About Eskenazi Health Center West 38th Street

Eskenazi Health Center–West 38th Street is an outpatient drug and alcohol rehab for adults in Indianapolis, Indiana. They offer medically supervised ambulatory detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), outpatient programming, and aftercare planning and support.

Specialized services at Eskenazi Health Center–West 38th Street include targeted programs for young adults, seniors, bilingual persons, pregnant and postpartum women, and persons with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Staff work with each client to determine the best course of treatment, which may include some or all of the following services:

Medically Supervised Ambulatory Detox and MAT
Clients undergoing ambulatory detox receive robust medical supervision and may be prescribed FDA-approved medications to ease withdrawal symptoms and prevent potentially serious complications. Those in opioid recovery may enroll in the evidence-based MAT program for longer-term pharmacotherapy using methadone and/or buprenorphine.

Outpatient and Aftercare Services
Medical and mental health assessments, personalized care planning, and comprehensive case management are included for all outpatient clients. Participants also engage in intensive, trauma-informed individual, group, and family counseling that draws on proven modalities, including CBT and DBT. The program promotes clients’ sustained sobriety through robust, recovery-focused life-skills training which addresses topics such as coping, self-care, anger and stress management, and relapse prevention.

Their aftercare services ensure a complete continuum of care aligned with clients’ evolving needs. These services may include step-down support, 12-Step program facilitation, peer coaching, and referrals for additional medical, mental health, and social service programs.

Accreditation and Payment
Eskenazi Health Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and accepts private insurance, military insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, sliding-scale payment schedules, and self-pay. Financial aid is available.

I am deeply disappointed with the treatment of interpreters at Eskanazi Hospital. As interpreters, our work is crucial in ensuring clear communication between providers and patients. However, instead of receiving appreciation, we are often met with rudeness and disrespect. Providers frequently hang up on us and treat us dismissively. This behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. It costs nothing to say thank you and show basic courtesy.

I like the treatment, I take it very well, very nice everyone is very friendlyThe only problem is that they take a long time to attend to you even if you bring SITA, if it takes a long time, they will wait for them to attend to you, so that would only be it.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The goal of family therapy in Indiana is to empower family members to effectively support their loved one's recovery. Therapists work with family members to develop the skills needed to manage stress and resolve conflicts successfully. This fosters a positive environment that is conducive to long term sobriety.

The doctors are great but the pharmacy is horrible! They will mess up your prescription every time. I came up to the pharmacy 2 times and called and they still can't get my children's basic prescription correct! They are very rude and lazy.
