About the Facility
Cornerstone of Recovery is a luxury alcohol and drug rehabilitation center in Louisville, Tennessee. They help young adults overcome addiction and cope with associated mental health disorders through an intensive outpatient program and inpatient care with modern amenities. They also provide specialized programs for women and career professionals.
Addiction and behavioral services offered by Cornerstone Recovery include detox, education, therapy, counseling, and 12 step recovery groups. Their programs follow the biopsychosocial spiritual model.
Inpatient residential treatment sees clients come to the facility and live on campus, typically for 35 days. While living on campus, clients receive highly managed care from clinically trained staff, including medical detox, psychiatric therapy, group and individual therapy, and fitness therapy. Cornerstone of Recovery’s program seeks to engage clients physically and mentally to create a comprehensive individualized recovery plan.
IOP is best for those who are in the early stages of addiction. They visit the facility four days a week for three hour sessions that include the same types of care as the inpatient residential program. Clients in IOP do not live onsite, so clients opting for this program must demonstrate that they are in a stable and supportive living situation. Depending on a client’s needs and concerns, IOP can be used alone or before or after residential treatment.
Many people with addiction disorders suffer from other mental health issues that make recovery all the more difficult. The dual diagnosis program offers psychiatric services that address conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and more, alongside addiction treatment, to significantly reduce the chance of relapse.
Cornerstone of Recovery provides MAT using the medication Vivitrol when appropriate. When used as part of a broader program, Vivitrol is a powerful tool in the early stages of addiction that has been shown to have long term success. In addition, the MAT program is closely monitored by medical staff to ensure client safety and comfort.
Cornerstone of Recovery is accredited by the Joint Commission and is LegitScript certified.

Treatment
Alcoholism
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a treatable condition characterized by uncontrolled consumption of alcohol which continues despite negative consequences. Treatment options for alcohol addiction include inpatient or outpatient alcohol rehab in Tennessee. Therapeutic methods include group and individual therapy, medication, and holistic therapies. Aftercare is often provided through 12-step support groups, which offer ongoing accountability and encouragement.
Drug Addiction
When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.
Dual Diagnosis
In Tennessee, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Offered on an outpatient or inpatient basis, addiction experts utilize evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), together with recovery and skills groups, to address both disorders and promote mental health. You’ll also receive comprehensive aftercare planning and relapse prevention training.
Opioid Addiction
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance Abuse
Substance abuse treatment in Tennessee is available in addiction treatment centers, where experienced addiction professionals can treat both substance use disorders. Typically, clinicians use a range of evidence-based therapies such as a biopsychosocial assessment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to get a complete picture of your mental health, support systems, and motivation to change. Through an individualized treatment plan, you’ll receive the support you need to achieve long-term sobriety through new skills and relapse prevention strategies.

Levels of Care
Medically Assisted Detox
To keep you safe and comfortable during the detoxification process, a medically assisted detox provides you with a team of medical professionals who can provide the necessary medications to treat any potential withdrawal symptoms. Suddenly stopping chronic abuse of substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects.
Inpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
Sober Living Homes
Sober living homes in Tennessee, also called a halfway house, refers to a group residence for men or women who are recovering from addiction. These are usually privately owned homes or houses owned by a nonprofit or business. Most are located in quiet residential areas. Residents have their own rooms or share a room with one roommate, and they share common areas. Each resident pays rent and helps with household maintenance.
24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
Intensive Outpatient
Clients in intensive outpatient programs (IOP) receive robust, personalized care to support their reintegration into their community. Clients stepping down from inpatient treatment frequently enroll in IOP before entering standard outpatient care or community-based recovery programs, such as AA. Intensive outpatient treatment generally involves between nine and 20 therapeutic hours weekly, with the frequency and duration of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. IOP services commonly include counseling, recovery education, holistic therapies, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
12-Step
Persons in addiction recovery based on 12 step program models cultivate recovery-focused life skills emphasizing spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Participants receive intensive peer support in 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, open to the public, and available day and night in most communities. Self-selected sponsors guide sponsees through the recovery journey, cultivating self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, participants aren’t required to be religiously affiliated.
Aftercare Support
At Cornerstone of Recovery, they strongly believe that the treatment process is the beginning of a new life centered in recovery. It is not a “cure,” because the disease concept of addiction teaches them that it is a chronic and progressive illness that, left untreated, can be fatal. That’s why the recovery process that begins with one of their various programs doesn’t end after treatment. In fact, medical and addiction studies show that the first 18 months of recovery is an extremely critical time for those battling addiction. Cornerstone’s professional staff members develop a detailed aftercare plan for each patient while the patient is enrolled in one of the core treatment programs, so that once the discovery phase of the treatment process ends, the recovery process can continue uninterrupted.
Intervention Services
When needed, Cornerstone of Recovery provides Intervention Services to help a person make the sometimes difficult decision to choose treatment. And once in treatment, we provide compassionate encouragement when a patient, in the very difficult early stages of recovery, struggles.
Clinical Services
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.
Family Therapy
Many of their staff know firsthand how painful and challenging it can be for families to face addiction. It's a disease that can affect an entire family. One of the most important aspects of recovery is rebuilding those bonds and relationships. Cornerstone of Recovery will provide the patient with educational and support programs that will improve those relationships and help them and their family better understand the disease.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Life Skills
Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
Nutrition Therapy
Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
