It’s not the most convenient location for me as it’s about 90 miles from my home, but I’ll continue receiving care there even with other options closer. My first visit was a few days ago and I worked with members of both the red and orange team. Each and every one of them was extremely kind, helpful, and it was clear they all really enjoyed what they were doing, and took great pride in providing healthcare to Veterans. If you’re considering the Kerrville VA Hospital as option for treatment, give it a try, you won’t regret it. I’m really proud to know these folks are doing such a great job at providing services to Veterans in the hill country area of Texas. I am fortunate to have experience health care with a ppo insurance care and my care at Kerrville VA, surpasses the long scheduling and in and out visit with private medical care. I have been assigned to the gold team with my primary Dr. Llanos who is diligent in taking his time in his examination, listening and making suggestions to the different treatments regarding my disabilities. My pharmacist Dr. Rodgers has been responsible for correcting and adjusting my medication and suggesting correcting eating habits to my lifestyle. For years I had previously been treated by diabetic clinic in San Antonio where my AC1 was averaging between 8 and as high as 12. My Agent Orange disabilities to include my diabetes is as good as it will get for now with my AC 1 averaging 7.5 to 7.8. I did experience some very disappointing experiences with San Antonio VA and private medical care. The Pharmacy employees onsite Kerrville our second to none in the private sector. VA care should be the type of care that is deserving for all who served our Nation especially during wartime. Much gratitude to all the staff and caretakers for their caring and service to our Veterans with the upmost respect and care. The program is strongly rooted in a 12 step approach, which was exactly what I needed, while also offering specialized programming to meet different individual needs. My son first went there at a time when he wasn’t ready to embrace recovery and after that, he spent time at many other treatment centers. When he finally reached the point where he was ready to get better La Hacienda was the place he wanted to go. That spoke volumes to me. Out of everywhere he had been, La Hacienda was the place where he felt the most comfortable and cared for. It was a place that made him believe that recovery was possible. As a mother, I understood very little about addiction so I attended 4 different family programs at his various treatment centers and the one at LaHa was by far the best. When my son returned to LaHa he specifically asked his dad to attend the family session. It was here that he finally understood addiction as a disease and was given the perspective he needed to not only support our son’s recovery but his own through attending our local Alanon. She makes sure every single person has the opportunity to share and that everyone is heard. She listens carefully and responds thoughtfully, whether someone is on topic or not. Her groups feel safe, comfortable, and respectful. You genuinely learn things about yourself that you never expected to learn. She creates an environment where people can actually open up. Shad and Jordan are also excellent counselors. Jordan is very intelligent and clearly cares deeply about the clients. He openly expresses that he cares, and you can feel that sincerity. Shad brings a tremendous amount of experience, and if you ever want to dive deep into a topic and really understand it, he’s the person to talk to. Vance is a really cool guy who gets along with everyone. He speaks to you like a human being and treats you with respect. He participates, engages, and genuinely seems to love what he does. He helps make the environment feel welcoming and real. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the breakfast. While they do provide cereal and options in the morning, it’s not always a well balanced breakfast, and it would be nice to have more consistent protein options. Something simple like microwavable breakfast sandwiches would make a big difference. Other than that, this place is incredible. The staff is kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping people rebuild their lives. They provide real resources, including help with housing and funding, and they don’t just send you back out into the world without support. They help guide you forward. Once I got there, Robert (head tech) and Angie (one of the many amazing nurses) made me feel very safe & welcomed me, explained the rules in detail and were willing to help me with whatever I needed. I did the intake process & got settled into detox. The next few days I went to classes and they opened my eyes to staying longer than my original plan which was just for detox. I stayed the whole 45 day program and it was the best decision for me. Some days were harder than others but the technicians - like Courtney, Karissa, Raven, Tito, Chris, JJ, and Sonny. - really made such a huge difference in my stay. Not only do some of them teach the courses but they are with us day to day & get to help us in some of the darkest toughest moments. Others that really helped were counselors - like Andrew, Jennifer, Chelsea, and Katie - with the curriculum, and sessions placed to help us not have to worry about outside troubles, and just to feel comfortable in our recovery. It made all the difference. And for the aftercare, there is Ripple Ranch Continuum Outreach Program, and our fantastic alumni coordinator Skyler Wellman. If anyone needs literally anything ever, he’s the man to go too, his heart and passion for the recovery in every stage is beautiful and awe inspiring. ✨ Not to mention the wonderful chefs in the kitchen who make us 3 wonderful tasty meals a day. My sleep had deteriorated to, “20-hours awake followed by 90 minutes of sleep.” This made normal life impossible. SABHH was there for me at a “critical” life or no-life point. This was not my first rodeo as I’ve been battling things for 19 years and have experience with many programs and facilities. SABHH Magnolia Unit is many performance levels above the rest. SABHH Staff made the difference from the cleaning professionals to the Extraordinaire Cafeteria gourmet cooks and bakery aficionados. Nurses and nurse technicians worked together to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all guests/patients and Staff themselves. Even when a patient was experiencing difficulty in any given moment/situation, SABHH Staff managed to maintain a safe environment, allowing for the best possible recovery of each patient. Many leave false reviews and I witnessed this multiple times. Addicts know how to manipulate and are the best of the best at doing so. SOBA has rules in place for 100% success and 100% safety for all in treatment. If you violated the rules you must be terminated to keep it a safe environment for all of us that want to heal. If a client is discharged at the fault of their own actions the first thing I heard multiple times is I am going to leave a bad review. Sadly to say we are a family of 8 (YES 8) that reside in Michigan and have recovered out of state only because of SOBA. We all have years of sobriety due to the highest standards SOBA has set to teach you a beautiful new way instead of using mind altering substances. I was petrified at age 45 to enter a treatment center and I had an extremely bad attitude when I arrived! I was determined to find something wrong with SOBA so I could have a reason to leave. SOBA is different than the other treatment centers we tried multiple times in Michigan. We all failed on numerous attempts. SOBA is loving, kind, knowledgeable, safe and a peaceful place to recover. SOBA far exceed my expectations and I stayed in treatment for 16 months. Our children (3) stayed in treatment for 2 years. My sister and nephews also recovered at SOBA with a lengthy stay in sober living. It is so important to reside in sober living after inpatient and do the work. For reference, I had Dr. Hough, and it was standard procedure. The therapists were extremely supportive, I personally had Guillermo, and he gave me an entirely new perspective. They constantly ask you how you’re feeling ,and if you have any conflicts with anyone. I never had to fear any interactions between people there, it always felt safe. PS, if you’re a foodie like me, their food is kinda mid. You can rely on their customizable salad bar and brand name things, but even the cafeteria food at points had its moments. I mean as great as something like this could be. Everyone we met from start to finish (other than one of the desk clerks for visitation) but there's one in every bunch right. The intake process is of course long as there are many waiting but I believe it is because they do it right. The answered all of our questions, gave us honest feedback and listened to both my child and us in separate settings. It came down to our child and us deciding she needed to go in and work their program. She did. And we were able to eat with her and visit just about anytime we wanted. We were able to go outside and sit together and just hang out. Was it a fun experience for her, No but did she learn some things, yes. And the big question, WAS SHE SAFE. She said yes, of course she would say that people in there had very different issues than her she was safe. And she actually met some nice people going through some tough stuff. Kudos to everyone that works there, I know it's not an easy job. David the director was so hopeful on intake, all providers were kind and communicative and if my daughter didnt feel like she connected with one they set her up with another one. The house moms or whatever they call them were also nice and helpful. If you are sent here give it a few days. They have a protocol for everyones safety but it will get better the second day and on. After detox, I was assigned the absolute best therapist I have ever had and several amazing recovery coaches that helped me work through my personal issues, legal problems, and my FMLA so I had a job to return to. I learned more about mental health, addictions, and coping skills then I ever expected. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Going on 15 months sober. I wouldnt be here if it wasn't for them. I thought I'd need a 30-day program after, but i felt so much better by day 5 that I resolved to not drink again, and still havent. They have the drug cocktail down to a science, I barely felt any serious withdrawls. The nurses are very attentive albeit DMV-ish at times, which is a good thing in that context. The staff is very kind and caring, experienced and understanding. No nurse ratchet here. You will be frustrated by some of their institutional policies, but they do a good job explaining why those policies are in place without being overbearing or condescending. The reasons I gave it 4 stars, not 5. This is not an indictment but constructive criticism, and a warning about what to expect if these issues matter to you: The food seems to be mostly cooked off site and reheated. It's stale institutional slop, with processed food snacks left out. Nothing on the menu is fresh or natural. I had some food sensitivites and they had trouble wrapping their heads around it. I ended up mostly eating fruit cups and bagels with cream cheese. You cannot order food in. This policy is in place because people will try to sneak things in and this facility does take on patients who are there against their wishes via parents, employment deal, or court order. If you're running a detox, you may want to consider serving healthier food? Fresh fruit instead of canned? some high fiber grains? real meat, not frozen food? I brought this up. Hopefully they fixed it. There wasn't much to do there. They had a room full of movie theater seats with a flatscreen, a broken guitar, some supermarket books, AA stuff, and a set of chairs outside. Mostly you sit around and talk, watch tv, or sleep. It's a small property but you can walk laps. There's no counseling at the detox. Some AA volunteer groups shows up once in a while to talk. It may be helpful for some. There should be an on site counselor that does that job full time. Everyone else has their own specific job and sitting down and talking to people 1 on 1 didnt seem to be part of the description. They seem to be focused entirely on the medical detox aspect of the process. There are many VA hospitals and clinics in Texas, but this one might very well be the best. It’s not the most convenient location for me as it’s about 90 miles from my home, but I’ll continue receiving care there even with other options closer. My first visit was a few days ago and I worked with members of both the red and orange team. Each and every one of them was extremely kind, helpful, and it was clear they all really enjoyed what they were doing, and took great pride in providing healthcare to Veterans. If you’re considering the Kerrville VA Hospital as option for treatment, give it a try, you won’t regret it. I’m really proud to know these folks are doing such a great job at providing services to Veterans in the hill country area of Texas.

My experience with the Kerrville VA hospital and its staff is very encouraging and excellent. I am fortunate to have experience health care with a ppo insurance care and my care at Kerrville VA, surpasses the long scheduling and in and out visit with private medical care. I have been assigned to the gold team with my primary Dr. Llanos who is diligent in taking his time in his examination, listening and making suggestions to the different treatments regarding my disabilities. My pharmacist Dr. Rodgers has been responsible for correcting and adjusting my medication and suggesting correcting eating habits to my lifestyle. For years I had previously been treated by diabetic clinic in San Antonio where my AC1 was averaging between 8 and as high as 12. My Agent Orange disabilities to include my diabetes is as good as it will get for now with my AC 1 averaging 7.5 to 7.8. I did experience some very disappointing experiences with San Antonio VA and private medical care. The Pharmacy employees onsite Kerrville our second to none in the private sector. VA care should be the type of care that is deserving for all who served our Nation especially during wartime. Much gratitude to all the staff and caretakers for their caring and service to our Veterans with the upmost respect and care.

The 28 days I spent there helped save my life and gave me the foundation I needed for long term recovery. The staff genuinely care and are always available to help, encourage, and support clients through every stage of the process. The program is strongly rooted in a 12 step approach, which was exactly what I needed, while also offering specialized programming to meet different individual needs. Our family’s experience with LaHa left a lasting impression on me. My son first went there at a time when he wasn’t ready to embrace recovery and after that, he spent time at many other treatment centers. When he finally reached the point where he was ready to get better La Hacienda was the place he wanted to go. That spoke volumes to me. Out of everywhere he had been, La Hacienda was the place where he felt the most comfortable and cared for. It was a place that made him believe that recovery was possible. As a mother, I understood very little about addiction so I attended 4 different family programs at his various treatment centers and the one at LaHa was by far the best. When my son returned to LaHa he specifically asked his dad to attend the family session. It was here that he finally understood addiction as a disease and was given the perspective he needed to not only support our son’s recovery but his own through attending our local Alanon. We highly recommend La Hacienda.

First and foremost, the kitchen is the star of the show here. You come for a life change, but you really stay for the food and for the kitchen manager, Andrea, who I call Ms. Drea. It’s amazing to see how much influence she has over the community and how positive she is every single day. No matter what, she sees the good in everyone. There is nothing you can say that will shake her kindness or her belief in people. She truly has a place in heaven. The operations manager, Tara, is extremely involved. She is kind, but firm when she needs to be, which makes her a great leader. She has an open door policy, and if you ever have an issue, you can walk straight into her office and she will take it seriously, no matter how small it may seem. She actually does something about it. She keeps the place well stocked. There is never a shortage of snacks, and she even asks clients what they want and makes sure it’s there. She is always busy, but she will stop what she’s doing to give you her full attention. That speaks volumes. Haley, one of the main counselors, runs extremely structured and organized groups. She makes sure every single person has the opportunity to share and that everyone is heard. She listens carefully and responds thoughtfully, whether someone is on topic or not. Her groups feel safe, comfortable, and respectful. You genuinely learn things about yourself that you never expected to learn. She creates an environment where people can actually open up. Shad and Jordan are also excellent counselors. Jordan is very intelligent and clearly cares deeply about the clients. He openly expresses that he cares, and you can feel that sincerity. Shad brings a tremendous amount of experience, and if you ever want to dive deep into a topic and really understand it, he’s the person to talk to. Vance is a really cool guy who gets along with everyone. He speaks to you like a human being and treats you with respect. He participates, engages, and genuinely seems to love what he does. He helps make the environment feel welcoming and real. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the breakfast. While they do provide cereal and options in the morning, it’s not always a well balanced breakfast, and it would be nice to have more consistent protein options. Something simple like microwavable breakfast sandwiches would make a big difference. Other than that, this place is incredible. The staff is kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping people rebuild their lives. They provide real resources, including help with housing and funding, and they don’t just send you back out into the world without support. They help guide you forward. If you are serious about changing your life, Serenity House can absolutely give you a new mindset and the tools you need to move forward. Highly recommended

I went into rehab scared, and unknowing of what to expect. Once I got there, Robert (head tech) and Angie (one of the many amazing nurses) made me feel very safe & welcomed me, explained the rules in detail and were willing to help me with whatever I needed. I did the intake process & got settled into detox. The next few days I went to classes and they opened my eyes to staying longer than my original plan which was just for detox. I stayed the whole 45 day program and it was the best decision for me. Some days were harder than others but the technicians - like Courtney, Karissa, Raven, Tito, Chris, JJ, and Sonny. - really made such a huge difference in my stay. Not only do some of them teach the courses but they are with us day to day & get to help us in some of the darkest toughest moments. Others that really helped were counselors - like Andrew, Jennifer, Chelsea, and Katie - with the curriculum, and sessions placed to help us not have to worry about outside troubles, and just to feel comfortable in our recovery. It made all the difference. And for the aftercare, there is Ripple Ranch Continuum Outreach Program, and our fantastic alumni coordinator Skyler Wellman. If anyone needs literally anything ever, he’s the man to go too, his heart and passion for the recovery in every stage is beautiful and awe inspiring. ✨ Not to mention the wonderful chefs in the kitchen who make us 3 wonderful tasty meals a day. And Ms.Nettie - can’t forget that most amazing woman✨💛 kept me strong even when I didn’t think I had anymore left in me. 🌸✨ Ripple became my home for 45 days when I needed it the very most. **FIVE STAR GOOGLE MAPS REVIEW EARNED by SABHH** ***10-STAR GOOGLE MAPS REVIEW*** Pain in my joints left me four weeks and little to no sleep. My sleep had deteriorated to, “20-hours awake followed by 90 minutes of sleep.” This made normal life impossible. SABHH was there for me at a “critical” life or no-life point. This was not my first rodeo as I’ve been battling things for 19 years and have experience with many programs and facilities. SABHH Magnolia Unit is many performance levels above the rest. SABHH Staff made the difference from the cleaning professionals to the Extraordinaire Cafeteria gourmet cooks and bakery aficionados. Nurses and nurse technicians worked together to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all guests/patients and Staff themselves. Even when a patient was experiencing difficulty in any given moment/situation, SABHH Staff managed to maintain a safe environment, allowing for the best possible recovery of each patient. Mission accomplished by SABHH STAFF…!!! I didn’t memorize everybody’s name so please accept this short, “Shout out List”. Valerie (evening shift – Magnolia): Valerie was capable of keeping things running smoothly with clear instructions and explanations of SABHH Policies, while demonstrating compassion and empathy. Waking up to deers running around on the grounds is just breathtaking, and the perfect way to start the day. There are also adorable goats (yes goats), plus horses who love to accept carrots that you can get from the kitchen. Tennis courts, basket ball hoops, swimming pools, Jacuzzis and lots of long walks close by. The staff are caring and always ready to help, the chef is wonderful, providing delicious fresh food every day, they even have their own veggie and herb garden. Soba Texas is a beautiful, serene place, providing the perfect environment for self reflection and the process of healing from life's challenges. Plus they allow you to bring your pet if you wish, which is refreshing and so nice. Group meetings and sessions are empowering and educational, Soba Texas provides a healing break away from the world and a chance to regroup, learn, grow, and then return to the world refreshed, invigorated and ready to fall in love with life again. Yup, clearly I recommend this lovely place.

First and foremost I want to say I would give SOBA a million stars if I could. Many leave false reviews and I witnessed this multiple times. Addicts know how to manipulate and are the best of the best at doing so. SOBA has rules in place for 100% success and 100% safety for all in treatment. If you violated the rules you must be terminated to keep it a safe environment for all of us that want to heal. If a client is discharged at the fault of their own actions the first thing I heard multiple times is I am going to leave a bad review. Thank you SOBA for taking a false bad review and keeping this a safe place to recover. Sadly to say we are a family of 8 (YES 8) that reside in Michigan and have recovered out of state only because of SOBA. We all have years of sobriety due to the highest standards SOBA has set to teach you a beautiful new way instead of using mind altering substances. I was petrified at age 45 to enter a treatment center and I had an extremely bad attitude when I arrived! I was determined to find something wrong with SOBA so I could have a reason to leave. SOBA is different than the other treatment centers we tried multiple times in Michigan. We all failed on numerous attempts. SOBA is loving, kind, knowledgeable, safe and a peaceful place to recover. SOBA far exceed my expectations and I stayed in treatment for 16 months. Our children (3) stayed in treatment for 2 years. My sister and nephews also recovered at SOBA with a lengthy stay in sober living. It is so important to reside in sober living after inpatient and do the work. Leaving treatment early will end in failure. If it were not for SOBA I can honestly say several of us would not be alive today.

PLEASE don’t listen to other reviews of this place. If you are nonviolent, I am almost certain that this will be a positive experience for you. Ashlyn, Liv, and Taylor were awesome! I never once encountered rude staff, they just weren’t what the external world would consider met conversational ‘standards’ in the workforce, but I wouldn’t want them too! They’re talking to CHILDREN, which means they should be approachable and kind. I have experience with outside psychiatric therapy (but not hospitalization), and this met all of my standards and expectations. The Doctor doesn’t have time to be a therapist for everyone, he’s (or she) is simply meant to oversee everything and administer your medications. For reference, I had Dr. Hough, and it was standard procedure. The therapists were extremely supportive, I personally had Guillermo, and he gave me an entirely new perspective. They constantly ask you how you’re feeling ,and if you have any conflicts with anyone. I never had to fear any interactions between people there, it always felt safe. PS, if you’re a foodie like me, their food is kinda mid. You can rely on their customizable salad bar and brand name things, but even the cafeteria food at points had its moments. If you are hesitating, don’t! This was a non-traumatic, positive experience for me. - Jasmine Errey

I know places like this will always get a mixed review from people who didnt get what they want or expected from a place or being turned away for space or not fitting criteria to get in which im sure is devastating BUT My family actually had a great experience here. I mean as great as something like this could be. Everyone we met from start to finish (other than one of the desk clerks for visitation) but there's one in every bunch right. The intake process is of course long as there are many waiting but I believe it is because they do it right. The answered all of our questions, gave us honest feedback and listened to both my child and us in separate settings. It came down to our child and us deciding she needed to go in and work their program. She did. And we were able to eat with her and visit just about anytime we wanted. We were able to go outside and sit together and just hang out. Was it a fun experience for her, No but did she learn some things, yes. And the big question, WAS SHE SAFE. She said yes, of course she would say that people in there had very different issues than her she was safe. And she actually met some nice people going through some tough stuff. Kudos to everyone that works there, I know it's not an easy job. David the director was so hopeful on intake, all providers were kind and communicative and if my daughter didnt feel like she connected with one they set her up with another one. The house moms or whatever they call them were also nice and helpful. If you are sent here give it a few days. They have a protocol for everyones safety but it will get better the second day and on. Thanks for all you do and keep up the hard work.

I just want to thank Amina for providing great care to my family member while they were hospitalized on 3East. It was a very difficult time for my family. She was exceptionally competent, kind and compassionate. There was a lot of uncertainty. She communicated well with my family member and made every effort to manage the pain and condition in conjunction with the doctor's orders. She even coordinated their transition to rehab with their medication regimen to ensure there was no delays and the transfer was as comfortable as possible. She treated them with respect and dignity, and most importantly, like they really mattered.

Recovery unplugged changed my life in ways I never thought possible. The care for their clients went far beyond my expectations of rehabilitation centers. My counselor LuLu helped me find the understanding of myself needed to move forward from active addiction, my case manager Chloe provided me the resources needed to take the next steps, and my Alumni Coordinator Natalie has an incomparable heart for those in recovery as they take those next steps. The program also entrenches you in the Austin recovery community, intentionally becoming the connective tissue with society needed for rehabilitation from addiction. I was a client here and stayed for 3 months. I honestly only had the intention to stay 1. Each month I agreed to extend because this place was worth it. One of my character flaws is perfectionism and I could complain about some small issues, but honestly that's irrelevant to the support and care I received. After detox, I was assigned the absolute best therapist I have ever had and several amazing recovery coaches that helped me work through my personal issues, legal problems, and my FMLA so I had a job to return to. I learned more about mental health, addictions, and coping skills then I ever expected. I met lot of amazing friends that I still keep in regular contact with since my departure and most of the staff are incredibly loving and caring. Food and facility cleanliness was also great. Overall, I had my ups and downs, but was shown to overcome them and have been thriving more than I had in a long time before arriving to windmill. God always keeps my life "interesting", but I'm glad this place came into my life.

Long story short, 35 years of hard drinking landed me in a ditch in a city I'm not even from. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Nova is a very important and special place to me so I could really go on and on but the main point I want to testify about is this, I'm truly a better person today because of the dedication to helping people by the Nova recovery family! Nova is far from perfect, and some of the information can be misleading. But if you want to dive deep into the 12 Steps while enjoying good food and a beautiful scenic view, this is the place for you. The staff is great — the RAs and techs are friendly and genuinely care. The woman who runs it, however, can be unreasonable and enforces some silly rules (like not being allowed to save your food for later — insanity), but fortunately, she’s not around much. Jeff and Korn are the ones who really run the show. They have a ton of recovery experience and are both awesome guys who truly care. Jeff changed my life and helped save my marriage, so the place gets five stars from me for that reason alone. Thank you to Jeff, Korn, Cassandra, Jen, Leon Phelps, Aaron, and the rest of the staff!

I came here barely alive, hopelessly alcoholic after years of heavy daily drinking. Going on 15 months sober. I wouldnt be here if it wasn't for them. I thought I'd need a 30-day program after, but i felt so much better by day 5 that I resolved to not drink again, and still havent. They have the drug cocktail down to a science, I barely felt any serious withdrawls. The nurses are very attentive albeit DMV-ish at times, which is a good thing in that context. The staff is very kind and caring, experienced and understanding. No nurse ratchet here. You will be frustrated by some of their institutional policies, but they do a good job explaining why those policies are in place without being overbearing or condescending. The reasons I gave it 4 stars, not 5. This is not an indictment but constructive criticism, and a warning about what to expect if these issues matter to you: The food seems to be mostly cooked off site and reheated. It's stale institutional slop, with processed food snacks left out. Nothing on the menu is fresh or natural. I had some food sensitivites and they had trouble wrapping their heads around it. I ended up mostly eating fruit cups and bagels with cream cheese. You cannot order food in. This policy is in place because people will try to sneak things in and this facility does take on patients who are there against their wishes via parents, employment deal, or court order. If you're running a detox, you may want to consider serving healthier food? Fresh fruit instead of canned? some high fiber grains? real meat, not frozen food? I brought this up. Hopefully they fixed it. There wasn't much to do there. They had a room full of movie theater seats with a flatscreen, a broken guitar, some supermarket books, AA stuff, and a set of chairs outside. Mostly you sit around and talk, watch tv, or sleep. It's a small property but you can walk laps. There's no counseling at the detox. Some AA volunteer groups shows up once in a while to talk. It may be helpful for some. There should be an on site counselor that does that job full time. Everyone else has their own specific job and sitting down and talking to people 1 on 1 didnt seem to be part of the description. They seem to be focused entirely on the medical detox aspect of the process. If you need rehab, you do that after, or find a rehab that does detox on site.
