This place truly was a life-changing experience. The house is run like a community of moms and children living together, and the staff treats you like family rather than just a patient. They are also incredibly helpful if you are working to regain custody of children in foster care. However, you should go in with a realistic mindset. You are living with a group of women from all different areas of the state, so there will be drama occasionally. My advice: stay focused on yourself and what you are there for, and you will be fine. I also feel it’s important to mention that while the program is amazing, there are some areas for improvement. I felt like some of the counselors and RSPs (Resident Support Professionals) could be better focused on their individual clients. Additionally, it can sometimes feel like you can’t voice an opinion or a concern about the staff without being lectured about it later in a group setting. Despite those frustrations, the core of this program is life-saving. If you stay focused on your recovery and your child, this place can give you a second chance at life. Jane 6 months ago My 4yr old daughter and myself lived in fountain springs for 6months and I truly believe that without the lady's who run the facility i would have lost my daughter to cys. I'm 7yrs clean today and I still feel like fountain springs saved us. while we lived there my daughter had surgery to remove her tonsils and adnoids at potsville hospital and I was allowed to stay there with her and had special accommodations for a few days after. Alea Rudy 11 months ago My overall experience with Gaundenzia Fountian Springs was good, the Program help me obtain and maintain sobriety while learning about addiction and taking parenting workshops. This women's or Mommy&me program also helped me regain full custody of my 2 children because I worked the Program by putting my all into it, they put their all into helping me fight for my children back. I loved most of the counselors most of the time LOL. But it was a life changing experience that help me take control back of my life to create a better future for myself and my kids. There is also a women's and mommy&me soberliving housing program connected in the back called Gaundenzia New Destiny which bridges the gap after one completes the rehab. I came in as dual diagnosis but I did not need detox (thankfully). I had never been in an addiction treatment center before, and White Deer Run was definitely an experience. I do believe I stayed the full 28 days. It's been so long I'm having a hard time remembering my actual treatment year. I would love to say I went to White deer Run and I stayed in recovery since. This was not the case however, I did go back out 😢. I learned a lot while I was there though, I learned that I could Not 🚫 escape the facility 😂. This might Not 🚫 make sense to some people reading this. This facility is almost impossible to leave once you have started the program for many reasons. I did not try to escape, but I watched many try. They returned very frustrated and tired as they walked back up the steep hill from the town below. The whole reason I really wanted to do a thank you or a shout out to WDR is because during my treatment I attended a meditation workshop. It was my first encounter with a monk. I sat down crossed my legs and then quickly prayed for the session to be over with. I was unhealthy and my legs had fallen deeply asleep, pins and needles 👀. I am grateful for THAT moment, I began My ✋🏻 journey learning patience. I was at a very low point in my life, not wanting to be alive anymore. Embark was a very nice place. 99% of the staff were very kind and caring. The facility was very nice, and the food was pretty good. I didn't like being there, but looking back it wasn't too bad. I was transferred to a long term facility after 2 months at Embark. That is where I entered the world of The Troubled Teen Industry in Utah. I was not placed at one of the embark facilities there, rather an ROP program. But, it's important to know every single facility in Utah is BAD. Embark at the Poconos or one of their other locations far away from Utah is the exception. Embark at the Poconos was like a vacation compared to the other places I was sent. While I don't think you should send your child ANYWHERE unless absolutely necessary, it should be here if needed. I have heard bad things from friends who went to the embark locations in Utah. But, this one was pretty good. That being said, I thank embark at the Poconos for always treating me with compassion. Almost 3 years later, I am accepted to college for nursing and on track to graduate.
