The staff here down to the cleaning and cook. It's a place that will definitely help you recover. This place makes a person wanna get sober and stay sober. I mean I never seen a place where they show you the concern they do. Such polite and respectful staff. They actually really care about people and people getting clean. I promise you there is no rehabilitation center in New York State such as this. I recommend this place for any addiction to drugs., for you to recover. I recently completed my stay there for the 3rd time,and am working a successful program,which FOR ME,is AA. This stay is simply a set of starting blocks to get you ready to face life on life's terms. Nobody should be expecting a "cure" when they leave. They should have somewhat of an understanding of what needs to be done to achieve their goals. The TA's like Steve,Chris,Rob,Corey,Glen,and everyone else on the staff have always been available for any kind of help. My experience at Phoenix House was extremely helpful for me and overall was a positive experience. It is very easy to get distracted and focus on the downsides of the facility however I was taught (there) about changing my perspective and that made it easy for me to have acceptance and continue focusing on myself. I have been to many treatment centers in the past and have never had a counselor that cared or helped me as much as Michael Robinson did. The facility director Dave S. is great at what he does and from what I witnessed handled any/all issues fairly and promptly. Dave also ran groups which I found to be extremely informative and helpful. Special thanks to the chef Arthur who was extremely accommodating to my unique diet. An even bigger thank you to RSS Rob who in my opinion helped me just as much as Mike and Dave did. I can't speak for how it is today but if it weren't for them I wouldn't be where I am today. If you don't want help you aren't going to be open to it so you can't fault the facility. I didn't stay clean after, but I didn't want to. They had a zero tolerance for drugs so the sober houses were actually clean and if someone used they'd be kicked out. The classes were long but not terrible. Ellen was great. I had major shoulder and knee surgery here 8 months apart. Recently I thought I had pulmonary embolism from the knee surgery and everything was swiftly handled. The staff is all extremely nice and doesn’t leave you sitting there for hours in the Emergency Room. Far from lipstick on a pig since NYU langone took over. The lab processed my results within 20 minutes instead of hours and I saw the results minutes before the doctors came to discuss them. A lot of these reviews show patients don’t know how a hospital works. These staff never seem overwhelmed.
