Loved my time at Fullbrook. I’m beyond blessed that I was able to have a chance to understand and process my addiction and trauma through this program. Amazing staff that can relate and be so personable and open about their experiences makes it so raw, real and relatable. I made some of my best friends and unbreakable connections there. Fullbrook center was life changing for me. I didn't realize at the time what a difference it would make in my life. But since my return home in January, I have 4 months of sobriety under my belt and no desire to ever drink again. Every relationship in my life has changed for the better! First and foremost, the kitchen is the star of the show here. You come for a life change, but you really stay for the food and for the kitchen manager, Andrea, who I call Ms. Drea. It’s amazing to see how much influence she has over the community and how positive she is every single day. No matter what, she sees the good in everyone. There is nothing you can say that will shake her kindness or her belief in people. She truly has a place in heaven. The operations manager, Tara, is extremely involved. She is kind, but firm when she needs to be, which makes her a great leader. She has an open door policy, and if you ever have an issue, you can walk straight into her office and she will take it seriously, no matter how small it may seem. She actually does something about it. She keeps the place well stocked. There is never a shortage of snacks, and she even asks clients what they want and makes sure it’s there. She is always busy, but she will stop what she’s doing to give you her full attention. That speaks volumes. Haley, one of the main counselors, runs extremely structured and organized groups. She makes sure every single person has the opportunity to share and that everyone is heard. She listens carefully and responds thoughtfully, whether someone is on topic or not. Her groups feel safe, comfortable, and respectful. You genuinely learn things about yourself that you never expected to learn. She creates an environment where people can actually open up. Shad and Jordan are also excellent counselors. Jordan is very intelligent and clearly cares deeply about the clients. He openly expresses that he cares, and you can feel that sincerity. Shad brings a tremendous amount of experience, and if you ever want to dive deep into a topic and really understand it, he’s the person to talk to. Vance is a really cool guy who gets along with everyone. He speaks to you like a human being and treats you with respect. He participates, engages, and genuinely seems to love what he does. He helps make the environment feel welcoming and real. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the breakfast. While they do provide cereal and options in the morning, it’s not always a well balanced breakfast, and it would be nice to have more consistent protein options. Something simple like microwavable breakfast sandwiches would make a big difference. Other than that, this place is incredible. The staff is kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping people rebuild their lives. They provide real resources, including help with housing and funding, and they don’t just send you back out into the world without support. They help guide you forward. If you are serious about changing your life, Serenity House can absolutely give you a new mindset and the tools you need to move forward. Highly recommended

My experience with the Kerrville VA hospital and its staff is very encouraging and excellent. I am fortunate to have experience health care with a ppo insurance care and my care at Kerrville VA, surpasses the long scheduling and in and out visit with private medical care. I have been assigned to the gold team with my primary Dr. Llanos who is diligent in taking his time in his examination, listening and making suggestions to the different treatments regarding my disabilities. My pharmacist Dr. Rodgers has been responsible for correcting and adjusting my medication and suggesting correcting eating habits to my lifestyle. For years I had previously been treated by diabetic clinic in San Antonio where my AC1 was averaging between 8 and as high as 12. My Agent Orange disabilities to include my diabetes is as good as it will get for now with my AC 1 averaging 7.5 to 7.8. I did experience some very disappointing experiences with San Antonio VA and private medical care. The Pharmacy employees onsite Kerrville our second to none in the private sector. VA care should be the type of care that is deserving for all who served our Nation especially during wartime. Much gratitude to all the staff and caretakers for their caring and service to our Veterans with the upmost respect and care.

La Hacienda truly changed my life. I’ve been to treatment centers all over the state of Texas, and La Hacienda was the last treatment center I ever had to go to. The 28 days I spent there helped save my life and gave me the foundation I needed for long term recovery. The staff genuinely care and are always available to help, encourage, and support clients through every stage of the process. The program is strongly rooted in a 12 step approach, which was exactly what I needed, while also offering specialized programming to meet different individual needs. The campus is beautiful, peaceful, and very clean, creating an environment where healing feels possible. The medical staff were also incredible and made me feel safe and cared for throughout my stay. I will always be grateful for the experience I had at La Hacienda and for the role they played in helping me rebuild my life.

Our family’s experience with LaHa left a lasting impression on me. My son first went there at a time when he wasn’t ready to embrace recovery and after that, he spent time at many other treatment centers. When he finally reached the point where he was ready to get better La Hacienda was the place he wanted to go. That spoke volumes to me. Out of everywhere he had been, La Hacienda was the place where he felt the most comfortable and cared for. It was a place that made him believe that recovery was possible. As a mother, I understood very little about addiction so I attended 4 different family programs at his various treatment centers and the one at LaHa was by far the best. When my son returned to LaHa he specifically asked his dad to attend the family session. It was here that he finally understood addiction as a disease and was given the perspective he needed to not only support our son’s recovery but his own through attending our local Alanon. We highly recommend La Hacienda.

I can’t say enough good things about Windmill Wellness Ranch. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. This place is amazing. The complaints in the reviews worried me. But the moment I arrived I was treated with the upmost care. Only weak people leave a treatment facility like this. This place saved my life and I was treated with dignity and respect throughout. I have my life back and that is what I went there for. Anybody you read on here that has anything bad to say is soft. This place can fix anyone WILLING to be vulnerable. Some adults never got told they couldn't be unicorns when they grew up and it shows.

85 days sober and still going strong. Every single person at Starlite played a role in saving my life. From the tireless kitchen staff to the nurses, therapists, and instructors, I was met with genuine care, compassion, and professionalism at every turn. What touched me most was the community of people in recovery. They became my family when I needed one the most—lifting me up on hard days, motivating me when I doubted myself, and reminding me I was never alone. Thank you to the entire Retreat program staff. Nova is far from perfect, and some of the information can be misleading. But if you want to dive deep into the 12 Steps while enjoying good food and a beautiful scenic view, this is the place for you. The staff is great — the RAs and techs are friendly and genuinely care. The woman who runs it, however, can be unreasonable and enforces some silly rules (like not being allowed to save your food for later — insanity), but fortunately, she’s not around much. Jeff and Korn are the ones who really run the show. They have a ton of recovery experience and are both awesome guys who truly care. Jeff changed my life and helped save my marriage, so the place gets five stars from me for that reason alone. Thank you to Jeff, Korn, Cassandra, Jen, Leon Phelps, Aaron, and the rest of the staff!

I was just discharged from The Right Step, Wimberley, TX, yesterday. This place and all of their AMAZING staff, including RAs, Counselor, Doctors, Nurses, Kitchen staff SAVED MY LIFE! After years of addiction I feel stronger and more equipped to face this disease head on. There are only minor things I would change: I think the women should have a large covered smoking area like the men do. The two small covered areas would get soaked in the rain and we were still required to smoke there. We would have to stand there to have a cigarette because chairs were soaked. It was cold, wet and uncomfortable. I think the women deserve an equivalent to the men, who have a large roof covered patio. It's only fair. Otherwise, not much to complain about. Some staff were better, kinder than others, but I won't name drop here. Overall, I would definitely choose them over again. Going to Right Step was the best decision of my life and I am grateful beyond words!

I wish I could adequately express my gratitude and admiration for Driftwood Recovery. This place and the staff members and alumni who offered expert support to our young adult son and to our family are sacred to me. As a mental health professional myself, I knew that the key to my son’s healing would require a level of trauma-informed inpatient care that is very difficult to find, especially in the state of Texas. Our son had so many complex issues and the staff offered tremendous empathy while also requiring his accountability. My son found joy, connection, friendship, and a new way of living during his time at Driftwood and then at Riverside. This recovery community is truly outstanding and I could never thank their leadership team enough for welcoming our Tim and opening the doors to a life of meaning and purpose.

My son was at this facility. At first I had a few little issues with some of the staff but learned my son was the issue not the staff. The 2 staff members I dealt with the most were Crystal and Austin and I have the upmost respect for them they both had went above and beyond to try to help my son with his issues and he ended up needing to go to a more strict facility and Austin and Crystal went above and beyond to find a facility that could help him better and Crystal went above and beyond and took time out of her busy day to take him to that facility so I didn’t have to drive for 2 days to get there to take him. I am forever grateful for everything Austin and Crystal have done to get my son the help he needs.

I came here barely alive, hopelessly alcoholic after years of heavy daily drinking. Going on 15 months sober. I wouldnt be here if it wasn't for them. I thought I'd need a 30-day program after, but i felt so much better by day 5 that I resolved to not drink again, and still havent. They have the drug cocktail down to a science, I barely felt any serious withdrawls. The nurses are very attentive albeit DMV-ish at times, which is a good thing in that context. The staff is very kind and caring, experienced and understanding. No nurse ratchet here. You will be frustrated by some of their institutional policies, but they do a good job explaining why those policies are in place without being overbearing or condescending. The reasons I gave it 4 stars, not 5. This is not an indictment but constructive criticism, and a warning about what to expect if these issues matter to you: The food seems to be mostly cooked off site and reheated. It's stale institutional slop, with processed food snacks left out. Nothing on the menu is fresh or natural. I had some food sensitivites and they had trouble wrapping their heads around it. I ended up mostly eating fruit cups and bagels with cream cheese. You cannot order food in. This policy is in place because people will try to sneak things in and this facility does take on patients who are there against their wishes via parents, employment deal, or court order. If you're running a detox, you may want to consider serving healthier food? Fresh fruit instead of canned? some high fiber grains? real meat, not frozen food? I brought this up. Hopefully they fixed it. There wasn't much to do there. They had a room full of movie theater seats with a flatscreen, a broken guitar, some supermarket books, AA stuff, and a set of chairs outside. Mostly you sit around and talk, watch tv, or sleep. It's a small property but you can walk laps. There's no counseling at the detox. Some AA volunteer groups shows up once in a while to talk. It may be helpful for some. There should be an on site counselor that does that job full time. Everyone else has their own specific job and sitting down and talking to people 1 on 1 didnt seem to be part of the description. They seem to be focused entirely on the medical detox aspect of the process. If you need rehab, you do that after, or find a rehab that does detox on site.

Long story short, 35 years of hard drinking landed me in a ditch in a city I'm not even from. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Nova is a very important and special place to me so I could really go on and on but the main point I want to testify about is this, I'm truly a better person today because of the dedication to helping people by the Nova recovery family! I can't say enough great things about my treatment at RU. I was in the PHP program and the curriculum is awesome. They definitely help you get out of your comfort zone with Open Mic on Wednesdays, which I loved! The mens houses are both very nice and comfortable. And they provide food for us and we can still purchase extra if we want. I would recommend this facility to any and everyone!

Never thought I'd be reviewing a detox/rehab facility, but Recovery Unplugged delivered. The medical team handled my detox efficiently and continued to manage my medical need throughout my residential stay. My therapist Carolyn was always available and helped me develop a solid plan for my continued recovery. The tech staff kept things moving smoothly. The meals were good for the most part (i'm pretty picky.) There was no shortage of snacks during my stay. I hope to never come back to Recovery, but would recommend it to anyone who is ready to take back their life from addiction.

If it wasn't for this amazing program and facility I wouldn't be here today. It's been almost two years since I first walked through the doors of BRC. I would first and foremost like to say that if it wasn't for the staff for taking genuine interest and concern for my overall being and seeing past my physical appearance that I was struggling with something much deeper than I wouldn't have stayed. I see some negative comments and believe me I had some when I first got to Austin, TX. But, sitting here clean and sober almost 2 years later I will admit that if it wasn't for this knowledge that was given to me by this program, I probably wouldn't be who I am today. I've come to my own realization that your addiction will convince your brain of anything to keep you living in the darkness. It will tell you that you aren't and addict or that because you look different that you aren't an addict. I'm currently still working on underlying problems that led me down the road of addiction and using them to help build my strength to continue this journey of recovery. If it wasn't for BRC I would still be a lost 29-year-old mother of 6 beautiful children and I wouldn't know that a healthy relationship looks like or that firm boundaries with unhealthy people are okay. I walk in a new light thanks to this place and the people that make this program possible. One day my children will also thank them for giving them their mom back! No words can ever express the gratitude that I have for BRC. Please have an open mind when going into this program because I promise it will all be worth it. The program is strict but our addiction are even darker.
