About Emerge Counseling Ministries

If you’re in Akron, Ohio and looking for counseling that takes both your emotional health and your faith seriously, Emerge Ministries might be the right place to start. This isn’t your average counseling center, as they blend solid clinical techniques with Biblical teachings, helping you work through life’s challenges in a way that aligns with your values and your story.

Emerge makes the entire process very approachable. You don’t have to know exactly what you need. You just take a short assessment, get matched with the right counselor, and then begin your journey toward healing. It’s a really warm, no-pressure vibe, which can be a huge relief when you’re already feeling overwhelmed.

Help with Addiction and Beyond for All Ages

Life gets messy sometimes and Emerge gets that. Whether you’re feeling anxious or disconnected, struggling with substance abuse, or just kind of stuck, their team of licensed counselors, psychologists, and social workers are ready to walk with you. They work with adults, kids, couples, and even ministry leaders, because everyone deserves a place to heal.

It’s also great how Emerge Ministries integrates your personal history into the work they do. It’s not just about dealing with surface issues, it’s also about getting to the heart of how past experiences shape the way you see yourself and the world. The goal? To help you reframe those stories and begin to see yourself the way God does: worthy, whole and free.

A Counseling Approach That Feels Like Home

One of the best parts about Emerge Ministries is how personal they make it all feel. They meet you with compassion and walk alongside you with both clinical insight and spiritual care. It’s not just about managing symptoms, but it’s also about discovering how you were made to be.

They overcharged for visits way too expensive. Their suggestion that anger and trauma is to take a deep breath. And focus on my breathing five sessions did not help!

My children attend counseling here and I am very thankful for the help they have been given. My only complaint is a lady at the receptionist area. She is not warm and welcoming. I’m in the hospitality industry and we thrive on making our guests feel appreciated and valued. Your receptionist team needs to understand people are coming in here feeling scared, anxious, depressed and it’s important that they feel valued and cared for with a warm welcome. This is also a Christian establishment which means it should be a step above. Please consider training for your receptionist team on hospitality and empathy. Thank you.

Thank you for your honest feedback, DJ. We’re truly sorry that your visit didn’t reflect the compassion and warmth that everyone should experience at Emerge. We’re addressing this with our team and would appreciate the opportunity to connect directly with you so we can make this right. Please email Info@emerge.org and direct it to “Leadership”. Once again, our sincere apologies.

I am glad that I finally took the 1st step to go to therapy and talk about my issues. It's only taken me 40+ yrs to do it but Emerge Ministries has been eye opening. I also love that my clinician offers to pray and does at every visit. It's a blessing to have a Christian counseling center. NO judgments! I have a great talking relationship that is very open and honest on both ends. Plus my husband of 23 yrs has come a number of times too. I am grateful for Emerge and for all the staff. They are so nice. Give it a try, you won't regret it. 😉

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.
