God, what a terrible hospital, the nurses seem to have no family, they treat people horribly, they must do something to improve, the nurses take care of people and throw away the garbage on the floor.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If I can give this hospital a ZERO I would. This is literally the worst hospital in the Bronx, like the worst. The way they treat the patients is ridiculous. I was there from 12 in the afternoon till 4 am the next day. I was not one of those annoying patients and still was treated like shyt. The staff have disgusting attitudes. I had an IV &’ told them the fluids going in was burning me and hurting &’ they kept the IV, now my damn forearm is swollen with a black and blue. The doctor was laughing at the fact that I needed a Medicaid cab &’ I lost my cool. This is supposed to b a professional environment. There is nothing professional about this place. Not only is the staff horrible but the doctors stereo type and some are racist. The hospital it self is beyond dirty. Like do not go here please like do yourself the favor and don’t. They will rob your insurance for they’re money and treat you horribly.

I recently underwent surgery here and I couldn’t be more grateful for the outstanding care I received. From the moment I arrived, every member of the team—from the front desk to the surgical staff—was professional, attentive, and kind. The woman at registration personality was uplifting and funny and kind she definitely eased my nerves upon walking in The surgical team was exceptional. Dr. Tonsor thoroughly explained the procedure, answered all of my questions, and made me feel completely at ease. Although I had some tough veins the Anesthesiologist was amazing and was empathetic and kind ,truly I had an exceptional surgical team everyone was amazing. The operation went smoothly, and I was kept informed every step of the way. All the nurses and post-op care team were incredibly supportive, ensuring I was comfortable and well cared for. I truly felt like I was in good hands the entire time. Thank you to everyone for making a potentially scary experience one that I’ll remember with gratitude. Highly recommended for anyone needing expert surgical care!

I'm appalled at the level of incompetence of the medical team here. My car was hit by a truck with my children inside. We came here and the doctors acted more like insurance agents than a medical team. I just got a call from billing stating a completely different story than what happened. A story they made me repeat 10 times and still wrote something else down that I hit a parked car. They had my son in the Xray room asking him over and over again if I always drive crazy. He came out telling me they kept wanting to pressure him to say I drive crazy after he told them no several times. This was my first accident in 16 years of driving (never had an accident). These are the same people telling me they could see any trauma on my leg, as if all trauma is visible to the naked eye. With all this, they were still not able to find out what's wrong with my and my son's legs and just wanted to give us pain killers and throw us out the door. This is what happens when insurance companies have bought the heads of people who pretend to practice medicine.

If i could give them zero stars i would. I dropped my husband at ER at 4am March 20th He was in completely debilitating pain. He was seen and sent home around 8am after a Tylonel shot and given 2 oxy tables. A week later we didn't bother going back to Barnabus after such a terrible experience but the pain was excruciating and he hadn't slept for 2 weeks and numbness in his hand was getting worst. I took him to Overlook, he was seen, listened to, given something to calm the pain, he was given an xray and an MRI and then admitted as an emergency patient. He needed emergency SPINE surgery and 3 vertebra disc replacments, which they performed the following morning. The lack of care in the ER at Barnabus is appauling. I would encourage anyone who reads this to go to Overlook. He is now in week 6 of his recovery. i have called the hospital ti let them know and to dispute their $3800 bill but i was informed they felt they had done what was expected. If they had treated him properly and given him an Xray he wouldn't now be in a position where he may not get the feeling in his hand back.

Do Not Go Here! I wish I could put No StARs. I am a CNA. This hospital was in violation of so many HIPPA LAWS. Dr or Resident Tai Peters told me that the hospital can not afford a MRI. Then continues that he doesn’t want to waste the hospital money on a MRI for me. I couldn’t walk. It’s was also extremely hard for me to breathe with my spinal pain and I was scared. I limped in St. B and left with a stiff neck. The a/c was blowing so high. I also waited 4+ hrs for him to see me for him to just send me home to see my primary care doctor. I was upset at how this hospital handled my situation. This wasn’t my first time here but it will be my last. By the way Mr. Tai, Peters wanted to check my back in front of the other patient. I had to tell him politely that “I have a right to my privacy. I will not expose myself in front of these other people. Please take me to a room. Thank you. He was mad but he did it.”

My girlfriend and I came to the ER to do a regular check up on our unborn baby. We did urine and blood test, then pelvic exam and finally an ultrasound. We were here for a total of 8 hours for these simple procedures. On a scale from 1-10 of busyness of the ER, I would give it a 4. We had to keep asking for updates because we felt like we were forgetting about. Also, shift change is around 7pm - 8pm and no visitors are allowed back in until shift change is complete.
