About StraightWay Training Center

StraightWay Training Center in Hungerford, Texas, was a residential program for drug and alcohol addiction treatment located just 35 miles southwest of the Houston metropolitan area. They’re closed now but they were a Christian based drug and alcohol rehab program that was founded in 1975 and operated for over three decades to treat whole families, single parents, unwed mothers, and single adults.

Christ Centered Care

Their primary goal was to teach you ways of dealing with daily challenges by using the Living Word of God as your foundation. They offered education and training that supported Biblically based leadership in the home and church and Vocational employment for people who had a life controlled by drug and alcohol addiction.

To be evaluated for the program you had to submit psychiatric records and other treatment reports, undergo a physical examination, and interview. The program was designed to develop a strong base in Christianity and a personal relationship with Jesus. You took individual classes over a three-month period and advanced classes for the following 6 months.

Strict House Rules Limited Outside Contact

Finally, you took leadership courses to support your sustainable recovery and ability to take a leadership role in your home or church. The program used discipleship training and included work in guidance counseling, prison, jail, and street outreach, and community services. They were locally supported and dependent on student sponsorship, but we’re not State licensed nor did they receive federal and state aid.

Fairly strict house rules focused on developing speech and conduct that honored Christ and the program lasted approximately 15 months, with 24/7 supervision. You were allowed visitors after the first two weeks and only after approval.

No incoming phone calls were allowed and outgoing calls could be made, not to exceed two calls each week. The house rules also included bathing and grooming rules, cleaning the facility, abstinence, and censoring incoming and outgoing mail.

This place is a cult!!!! Don't go! It is now under Covenantlife Restoration Church or Restoration City. They keep changing it. I wonder why.. My family was there for 15 years. If anyone would like more info you can go to my YouTube channel Cults and Overcoming where I interview people that have left this place.

The only way evil wins is if you're deceived... Anyone still at the center is deceived.... Why did you whip my child because she cried in nursery? Why did a man we didn't know at the time.... WHIP MY CHILD? WITHOUT MY PERMISSION? WHY DID YOU MAKE MY MOMMA FEEL LESS THAN WELCOME WHEN SHE'D COME? WHY DID YOU CHASE ME DOWN AND THROW CURSES UPON MY CHILDREN AND UNBORN CHILDREN? WHY DID YOU MAKE IT SEEM I WAS SOME ABHORRENT PERSON ? WE THE ONES YOU USED ARE COMING... FOR JUSTICE AND HEALING

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Corruption, greed, narcissism, elitism with a big dose of covenant theology to keep the flock from daring to say the emperor has no clothes. More problems and issues than there are roaches in Texas. Wasted years here! Worst mistake of my life.

I came to StraightWay in 1988. I had ruined my life and nearly died because of addiction. After a lengthy hospital stay, my pastor referred me to StraightWay. Even though I had lost all hope of ever being anything but a junkie, I got what I desperately needed most: a second chance - and people who were willing to invest their time, and even their very lives to show me what it means to follow Jesus Christ and to live my life for Him. To date, I am going on 30 years of being not only drug free, but being a happy and productive member of the community where I live. My husband and I have three beautiful children and have been married for 22 years this year. My relationship to my adult children and my family has been restored, something I had once thought impossible. I'm so grateful that StraightWay was here when I was in need. I cannot imagine where I would be today if not for this place.

Came to the center 38 years ago with a life of no purpose and living a drug and immoral life The staff there taught me a new way of living following the Word of God. I praise God for all the staff who dedicate their lives to help people such as myself.

These people are crazy. This is a cult! This CULT will ruin your life, your spouse's life, your children's lives, your entire family will suffer. This place is not your family. These people only want to control you, your money, and indoctrinate children to fear the "Outside". They separate families and can turn mothers against their children. Run
