About Walter Hoving Home

What stands out most to me is their outstanding campus. They create the ideal atmosphere to step away from daily triggers and focus on healing. The serene landscapes, rivers, waterfalls and rolling hills of Upstate New York will surround you. You’ll live next to a Tudor mansion on the hilltop with beautiful architecture, a large chapel and two large dorms for residents. They provide a comfortable space for privacy, relaxation and reflection.

As a ministry of Adult and Teen Challenge, their long term program uses Biblical principles and proven interventions to promote long term recovery. You may participate in individual and group counseling, parenting classes, peer support groups, addiction education and relapse prevention training. They might also offer vocational rehab, recreational activities and anger management.

Another incredible feature I noticed is their emphasis on building a relationship with God. Their programs foster spiritual growth by helping you connect with a higher power. You’ll benefit from learning more about God and forming an intimate relationship that can help you sustain recovery.

I also love that their program is founded on family concepts. They strive to help you feel at home and open up in treatment. They offer a welcoming community where you can connect with other women on similar paths and grow together. You’ll learn from other women, respect each other, and help each other in challenging times. That way, you’ll leave their program with a mutually beneficial network of peers.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Hoving Home. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the love, peace, and purpose that fills the entire property. It’s truly a beautiful, serene place that creates a safe and healing environment for women seeking transformation. The staff is incredibly compassionate and dedicated, and the volunteers go above and beyond to support each woman’s journey. What really sets this program apart is the genuine sisterhood that is built—it’s not just for the time you’re there, but something that lasts a lifetime. The Hoving Home didn’t just help me—it completely changed me. Through their Christ-centered approach, I was reintroduced to Jesus in a deeply personal and meaningful way. That alone has impacted every area of my life for the better. If you or someone you love is struggling and needs help, I wholeheartedly encourage you to consider The Hoving Home. It is a place of true transformation, hope, and new beginnings. I am forever grateful for this ministry and all it has done for me.

10/10 the best rehabilitation/discipleship program. This place saved my life! Graduated in 2019 after being a homeless heroin/crack addict for years. This place gave me the space and time to grow a real relationship with Jesus. I had no hope and no self worth. Today I am 7 3/4 yrs clean from heroin and crack. I have a Salary and an apartment in Houston TX, happily married for 3 years. I also had been through many other programs before I came to the Hoving Home in Garrison NY. Do not let your excuses no matter what they are get in the way of giving yourself a chance. They are excuses. This is the opportunity of a real chance at a successful life. I’m forever grateful for all this place has to offer.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Participants in 12 step programs maintain access to community-based peer support, which is the programs' primary treatment modality. 12 step recovery combines personal growth with paper coaching. Participants regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. They are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who guide them through the steps of recovery. Age and gender specific and other specialized formats are common.

For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Life changing!

I was transformed by Jesus and the love and kindness of the staff and supporters of Hoving Home. I have never went back to my old life of addiction and incarceration. It's been over 8 years and I am still in awe everyday! Thank you HH for your love, acceptance and support!

Nobody should ever put their child or go to this program. I am a strong believer in Jesus but they have ridiculous none life helping mentality where you are stuck there thinking that their way is the best way. Please listen you are not signing up to change or get help these woman are mean. They force you to join a choir, pray at 6am do choirs and clean all day attend Bible school which is BS and you learn nothing. Ask your families for money and charity for all types of donations that are being pocketed. They are not saving anybody they're destroying people's egos. There are so many better sober living facilities that gets you a job, brings you to church, let's you see your family and live your life! "Sober living of America" is one of them in North Carolina and "We Are living proof" is another one in Georgia! I'm not here to promote I'm here to help! Stay blessed and don't fall for it.
