About Another Chance 4 Change

Located in Leander, Texas, and serving residents throughout Travis County is the counseling support service, Another Chance 4 Change. This is an organization that provides counseling services to individuals struggling with addiction to alcohol and other substances. They provide wraparound support through both in-person counseling sessions and Zoom meetings. While they prioritize clinical approaches to care, they also recognize the importance of holistic therapies that treat your mind, body and soul.

Support If You’re Navigating the Legal System

There are providers here who are licensed to offer Guardian Ad Litem services if there are children in your life who are being impacted by substance abuse struggles, either your own or a loved one’s. Ways you’ll be supported include supervised visitation, as providers here are on the approved list in Travis County to provide such support. As your child works through their own recovery plan, you or your loved one can benefit from the one-on-one counseling that happens here so that you do what it takes to satisfy whatever court orders may be in place.

Taking the First Step to Recovery

Another Chance 4 Change specializes in supporting adults who are just starting out on their recovery journey. However, you should be stabilized and have completed a detoxification program if you had a chemical dependency. The counseling services here can support you as you try to reclaim your life.

You’ll work one on one with your therapist to work through the challenges you’re facing. In your sessions, you’ll build critical skills that help you identify triggers, and you’ll learn strategies to help you manage stressors that would otherwise lead to relapse.

Supportive Recovery Environment

This is a very close knit organization, and as you work with your treatment team, you’ll build relationships with your care team. You’ll be motivated to focus on your strengths and feel a general sense of empowerment as you begin to develop the habits you need for success.

The counseling support here goes beyond just trying to address the symptoms you’re experiencing. Instead, you’ll work diligently to get to the root cause of the struggles you’re facing. Addressing the root cause can help you maintain your sobriety in the long run because you’ll tackle your life’s issues head on instead of trying to mask the pain with substance use.

Have mixed feelings at this juncture and will likely edit this review and elaborate on a conclusion once this is all over. Some of the ladies are absolutely marvelous and have been so good with my daughter and advocating for her and just generally being caring and lovely, I'm super happy with that part. There's definitely a need for improving communication and professionalism elsewhere though, among tact. All things that can be refined at least.

The owner is untrustworthy, manipulative also very controlling. Is extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. You can randomly pick another facility and it will be better. Save yourself go elsewhere. NEVER allow her to gain any type of leverage over you.

Auburne is inconsiderate and rude. I parked in an unmarked parking lot close to the studio I had an appointment at. Yes, I doubled checked for towing signs (UPDATE: 30 min customer only parking signs have now been posted as of 05/2019) As I was exiting my car a very loud women started harassing me from the other side of the street while driving. Concerned and not knowing this person, I hurried up to my appointment. I had second thoughts about my car being vandalized so I went back to move it. Sure enough, Auburne parked next to my car and was there upon my return. Harassing me the entire time I moved my car, she proceed to yell obscenities and that this was apparently a private parking lot. 1) it was the day before thanksgiving and there was only two cars in the parking lot, being hers and mine and 2) there were absolutely no signs mentioning is was private lot. To my surprise, I later I found out that she is practicing counseling! How can you possibly help others,if this is how you treat a stranger? A simple, “excuse me, I know there are not signs posted but this is a private lot” would have sufficed. The response below speak volumes on her character. I see this women as I pass my monthly appointments and can confirm she is in fact the same women.

Other Forms of Payment

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.
