Updated 2024 - Still grateful for ARS. The nursing & front window staff is incredible. 🖤 THEY are who holds this place together & keeps it running smoothly. But since my original review, owners have taken on even MORE patients. I have gotten to a place where I only go 2 xs a month. So doesn't affect me as much as it will newer patients. But still wanted to make a note of it.
I have to start out saying ARS is what you make of it. I have been on this program for many years (that is MY journey, maybe not yours) but i have YET to have ANY issues with staff abusing power. A legit 10 + years and not ONCE has anyone abused their power w me.
👉*IF YOU*
• Come and do what you are SUPPOSED to.
• LEAVE when u are done.
• Stop using (u have time to adjust.)
• Give clean drug tests.
• Dont cause chaos & drama.
•Treat everyone how YOU like to be treated.
👉You should NOT have any problems.
👉*But...If you*
•Befriend all the slackers w no jobs doing nothing w their lives still.
• Chill in parking lot for an hour (or until kicked out by security.).
• Make BFFs w other patients that are STILL living dirty.
• Find yerself a boyfriend or girlfriend that is still using OR new in recovery also.
👉 Basically if you treat this place A SOCIAL EVENT/ dating app - Yes, you WILL have issues & time there WILL suck.
I do agree w/ one of the posters before me...it WAS better in Sommers Point. When we moved locations they took on WAY too many patients. When I started there was a little over 200, now there is 3 TIMES PLUS that. Staff doesnt have the time they need & have WAY too much on their caseloads. Granted, Dr.Roth is a SUPERHERO. He will gonabove and beyond for you if he knows you are doing the right thing.
But for a PRIVATE (aka for profit) facility, I DO expect to get what I NEED out of it. At OVER $100 a week per patient + payouts for things we accomplish (i.e. groups, sessions, ect) it would be nice to have the community feel we once had here. It was SUCH a great place when the staff wasnt overloaded. And I mean GREAT. I understand this IS FOR PROFIT clinic but it's started to get that "state funded" feel. 😞 I mean, obvi this IS a BUSINESS, but still. There has to be a line drawn somewhere. I have moved many times for work in life so have been to 5 diff clinics. State funded AND private. I picked this place BACAUSE it was privately owned.
It's STILL a great place, and i am grateful for it. Don't get me wrong... but if u knew how much better it was run BEFORE the move -
you'd understand.
Again-Stay away from the slackers & drama queens/kings. Do what you are supposed to do. Give clean drug tests, Go to at least 1 group OR see yr councelor for alternate ways if u have a career/work days. GET A JOB or go to school & make something of yourself. Nothing will change if YOU don't.
💕JUST KEEP ALL THIS IN MIND.
IT IS 80% WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT AT ARS

I wish I could have dealt with some of my prior traumas. But I am extremely uncomfortable with what I see. Example is what I saw happen to another client. Although this person is not using a clear power trip of you will do exactly what we say or else. And that power trip was exacted on that client in a very destructive way affecting multiple other clients and a very young person related to that client. These power trips use the justice system of other powerful organizations as en edge over someone. This was uncalled for and uneccessry and not really brought on by that client. It's disgusting and sits in the pit of my stomach. None the les. There are some good folks that are there. I have been clean but certainly not due to Fredom House. I wish to say and bring out more but I certainly do not want to become a victim of wrath for doing so. All I can say if you want to get sober you can if you really are ready. Fredom House I O P or not. And don't go there to make new friends and connections. Good luck stay sober, your worth it!

If you're nervous about taking the next step in your recovery as I was never have been to a PHP before. She makes sure that it's a smooth transition. Honestly the only way you could think Haley or the rest of the staff isn't doing enough for you is if you're so lazy and aren't really serious about your recovery that you just expect everyone to do everything for you. I. That case you may need a higher level of care. Because I've never been so excited and felt like I had the help I need in my recovery as I do in sober solutions and working with Haley. I was brought to this facility under some pretty extreme circumstances and a mental break due to large amounts of illicit drug use after walking myself into a local hospital for help. I was quickly marked as a ‘crazy’ person and taken into some pretty serious confinement and restrictions. The Intake and assessment and nurses and doctors involved there upon arrival were extremely comforting but this facility is strictly for individuals with serious mental disorders and not substance abuse disorders—that may just be temporarily showing signs of mental disorders from the drugs. Please note, some mental health disorders can very well be an underlying cause to drug use or repetitive relapse cycles, and you can also honestly very easily show signs and symptoms of some very scary and serious other ones while under the influence of these substances or weaning off. But again, in my circumstance, it was all totally drug related and drug induced. My point, you cannot accurately treat or diagnose someone who is on drugs, has drugs in their system, coming off drugs or withdrawing, etc — it’s not them. Of course they’re depressed, wanting to die, anxious, scared, hearing things, the list can continue. Get them 90 day clean and sober, and then assess them. I guarantee you they are a totally different individual showing little to no signs of anything possibly shown before expect some depression and anxiety I’m sure still lingering. Then treat! Than make a plan! Then prescribe if appropriate. This is a very important step we need to take to properly treat each person the right way instead of just immediately handing out and prescribing SSRIs, mood stabilizers, psych meds, etc etc etc! It’s just not right and needs to be fixed. Most people here were nice, higher ups mostly. The techs and nurses on units were easily frustrated constantly and really didn’t want to help you or do anything for the group. The place served its purpose tho. Got me clean, grounded, and back to reality. For that, I am thankful.

I was in the hospital twice back-and-forth for two days in the ER last week . The first day wasn’t so bad but my second day experience was horrible. There is people specifically employees that are going into patient’s purses, and stealing from them. I was in the ER last Wednesday and my experience has probably been the worst experience I’ve ever experienced being at a hospital. I’ve been at overlook hospital for years now and never had an experience like this. I’ve had my ID my insurance my credit cards and debit card stolen from someone at this hospital and I believe it is an employee more than one to be exact. I no longer want to go to a hospital where there’s no cameras in my room that’s very uncomfortable because if somebody can safely go into your bag and steal your personal items that means they are most likely doing it because there’s no cameras and there’s nobody watching them. It sounds like an inside It sounds like an inside job and the only way someone is confident in doing that is someone who works for the hospital.I have filed a police report, and I asked the security to look in the cameras to figure out what exactly happened. It’s been a week now and I’ve yet to find or get an answer so that tells me everything I need to know within this hospital. I will definitely be taking this to corporate.
