! So kind, caring, helpful and I really felt that she was genuine and wanted to help. she offered us both warm blankets, a pillow for my husband, water, etc. she took off my husbands socks and put the hospital ones on him, like I could've done that myself but she insisted and I thought, this is different, this is a nurse that cares. She checked on us several times, more so than the actual nurse. Not to disparage the RNs but after a while it just becomes common place to do well but not always go above and beyond and that could be because they already work a lot and are tired. But Keyla was the sweetest, friendliest nurse and I just wanted to commend her because it made a huge difference in our night. Thank you Keyla, I hope your superiors acknowledge your hard work. You're definitely a special nurse that people will remember.

‘Hurt People , Hurt People’. I needed a free therapist and was able to have 5 intake sessions with a pleasant young woman. I benefited from these sessions as it is always rewarding when we analyze and acknowledge what is going on in our lives. So much was happening for me and I was not able to attend all the assigned sessions. Management was not able to communicate in a responsible or mature manner; I wonder maybe they too are prior clients who have graduated but do not have a total grip on their situation and sometimes need help themselves. My very pleasant intake person became insensitive, cold, ‘passive aggressive’ and quite non communicative. I lead the conversation and realized that I was being ‘expelled’. I really don’t know the reason as I do believe she has her own issues and the Leadership is not of a strong foundation with knowledge of servicing a diverse clientele. Such a shame because this has the potential to be a top notch program in a great community. I only wish I was able to find an experienced, strong, qualified leadership that is familiar with diversity and respect. I was feeling hurt as this was the second time I had to deal with leadership’s lack of sensitivity. It should not be just a JOB when people come to you for help. Fix the structure of this place.

Although they get more than their fair share of rude & crazy people in the Registration area, the ENTIRE staff never, never lost their empathy, their desire to help the sick and their business composition. When you got inside the ER part was where they really SHINED you felt much better allready, like you was inside of a well run ER. IMC may NOT be in a fancy area of Brooklyn, may Not be a fancy hospital like those in the city...but many other hospitals need the the type of nurses IMC has ( LIKE B.CAMBELL) and the director of ER MS. ALSTON, (if I remember correcty) whom TAKE PRIDE in their facility regardless of what they have and whatever city grants they get to do their jobs well, ALL the staff from the cleaners to the security guards where on point. if I wasn't retired I will go to work with them in a heartbeat. My sincere gratitud for a JOB WELL DONE since 2021 when I belive I was there the 1st time!! THANKS! ms hyland!
