I entered the program during a difficult period in my life, and I am leaving with a much better understanding of myself, my trauma, and the tools I can use to manage the symptoms and challenges that come with it. One of the most valuable parts of the program was learning practical coping skills that I can actually use in everyday life. The program helped me better recognize my triggers, understand how trauma affects my thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships, and develop healthier ways to respond when I feel overwhelmed. I learned grounding techniques, emotional regulation skills, mindfulness strategies, ways to challenge negative thought patterns, and methods for managing anxiety and distress before they become unmanageable. I also gained a better understanding of the importance of identifying what is happening internally rather than simply reacting to it. The program gave me tools to slow things down, recognize when I am becoming activated, and make more intentional decisions about how I respond. Those skills have helped me feel more in control and have given me a stronger sense that recovery from trauma is something I can actively work toward. The group setting was also very beneficial. Hearing the experiences and perspectives of others helped remind me that many of the reactions associated with trauma are understandable responses to difficult experiences. Being able to participate in a structured and supportive environment made it easier to discuss difficult subjects and learn from both the clinicians and the other participants. Because the program is rotating, it resets every three weeks(2026). I came in to the program in the 3rd week of the cycle and did not feel like I was left out or could not grasp the information. I especially appreciated that the program was focused not only on discussing problems, but also on giving us concrete tools and strategies to take with us after discharge. I feel that I now have a much larger toolbox to rely on when I experience anxiety, intrusive thoughts, strong emotions, or other trauma-related symptoms. I also have a better understanding of the importance of continuing treatment and practicing these skills consistently rather than expecting everything to change immediately. The staff at Branches played an important role in making the program successful for me( Thank you Nia and Joanne!) I felt that the treatment environment was supportive, respectful, and focused on helping patients make meaningful progress. The education, discussions, and skills provided throughout the program gave me information that I expect to continue using well beyond my time in partial hospitalization. Overall, I consider my experience at Branches to have been successful. I came into the program needing additional support and better ways to manage the effects of trauma, and I am leaving with greater insight, improved coping strategies, and more confidence in my ability to manage difficult moments. I know that my work does not end with the completion of the program, but I feel much better prepared to continue that work because of what I learned here. I am grateful to the staff and clinicians at Branches and Pembroke Hospital for the support, education, and tools they provided. This program made a meaningful difference for me, and I would recommend it to others who are struggling and are willing to actively participate in their treatment and recovery. I was told I’d be lucky to make it back to this place… meaning that I’d be dead and not be able to make it back. I was told I would be dead cause of how “horrible and defiant” I was. I did not like AA was not for me so I was going to die. Many people that worked here told me. My case worker gossiped about me to a whole group of my peers saying “one of you is going down a dark road” really? These are the people to trust? These are the people “getting me better.” Also they said the bill would not need to be paid and I kept getting harassed by AP office I believe in Florida? So I was furious. So my initial review was one star and I left out words because I wrote a nasty review and had to erase them. I wanted to come back and edit my one star review to a five star. Cause here I am, over 5 years later, still going strong as ever in my recovery, and I have a place that is mine, I have a good steady job, and I’m free of the chains of addiction. Whether I like it or not, my experience here is what lead me to where I am today. There was some amazing staff that was overworked and under paid so if by some grace of god they are still there, god bless. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say they were trying reverse psychology on me, the staff talking crap about me to other peers, the staff saying I’d be dead. But they were not that smart, they genuinely were telling me I was hopeless. I won’t name you but I know that you know who you are. Now I sit here over 5 years later thinking that maybe if you did not spend so much time talking down and being hateful and judgmental to me, maybe all my brothers in program with me that are dead now, would still be alive if you paid them that energy. But it is what it is right? I don’t equate my success to NEATC, hell no. I put my success on my shoulders. I easily could have taken yall saying I’d be dead soon and actually gone and died. But I didn’t. I spit in all your faces and I proved all of you wrong. I did it for me. I did it for my brothers who died due to the lack of care they received wether insurance was poor or you just focused more on me being defiant than their complacent obedience to your AA. What works for some does not work for all. It’s your hate that drove the fight in me to succeed. I see my brothers in the program with me that never will get to share their smiles with the world, I can share the smile they taught me. I can share their message and I will not let them down. That’s why I have 5 stars. This place did exactly what it needed to. Just like life, drove me insane, judged me, hate on me, gave me a place to live full of rats and mice, financial issues to battle, had to face death, had to hear pain like no other, and was not the smoothest ride. But through the pain and darkness of life there is always light, you can be that light. You can change. Amidst all the bad, there was a handful of AMAZING staff and people that gave me a real life experience I will never ever ever forget. Just like life this place is not perfect, we need to take the challenges and push on. I loved this place. And always will. This place did heal me. Not how I wanted but how I needed. Just like real life. I noticed my growth as I wanted to change my one star review. Even after all the trouble, I pushed through and fought and still see the light. I am still a light that will not be dimmed. And this place is a HUGE part of the reason I am who I am today. An amazing light in a dark dark world. This place put a challenge in front of me, life is not easy, you need to put in the work, and when life punches, you need to punch back harder. Thank you NEATC and the amazing staff I can’t imagine would still be working here but if you are I love you. Forever I love you, and miss you, and wish you the best. The clinicians and group facilitators are knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to meet people where they are. Ritchie Evans, Eddie Payne, Henry, and Mattie are all great. The person I have connected with most is Ritchie. He is a solid dude with a great deal of lived experience, and he always offers something thoughtful and insightful. We share common bonds through addiction and combat service, so he understands parts of my experience that can be difficult to explain to someone who has not lived them. One thing Ritchie said will forever change how I see recovery. Detox nursing were awesome. They always explained what medication was what and how it could/would affect me. Residential was as a great experience for me. Most techs actually have been through the program/recovery so they actually understand and care about you. The nursing up here was great as well. The nurse Linda loves all her clients like her own. The alumni coordinators are truly inspiring. Math was super helpful in my personal recovery! He runs great groups and won’t coddle you but offer tough love support and recommendations. Knowing he’s been through this for a lot of his life really made his stories speak out. I want to shout out Luna, Kourtney, Alisha, Christine, Crystal, Casey, Marcia, Josh, Jerry, and Ms. Dee for all the love and support as well as Cheryl, Lawrence, and Mirable my care team. We find the staff to be supportive and attentive and are grateful to have them as providers. Jessi Naff 5 years ago The nurses are Top Knots and unusually helpful and resourceful. The counselors that exist are all fair and kind, but constant short staffing and management issues cause a great place to only get a good rating. This is a for-profit clinic, so the higher up the management chain one goes, the further away an addict in recovery is from recovery. Unfortunately this company owns most of the clinics in the area, so one does not have a choice. This is also not unusual. There is no handicapped accessible entrance. You can go in the back way, around the back of the hospital, but you still have to walk a very good distance to the front door, and once inside it's very small so a person with mobility issues is going to struggle. I don't suggest anyone with mobility issues goes to this Clinic. He Corrections Officers in the back of the hospital, they have an entrance for the prisoners there. There is constant clashing with the handicapped clients and the Corrections Officers because there's no real protocol for handicapped patients. But overall this is a good place. Small, and they don't put up with any of the usual nonsense that goes on.( There are very few drug deals if at all that will go on here!). The security guard is top-notch as well and is very fair but firm. If you are not looking for Recovery, I suggest you go somewhere else because you won't last long here. I've had some personal issues with the take-home protocol as well as the short staffing resulting in treatment plans not being effectively instituted, but again this is management and has nothing to do with the day to day staff. The staff bend over backwards to help you with whatever needs you have and the protocol keeps you comfortable so you are not crawling out of your skin the whole time.
