I have been to several treatment facilities and this one is by far the best one i have been to. Not only is the facility clean and well kept, the faculty that works there have amazing hearts. This is the only treatment facility that i have been to where the staff actually genuinely care for you and your recovery/well being. They have a unique treatment plan that works. Unlike many places I have been to instead of boring you to death, they actually make recovery fun, which in my experience has a lot to do with being able to succeed in recovery. I have recommended multiple friends and family members to go here when they are struggling with addiction and will continue to recommend Steps to Recovery to anyone who asks how i got clean and remained clean. I owe my life and my recovery to these people and they will always have a special place in my heart. Just a little update, celebrating 10 years clean in a few months

I recently “graduated” from STR. I was in programming between May to September, originally PHP and then in the IOP mental health program. While in PHP I was in housing as well. There are family sessions offered too, but I did not utilize that service while at STR. While the house I was at was not perfect, administration tried their best to accommodate every concern clients had with the house. It was overall a clean and safe environment to live in. If there are any concerns advocate for yourself and ask a tech to call a house meeting if it is an interpersonal issue within the house. If you have a different issue communicate that to the director and it will most likely be handled promptly. The PHP (partial hospitalization program) for mental health is six days a week, 9am-1:30 Monday-Friday and 9am-12pm Saturdays. The program changes as needs change. When I first began there process groups were three hours long, but when I left they were two hours long with an additional hour of psych ed. While the day may seem long, everyone gets a break between noon and 12:30. Afternoon there are different types of therapy everyday like art therapy, DBT, CBT. IOP (intensive outpatient program) is only 9am-12pm three days a week, usually Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The director is accommodating though so if for any reason you need to not go on a Monday, you could always go on a Saturday if you advocate for yourself. You’ll have one individual session a week with one of the clinicians. I had Ashley and she is phenomenal. While the staff really do care about the clients, Ashley definitely cares about clients and it shows in her work. You’ll also have a session with either Dr. Newman or Monique once a week to go over medications they are both amazing! STR is shaped not just by the staff, but clientele too. I have reinforced and grew my support system while being at STR. And while I was in the mental health program, I have substance use disorder as well, I’d recommend Steps to recovery struggling with their mental health or substance use. It may take a couple of weeks to really settle into the program, but continue to do the work since you are worth it and advocate for yourself if something isn’t working for you. STR is also a great facility if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community. The staff here are not just accepting, but affirming. There is an optional LGBTQ+ group once a week with Christian, which was my favorite part of the week.

I just finished a 28 day stay here. This was the first place I finished out of 12 rehabs. It was a good experience from the ride in to the ride out. They set me up with a really nice PHP, and the doctor worked hard at getting me the sublocaid shot when my insurance was denying it. The facility is nice, comfortable beds, personal tv in each room. The staff is great! Always there to talk to when you need someone. Med lines go quick. The food is really good and they feed you enough for 3 people. Shout out to Steve, the cook. His food is really good. I had Elizabeth as a counselor and she was super sweet and actually took the time EVERY TIME she met with me. She never rushed me. Uncle Ron is also really kind and caring. The rest of the staff is very kind and caring as well. All the techs were really nice and caring, but There were a few techs who really went above and beyond for the clients- Katrina, Danielle, Morgan. Thank you clearbrook for giving me a shot at sobriety <3

The St. Joseph Institute in Port Matilda, Pennsylvania takes a holistic and spiritual approach to caring for those with addiction, mental health, and dual diagnosis conditions. Spiritual motivation is the centric philosophy of treatment for adults ages 18 to 65. They have residential programs for veterans and for those struggling with chronic pain.
So Blessed to have found St. Joseph’s! Saved my Life! As a mature 50 something grandma, I would never have believed that I would get so sucked into addiction that I could give up everything for one thing! But Nothing Shy of a Miracle would make me quit.God heard my plea for Help and St Joseph’s delivered! 3 weeks into my rehab I had a heart attack, I would probably be dead had I been outside of St Joseph’s using like I was, and after a quick procedure I was back to finish my rehab 48 hours later. My stay extended beyond 60 days, and sure there were days I felt trapped inside this village, but I needed precisely there to be rules, stability, structure. Quitting One thing for Every Thing would not be my New Reality had it not been for St. Joseph’s!

SJI is in an idyllic setting where the peaceful atmosphere integrates wellness, educational programming, and both individual and group therapy sessions lead by competent and compassionate staff. Homemade meals include a well stocked salad bar and fresh fruit. If Grace is cooking, you are in for a treat! The individual therapy was most beneficial to me. I was fortunate to be assigned to Emily B. (but all counselors are lovely and I benefited from the group sessions they provided on a rotation schedule). Guest speakers were profound, offering hope and keys to resilience. The peace, quiet, and support I received allowed me to unplug and really get to the crux of my personal issues in ways outpatient therapy didn't, and could never, touch. As a client, I took ownership of my progress, never "skipping" sessions, no excuses given, and took advantage of early morning sessions that were optional offered by Val during the week (She's a true gem, and I highly recommend taking advantage of the opportunities she offers). The RA's Joe, Dave and Bri were supportive and compassionate, and always available throughout the day and into the night, 24/7. My counselor, Emily, was firm, fair and consistent. She called me out when necessary and truly helped me get where I needed and wanted to be - Happy, Joyful, and Free. It was a pleasure to serve as community leader during my time at Saint Joseph's Institute (when I was ready). Happily sober now, involved in daily AA meetings both virtually and in-person in my local community, I refer others to SJI on the regular, and am pleased to do so here in this forum. Freedom from alcohol addiction is attainable if you work for it (other addictions, too), and I was given the tools I needed to live alcohol and hangover free for life, full of patience, forgiveness, tolerance of others, and love. Is everything perfect for me? No. But SJI gave me what I needed at a time when I was lost and desperate for change and hope. I got what I needed, and you can, too. I'm determined to make it despite the challenges I face personally today at work, at home, and in my relationships. Make the call. Give yourself this gift of sobriety, and do it at St. Joe's. One Day At A Time.

Walking through the doors of Silver Pines is life changing, for sure. Everyone is so understanding, informative and genuine. I feel safe coming to SP knowing that I don’t have to be ashamed of mental health or co-occurring disorders. The facility is broken up into different sections. There is a detox, men’s residential, women’s residential and a mental health section. As a resident at SP we all co exist under the same roof. It’s amazing how diverse everyone is. I love getting to know each other and allowing ourselves to open ourselves up in order to heal. I’ve seen a lot of us come in a mess and leave these doors with a plan on how to cope and heal. The facilitators come up with an after plan and it’s up to us as individuals to follow through with it. I have reached out to Jenn C., Chelsea and Randy in times of trouble and they have always had my back and always welcomed me with open arms. If you struggle to pay financially the finance department is willing to work with you when having to pay anything. We eat three times daily and you can substitutions if need be. We have a black out period of a week where we don’t really have the freedom of using our phones. This is the first facility that allows me to use my phone at certain times. They are lenient if you have school or work related things going on. If you need to make court, medical appointments or have an interview they can take you. The facility brings in H and I Na meetings and AA meetings. The food is good and there are plenty of snacks. There are nurses there 24/7. The bonds that I have made in this facility is unbreakable. I have so much love to SP. Thank you 🙏

Silver Pines is a highly effective behavioral health treatment facility. Intake is very smooth and efficient. They understand how difficult it can be to ask for help and are very accommodating through the entire process. They even offer intake and completion transport to and from the facility. Silver Pines provides clients with a top notch medical program, case management, individual therapy with a set therapist, highly detailed daily programming, family support, community support, an on-site gym, and the food and beverages provided are plenty. Personally Silver Pines brought me in swiftly yet treated me very attentively and thoroughly yielding great results for both my mental and physical health. Silver Pines also treats all of their alumni as part of the family and are always willing to assist those that journey with them throughout their stay and beyond.

Little Creek Lodge was my first and only rehabilitation facility, leaving me ill-prepared to compare it to any other practice. To preface, I am a young man in my twenties, I have a white collar career, and I'm gay. The idea of coming to an all male facility, trapped with other men for 30-days was a daunting prospect. At the end of my treatment, I've never felt so loved, supported, and valued. The staff have all been through recovery and their testimonials allowed me to trust them. I've been away from the facility for 4 months now, but am still in contact with those who helped me. You'll find no facility that cares for you more than Little Creek. They saved my life.

Today I helped a Vietnam era veteran. Remember as a veteran sometimes we struggle. When you see a service person in need of help, do what the Lord installed in your heart love of one another. The gentleman was in need. I would encourage anyone whether you're a veteran or not. Help the elderly. My suggestion would be to take an index card and put the person's first name only, last four if you're a veteran and POC. Place this in a plastic bag and safety pin it to the person in some form or fashion. This would eliminate hours of wasted time helping people to connect with loved ones. Let them know the Lord brought you to them out of love because he first loved us. One other advice if you're helping someone and you have to walk away give them something of yours to assure them you will return. A small act of kindness goes a long way. The Lord sees all and never forgets. Lose the attitude of someone not being your race. When you served you should NEVER see race. Remember that. You don't know who may be near you to save your life. We leave no one behind. Amen

Counselor Danielle is extremely competent and is the personification of integrity. Banyan's counselors are progressive, humane, and highly skilled. The psychiatric nurse ("Judy in the sky"), is exceptional. Kudos all the way around and "hats off" to BANYAN management for such superb personnel selections! My husband just completed over 60 days and is on his way to his outpatient phase. Any phone call I placed was answered or quickly returned. I don't know what I would've done without the daily remote family support meetings. They were spot-on with information about addiction and it's effects on family as well as the patient (I know from my own work experience). The open discussions and parallel family support was a lifeline for me. They have done everything they've said they were going to do, above and beyond my expectations!

Coming in without knowing what to expect, I can overwhelming say that Dreamlife set me up in the best way possible for recovery. 7 years this February I was at the facility and it was sensational. I loved the staff and the food. You have to want recovery and if you do this is the place. I took the treatment in stride and used it for what it is there for. You have to decide on your own to be clean and that mentality is all that you need! The facility was to help guide me and an escape for me to see my own acceptance. Thank you. To everyone become the 1 percent and never look back. Patrick Croft

I don't understand these bad reviews; I know some people are forced to be there, and are defiant(possibly coming off harder stuff), but some people left and decided to come back. There were fights but not physical. I wasn't there very long, quick voluntary detox from alcohol; I found the staff all to be very nice; kitchen staff helped me with my immense food allergies, and gave me great food that I wasn't expecting, it was so good, and I'm a chef who makes almost everything from scratch. The nurses were awesome... I can't speak for others, but some disgruntled people had reasonable criticisms, and when people are detoxing, maybe sometimes, their negative attitudes require more patience and compassion. I was happy to be helped. The only reason I didn't give 5 star is because maybe cuz I was appreciative for being helped; recovering people may need, like I said, more patience, and also, I "needed" a doctor's note to go back to work; after a week of calling multiple times, and never receiving as promised, my boss brought me back on a technicality. I also was 'referred" to outside resources; I haven't received any; I received a 3rd party call, but nothing has got done. Either way, from residents I talked to, this is the best facility around, many left, and told me it was due to their addiction, and then tried other places and chose to come back to this one. It is not bad to stay there, and they give you free cigarettes, which may be questionable, and I had quit smoking, but smoked a ton. They let detox do that, but residence has scheduled smoke breaks and way more rules and requirements. It took a few days but I'm down to barely smoking. I think free cigs is good, even though it's bad for you and addictive, it actually acts as group therapy, from my own experience, and if you're coming off something, nicotine my be addictive, but doesn't require detox, and just like with a variety of meds they use to treat detox/withdrawals, it is kind of a comfort med. Either way, I thought this place was great; they definitely rely on a lot of funding, some personal, and I only stayed 5 days, my financial assistance would have paid for 7 if the nurse thought it was dire, but they weren't gonna cover programs, and I felt detoxed.

Wow what a beautiful place. The staff the people, the program, the energy, the land, and the experience was in my opinion the best place my god could have put me. I went to Marworth for the first time after relapsing after about 5 years sober. When I went there I was a wildly unpleasant person to be around. I hated the world and myself. I was truly terrible to most of the staff. My behavior was argumentative, smug and mean at best. They still welcomed me back 3 more times. I was eventually given Amy as my primary counselor and, she not only took the time to try and understand why I was like that but, she also challenged me to be better. Over my time there I had the chance to get to know the staff very well. They're good people. Who genuinely want to help people get to the life they're meant to have. The specialists, rec team, cafeteria workers, house keeping, security(the list goes on and on)are wonderful. That's what makes Marworth great. It's not the amenities. It's not the rock climbing wall, gym, cafeteria, or anything else you can think of. It's the people that make this place what it is. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but nothing is. When I went in there looking for all the things that bothered me, I got nothing out of it. When I allowed them to help me, I got everything out of it.

When it comes to M.A.T. and Outpatient Therapy, there are 2 options in the Altoona/Duncansville Area. Having personally tried both facilities, (Discovery House & Dolminis Pyramid), I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Dolminis is by far the superior choice. Everything from the cleanliness of the facility, to the vibe of the counselors, to the warmth and caring attitude of the nurses is all levels above what you'll receive at Discovery House.

I am grateful to share that I attended Caron Grandview (FKA Caron Professionals Program) on the Wernersville Campus in May of 2018. I just celebrated 7 years of continuous sobriety. I could not have done it without the help of Caron. The entire continuum of care at Caron is first rate. From the medical detox to the excellent clinical treatment and to the support I received (and still receive) after leaving campus. Caron also treats the entire family, as this is a disease that affects more than the afflicted individual. Unlike many of its competitors, Caron is non-profit and is staffed by people who have chosen the eradication of this terrible disease as their life's work. If you are at your wit's end and are sick and tired of being sick and tired, look no further than Caron.

There's a reason Caron Treatment Center is often referred to as "magic mountain. Without hyperbole, Caron saved my life, full stop. I went there at a particularly fraught time in my life, a time when I didn't really have anywhere left to turn. When I was there, I never felt judged; I was treated with dignity and respect and given the tools, both spiritual and scientific, I needed to battle addiction. The clinical staff is second-to-none, with world-class doctors who are at the forefront of addiction treatment and understanding. My time in treatment there was the greatest gift I have ever given myself (or ever received, truly). For families, the education program Caron offers is a HUGE help, offering tools to help them better understand what addiction is and what it is not. For anyone suffering from addiction (no matter the source), you'll receive no better care than in the embrace of Caron.

Honestly a fun place, met tons of friends. I personally was in TMS (teen male sector) or some shit. But it was really fun and I liked the detox from everything. Funny story but I found Coke at Caron assuming it was one of the RA’s but they were very ontop of it and found it on me before I vacuumed all of it up. Later ended up hearing it got pinned on the wrong worker. Very sad but I loved my time there and will not be an experience to forget. I’d like to shout out John, Lorraine, Jake and Samir for helping me achieve abstinence from all drugs long term. Also shout out my counselor Jess which was very open and considerate. One thing I don’t like though is how if your a younger patient they will like you push an after care treatment on you. Being a kid this is scary as you have no control over it. At the time I had no idea what my parents were gonna choose and the counseling team is fast to convince them. Don’t fall for it though as it only helps Carons image of a successful rehab and Caron benefits from it. But that’s the only kicker and nail in the shoe I have for Caron.

I would like to thank counselors Sara, Vicki, and Megan for their help at Innovo. I also thank Natalie, Destiny, Beth, Melanie(3rd shift), Sarah Ashley, and a few others whose names escape me but the bald black guy on second shift that checked me in with nurse Dani. I have to admit. I wasn’t a fan when I first came in, but my 33 day stay was needed. I learned so much from the counselors mentioned and some of the other patients in there with me. I came out a different person than I did going in with good information I do not have a bad thing to say except, yes, they were understaffed but they tried their best with the 30 plus patients there . Rehab isn’t for everyone, but this was my first experience in a facility such as this and I’m glad I came. I also wanna thank the cooks for their help food. They did their best to accommodate. 91 days sober today. I also send a hello to all patients I encountered and talked to there. We had some laughs and good times while in treatment. Hope all is doing well
