About the Facility

Outback Serenity Center is a Christ centered residential treatment for men who are struggling with chemical dependency. Their core curriculum is the 12-Step model. Outback Serenity Center is located at Hazlehurst, Georgia.

Outback Serenity Center believes in healing the whole person. Chemical dependency is a symptom of some deeper issues that need to be addressed. They believe that chemical dependency is also related with the biological, spiritual, sociological and psychological sides of the individual.

All residents in the program are required to attend and to work the 12-Steps and use the Life Recovery Workbook and Bible, because this is their core curriculum. All the other literature is secondary and supportive.

Their main goal is to provide a clean and safe environment where men can recovery and learn a new idea and design for living based on the principles of God’s Word.

Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a pattern of alcohol use that involves continued drinking even when it causes problems. Alcoholism is also characterized by a physical dependence on alcohol, which causes the body to experience withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is not present. Due to this physical dependence, medically-supervised detox is often necessary to safely recover from alcoholism. Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues.
