About The Bergand Group

The Bergand Group provides addiction treatment including co-occurring disorder treatment. They have two locations with one in Lutherville, Maryland, that serves clients in the Baltimore county area.

This clinic is in-network with BCBS, Cigna,TRICARE East, Magellan and Maryland Medicaid. If out of network benefits are available in your plan, Cigna, Aetna and United Healthcare are also accepted.

Outpatient Programs in Maryland

Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) runs three-hour group sessions each day. There are daytime, evening and weekend groups available. I like that classes are so frequent so you can fit treatment easily into your schedule. They also have a virtual IOP option to make treatment even more accessible.

Their phase II group is also known as outpatient treatment. This group can be a step down from the IOP or for folks who don’t need treatment that is as intensive as what’s offered in the IOP.

DUI/DWI Programs for Baltimore County

These educational programs are for people who’ve been issued a DWI or DUI in the state of Maryland. They are state-certified and will satisfy any court requirements. I like that this program is offered virtually so that location isn’t an issue.

They have rolling admissions into their program. You’ll get two hours of class each week for a total of six weeks. As part of this program, clients are screened for appropriate treatment which could include the IOP or 26 or 52-week aftercare programs.

Claim to be top notch but they're just like every other treatment center and want to overbill me and my insurance company. I am forced to attend what my insurance will cover, not what's best for my schedule and my family. And of course they know I have to comply or I will be in trouble.

I highly recommend The Bergand Group, in Lutherville, to anyone struggling with addiction. I was pointed in their direction to continue with my recovery after leaving an inpatient program, and they have truly been a blessing. Each member of their team has guided me along the way. SARAH, IAN, BOBBY, COURTNEY, GINA, WENDI, and DIONNE... you all help way more than you know!!

I've have been through many IOP and OP programs through out my battle with alcoholism. By far they are the best I've had the pleasure to deal with. Their councilor's and doctors are top notch. Especially Melissa and Deon. All they care about is to help you.

Accepted Insurance

The Bergand Group works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Ian is the best! Always goes above and beyond in scheduling appointments, calling in refills when I need them and he sends out plenty reminders as far as reminding me about my appointments. The office runs smother and he is ALWAYS happy to help. Hope he gets a raise or at least a bonus!!

I would give a zero if offered. I went in for an assessment, to which I did not feel that was the place for me. At the assessment I gave the receptionist my insurance card and was told their was NO COPAY. Next thing I know they billed me $214. I was told it was a valid charge because of the mountain of paperwork I signed. They took NO RESPONSIBILITY for misinforming me about the fee they would charge. STAY AWAY!!!!! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!! AND HAVE NO EMPATHY OR UNDERSTANDING FOR SOMEONE WHO CANNOT PAY $214 FOR AN HOUR "ASSESMENT". They would not negotiate a lower price and even referred me to a different facility so they were 100% aware I was not coming back. I repeat STAY AWAY FROM THESE GREEDY PEOPLE!!! THEY PASS THE BUCK.

Before I start, Melissa, you were great. You genuinely care! Keep doing you! Okay…. So earlier today I was pretty upset after I relapsed right after being discharged from Bergand. I posted screen shots from staff and a lengthy explanation of how I was treated. Instead, I decided to just leave this here. After half a decade with them, I figured I’d sit on all of my info and really think about things since my emotions are a little clouded, still, I would really reconsider other alternatives before you send a loved one here. Shortened version, I was discharged for non-complacency, even though I was complacent for the first 3 years (those were the years they weren’t understaffed)…. This time around… a lot changed… my doctor not only rescheduled appointments last minute, but straight up missed an appointment. I was accused of missing that one until I asked my counselor to check herself. When she found out she was wrong… instead of admitting she messed up, she continued the blame game and accused me using cause my levels had yet to fully dissipate. The day my doctor no showed me was a med refill. And my assigned counselor didn’t even respond when I asked to meet when I had concerns. Instead I got radio silence from them until a valid excuse was found to get rid of me.. and I believe it was because I called them on their neglect. From dropping the ball delivering a pre-authorization form to my insurance company (documented incomplete totaling 5 times) to accusing me of using when I was sober… which I WAS for almost 3 months until yesterday :( I guess right now all I have to say is if you or a loved one is struggling, please seek help, just maybe don’t do it here

My experience at the Bergan Group in Fallston was truly the turning point in my recovery. From the kindness and understanding of the staff, to the practical tools taught during sessions on how to navigate the day-to-day ups/downs in life, were incredibly helpful to me. It was here that I was able to finally learn to live in this world with more positivity, strength, and self-confidence than I had before. All without alcohol-- something that seemed nearly impossible not so long ago. I highly recommend The Bergand Group in Fallston for anyone who has a desire to change for the better, no matter where you are along your road of recovery. Rest assured there is no judgement here. You don't have to struggle alone any longer. Join The Bergand group family and you will see.

I stopped going to their IOP program because the people in group were all still using and drugging. The psychiatrist discharged me because HE cited my mental health was "not a priority." I guess he assumed my mental health was never a priority because almost every visit, he would comment on my weight, unprovoked. I was never a big fan of the doctor, and when I brought my concerns to the addiction counselors, I was met with, "Oh, he has a weird bedside manner."

The quality of care is tremendous. The staff is very professional and understanding. They really help their patients with all of their problems. They offer many services and are great one stop operation for all of your needs. The counselors are caring and they have a unique ability to understand each patient individually.
