About Didi Hirsch Via Avanta
Pacoima, California, is a neighborhood in Los Angeles and one of San Fernando Valley’s oldest communities. Located there is Didi Hirsch Via Avanta, a facility that provides residential mental health and substance use treatment for mothers. They allow women to bring children six years old as they receive treatment.
You’ll have an opportunity to receive psychiatric services and medication support. Didi Hirsch has been providing addiction, mental health and suicide prevention services since 1942. They have received accreditation and accolades from the Joint Commission and Charity Navigator.
Via Avanta has been in operation for more than 30 years. In Spanish, it means “the way forward,” which is what they desire to provide for their patients. Along with mental illness and substance abuse treatment, this facility can provide you assistance with issues related to poverty and domestic violence.
They desire to give all of their clients an environment where they feel safe and respected. The facility was one of the earliest locations to recognize the value of keeping mothers and young children together during treatment.
The treatments they use to help clients include 12 step programs, support groups and addiction counseling. Specialized psychiatric care is available for both adults and children. I like that they also offer holistic treatments such as yoga and meditation.
Staff members will help provide clients with all the resources they need to maintain their recovery. Via Avanta can assist with court related issues, housing placement, and employment assistance. Throughout your treatment, you’ll work with a bilingual staff of licensed professionals trained in evidence based practices.

Other Forms of Payment
Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.
Addiction Treatments
Levels of Care
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
