Anyone that gave dats anything less than 5 stats did not take their recovery seriously and blames dats for their mistakes.

I came to TPALS 5 years ago as a broken human being with nothing left inside and nothing left to give. I was very defiant in the beginning of the treatment process because of my experiences in the past and was never comfortable enough to open up to anybody ever. I graduated within that 5 years but I just did the program to get everyone off my back I didn’t take in any of the suggestions given or was not willing to take a deeper look into my life so I got my certificate and left. Only to come back 2 years later still broken but this time no substance brought me back. Within coming back I’ve had a few lapses but I was SO COMFORTABLE to come back into this place and admit to that and I’ve built such solid worthy relationships here. This place gave me my life back. Gave my children their mother back and my family has their daughter back. If it was not for this place I would be dead. I love tpals because they meet you where you are at and work with you to understand the true ins and outs of this disease. I never thought I would be free from the chains of hell with drugs and alcohol and this place helped me free myself. I graduated again but I still come here everyday this place is my home and my safe place. Even if there isn’t any staff I sit in the parking lot if I need to regroup mentally. Thank you to each and every one of the staff and counselors ! Yall are the real super heroes because super heroes don’t always need to wear capes.

This post started as one star review and could have focused on the negative things that go on in a healthcare setting. Yes we had a very long wait tonight to be able to get in to get treatment for my wife who had the flu and was very dehydrated. Our wait was well over 4 hours in a very crowded and a very busy emergency room waiting. Area.
My first inclination was to use Google as a way to vent my frustration at how much it inconvenienced us to have to sit there for hours waiting to be called back to treatment.
Then I realized something, healthcare is not about structure It's not about promising certain wait times or wait times like a ride at an amusement park. Healthcare is a people business and it's the people that work in healthcare that make the difference in the lives of those people that need it most.
Granted our emergency rooms are loaded with people who use them as ready care facilities instead of what the true meaning of an ER is meant to be And yes that is something that should be addressed and fixed but that is a bigger problem than what belongs to a single hospital.
The folks at this facility treated everybody kindly and with respect. What I was most impressed by were the people in the actual treatment area. Once once we got back into the treatment area and were assigned a room My wife's care was immediate and above all compassionate and caring, it warmed my heart. One of the things that was most touching was how our nurse Sherrie treated my wife and me like we were her family. When my wife was sleeping and I fell asleep in the chair in the room she quietly walked in turned the lights off and closed the door so that we would not be disturbed and get some rest until they would get everything back that they needed to make a decision to admit her.
The er doctor was thorough and had amazing bedside manner. She was in the room within 10 minutes after we were assigned a room. In spite of having to cover multiple beds..she was pleasant, patient with us and listened to my wife's concerns and needs.
Every one on the staff at this ER are being pushed to the limit with the closure of a hospital in our area and the financial uncertainty of the only other ER in Scranton, leaving people no choices for care..
This staff tonight was compassionate caring and only put the needs of each patient forward one patient at a time. In a health care setting I don't think you can ask anything more.
So the next time that we want to be quick to criticize maybe we should look back and what health care really is. It's people taking care of people and helping them in a very tough time in their life. Kudos to the staff of the emergency room at geisinger's Scranton.
Granted they could use some work and figuring out proper triage levels in the waiting area for those that need it most do not have to wait hours. Even though it was a long night I would return to this ER again because they have not forgotten that it's the people that make a difference in the lives of others.

I am a previous alumni of the Avenues in Concord New Hampshire where I experienced long-term sobriety, multiple years after attendance. I am also a veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia; as well as I was a drug and alcohol counselor for veterans because Avenues gave me the tools needed for living a life of recovery, and instilled the importance of giving back.
After my last treatment, I took suggestions and was also a house manager in sober living and worked a 12 step program, sponsoring other men through the process. This past year, I experienced a relapse because I stopped working a program and took back my will. After several attempts of recovering on my own, I surrendered and called my best friend and patrol leader from my deployment, and I asked for help. He reached out to Avenues, and I was given a call late into the night by an admission coordinator. When I spoke to this man I was broken and afraid. He showed me empathy, asked the right questions, and told me he would do whatever he could to get me into treatment.
I was picked up by a team member from Avenues, Lake Ariel within 24 hours. The man who picked me up stopped so I could pick up needed items, and he checked on me throughout the whole ride.
Once at the facility, I was opened with open arms and felt humiliated, while they saw it as practicing humility and doing the next right thing. They were full of empathy and compassion, and I was immediately started on a detox protocol where the nurses and practitioner were knowledgeable with medication and met me where I was thinking; nothing was pushed or forced.
The majority of staff has a working knowledge of a twelve step program and are in recovery. No one was there just for a paycheck. My counselor and every staff member was attentive to my needs and were also able to help every client smile and feel human during such a difficult time. This facility also had veterans on staff who were willing to share directly with me in my process. They helped to save my life by sharing their experience, strength, and hope.
They do give out Big Books and help orient clients with the program through nightly commitments and their own personal experience, strength, and hope. I am grateful for my experience and the Avenues Program. I have been to multiple facilities, and in my opinion Avenues is second to none. I trust their program more than that of any Veterans Administration I have ever attended. I am excited to be transferring to the Avenues in Maryland to finish my process. This place will always have a special place in my heart, and I am internally grateful.

Probably everyone is a little resistant to stuff at first but this place truly transformed my life and got my head back on my shoulders. I’m still a work in progress but without this place to start I truly don’t even know if I would have made it. My head has been in a cloud for years and years and everything that occurred here was for the better. I even heard from transfers that came in for a few days how awful some of the other rehabs are out there. I’m excited to get my life started again but I know in my heart of hearts I never would have gotten this far without this treatment center. The outings they take you on, the therapy sessions, the different meetings you attend, everything they discuss here really does help someone build strength in their own mind. I mean, you have to apply yourself if you want to take anything out of it, but if you truly do, it will truly make a difference. They structure everything around you in a way where you have to work together instead of alone. So if anyone is unsure about getting started recovery … take a leap of faith and try it … you won’t be disappointed.

Not only was this my first-ever rehabilitation experience, but it was also the most eye-opening experience I have ever had. I was uncertain about what to expect and, ultimately, I made the best decision possible. The staff, whom I refer to as specialists, made me feel immediately at home, and my counselor, Mike, went above and beyond in his duties. The facility offers numerous perks, including exceptional cuisine, impeccable grounds, and a spectacular overall atmosphere. I must note that the nurses are exceedingly polite and attentive to their patients' needs, although I did find it somewhat disappointing that doctor visits were limited to only once. Personally, I did not experience any significant issues during my stay, aside from one supervisor who, I discovered, was not particularly friendly to either patients or staff. One of the highlights of the facility is the presence of Monarch butterflies, which are hatched on-site. Deb, one of the specialists, consistently displayed a warm and welcoming smile that brightened everyone's day. Marworth offers a wide range of activities to keep patients engaged, as well as tailored treatment plans for individuals requiring additional support. I commend the facility on its outstanding work.

I went to Marworth for the first time after relapsing after about 5 years sober. When I went there I was a wildly unpleasant person to be around. I hated the world and myself. I was truly terrible to most of the staff. My behavior was argumentative, smug and mean at best. They still welcomed me back 3 more times. I was eventually given Amy as my primary counselor and, she not only took the time to try and understand why I was like that but, she also challenged me to be better. Over my time there I had the chance to get to know the staff very well. They're good people. Who genuinely want to help people get to the life they're meant to have. The specialists, rec team, cafeteria workers, house keeping, security(the list goes on and on)are wonderful. That's what makes Marworth great. It's not the amenities. It's not the rock climbing wall, gym, cafeteria, or anything else you can think of. It's the people that make this place what it is. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but nothing is. When I went in there looking for all the things that bothered me, I got nothing out of it. When I allowed them to help me, I got everything out of it.

Serenity mountain changed my life! Between the caring house staff, knowledgeable clinical team and great activities, this is a great place to grow, learn and recover. While I was there, I was able to learn so much, about myself, my disease, and God. We had opportunities to go to off campus activities including drum aerobics, enerchi, yoga, church and even special things like concerts, ice cream runs, local NA/AA meetings and women’s retreats! The councilors genuinely care and want the best for each and every one of the girls on the mountain, and the house staff does everything they can to keep us safe, healthy, and happy throughout our time there. Sandy and Joe genuinely do their best to help each individual woman and truly care about recovery. The food is much better than most rehabs, and the rooms are large, clean and very comfortable. There is even two house dogs, Chloe and poppi, who make adjusting to the mountain much easier and provide great emotional support when needed! Overall, I highly recommend serenity mountain if addiction is something you struggle with, the road to recovery isn’t always easy, but the mountain is a great stopping point along the journey!

Scranton is the 290th most expensive city nationwide for addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $52329. This is lower than the average cost of $56708 for addiction treatment in Pennsylvania and lower than the national average cost for drug rehab of $57,193.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Scranton vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of medical detox, inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, and medication assisted treatment. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below. There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Scranton. Most rehab treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. However, there are many treatment centers in Scranton that accept Medicaid and Medicare, or offer sliding scale payments or other low-cost payment options. Here's the complete breakdown of how to pay for addiction treatment near Scranton.
Aetna is the most widely-accepted insurance for drug rehabs in Scranton, with 3 treatment centers in the city accepting their insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield is the 2nd most popular with 3 treatment centers accepting it followed by Cigna in 3rd accepted by 3 drug rehabs.
Scranton has the 51st highest rate of drug use nationwide among nearly 400 cities surveyed. This number reflects the combined use of cocaine, heroin, meth, and marijuana, displayed individually below. The percent shown for each drug represents the number of residents in Lackawanna county that have reported ever using the following drugs, so these numbers should not be interpreted as direct evidence of current drug use in Scranton or Lackawanna county as a whole.
In 2023, Scranton had the 130th highest number narcotics violations out of 330 cities nationwide, with a total of 561 reported drug-related incidents that year. This includes cases of public intoxication, drug arrests, narcotics found during house calls and traffic stops, and any other drug-related crime.
Keep in mind these numbers are dependent on accurate record keeping and reporting laws by local police and sheriffs, and may not fully reflect all drug related crime in Scranton. All values are per 100,000 population.
