At first I have to say, I would not have given them any stars BUT I went in high and by day 2 felt pretty bad already. I walked in on my own accord and on day 3 almost walked out. Thanks to a few of the employees there I did not. They talked me through the worst of the times I had in there and that alone is why I am sitting here typing this review. They literally saved my life. Anyone who is reading this I just want to say something that I hope the right people hear....there is nothing easy about getting clean or staying clean. But there is also nothing easy about staying high. It is possible to live again after addiction. But no one can be forced into it. They have to be ready. At their ropes end so to speak...emotionally, financially, physically what ever the case it has to be their choice. Someone who is not an addict cant tell an addict what they need to do and how they should just stop. That would be like telling someone not on drugs to stop breathing. I know anyone who has never been there and is reading this is thinking that I am a moron, and well maybe but I am a CLEAN moron. 75 days today. I am a great father again and a great husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and I AM ALIVE for the first time in many years. So please to the parents with an addict for a child, or a spouse with a husband or wife that has an addiction or a best friend....Please go easy on who ever it is that you are trying to help. Have compassion and love in your heart. Try to be understanding even if your angry at them and you are most certainly angry at them but your angry because you love them and you are worried about them. Try to remember that every time to want to offer them help. Because I will tell you the Gods honest truth, a true addict and this is coming from someone who was putting 500 dollars a day of Fentanyl in his arm (the most powerful opiate for human consumption) but a honest to God true addict doesn't want to be. They are in a very very lonely place. They feel like they are in this world all alone. Like being on some deserted island with no happiness at all not even from the drug. More guilt than you can even begin to imagine from all the lies, and the stealing money and losing everything or selling everything they have ever owned. Trust me when I say they know where they stand in the eyes of the world. So its up to you as their loved ones to give them them the confidence and strength and support that they need to make the right decision and its up to them to make it. I do apologize for the long review but if only one person gets something helpful out of what I wrote here today then I feel like Im helping. So the original post........how do I rate the detox unit in Bartow (AKA The Mary Lyons Center) well, 5 stars. Yes its state funded and the bottom of the barrel but you are not there on vacation, your there to go through 5 days of hell to get your life back. Honestly I would imagine that it would not matter where you are when you begin to get severely dope sick. There is no meds to help with the withdrawls other than clonidine and for an addict thats like eating skittles. But the worse it feels and the more it hurts the longer your going to remember what you went through and hopefully you wont want to put yourself through it again. And PS all free detox facilities are going to suck to some extreme. Thank you to everyone at The Mary Lyons detox unit for everything. I honestly owe my life to you. Oh everyone but Marlena. She caused me more problems than she even realizes. And if your reading this Marlena.....I'm still clean and doing better than I ever have so what you told my wife on the phone was just simple ignorance.

This facility is incredible. The staff is my favorite part. From Ryan and Mark in admissions, Angel, Jason and Shannon directors on site, my case manager Amanda, and therapist Joel. All incredibly supportive and understand addiction and recovery. The support staff is highly professional as well. Medical staff was very knowledgable. Detox was smooth. The gym and pool are amazing amenities as well as volleyball and other activities. Thank you WhiteSands!

I went to this program a few years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, I learned structure which I needed bàdly. How to make and keep friends, basic life skills, money mangement and and how to live life on life's terms. Career skills, sober living, skills needed to do it yourself, how to take care of your health. It was an amazing experience and it wasn't all fun but it was all worth it in the end.

I will say that I could hear & feel everything under anesthesia until she saw that my eye was crying because I was screaming for help in the inside and my body wasn’t able to say what was wrong, but they could tell by my tears about a half an hour to an hour an into . Near death experience open your eyes . & I’m very happy with Amber the psychiatrist I am now getting the sleep I need to be able to function in an everyday life . You go without sleep & nothing puts you to sleep I’ll tell you , you feel like your in Egyptian times. So God bless everyone who helped me recover . My time at Tikvah Lake helped me to develop a level of self awareness, resilience, and coping skills that I never would have possessed otherwise. The staff at Tikvah Lake approached my underlying personality challenges with compassion and expertise. They helped me see that my traits, like my the intense emotions, the patterns of thinking and relating, were not lifelong sentences to misery. Instead, they are a set of challenges that, when understood can be managed. From the great food, beautiful lake, the Florida sun, a personal trainer, massage therapist and very good professional therapists, counselors and support staff, they provided a peaceful and safe place that was essential for me to open up and do the hard work that I needed to do to heal. This program wasn't just about talk therapy. The program helped me build a toolbox for life, not just sobriety. Oh, did I mention that I am a professional and the program also gave me the time and freedom to do the professional work that I still needed to do while I was there. I have been to many rehabs and this one by far has been the best I have ever experienced. From admission to after care the staff at Tikvah and Park Manor have went above and beyond for both my wife and myself. The space was immaculate and peaceful. All of my basic needs were taken care of so I could focus on my recovery, relationships, and spiritually. Every single staff member took the time and care to impact my life positively and will not soon be forgotten. I want to make a special mention to Zach, Katherine, Roosevelt, Deandra, Diane, Donielle, and Jimmy. We were able to do family counseling for my wife and I with Jimmy and he helped us to work through our relationship to foster the love and move past our resentments. I was able to develop my personal recovery plan and I left feeling prepared and full of gratitude. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Anyone I love that struggles with mental health or addiction this would be my choice for them with out a doubt. I can't thank them enough.

Heather the counselors and the doctor run a wonderful facility here. They offer freedom from active addiction a promise of renewed hope and a purposeful driven life free from addiction. My stay here a year ago also provided me the opportunity to live in their sober living home. The art, equine, yoga and reki thrapy sessions are incredible. I really liked the bio bed as well as my free time on the patio. 7 Summit Pathways reintroduced me to mindful meditation, grounding techniques and journaling. My counselor Doug was very encouraging. I was able to get a job near to their sober living house in Valrico and protect my anonymity. They had a nice dinner for the holidays and other clients families would join us. The van was always a safe drive and i always felt reassured and comfortable. They offer a native American Wellbriety meeting on Wednesday at 7pm i look forward to returning to again soon. Alot of these examples have helped me as i was able to keep my sponsor and take steps in the 12 step Narcotics Anonymous program. 7 Summit Pathways helped me keep living a productive good and healthy life. I just wanted to say how incredibly helpful and amazing Heather was tonight during a crisis. I reached out at midnight about a family member and was blown away by her kindness, willingness to talk/help, etc. I have worked in the substance abuse field for over 15 years and been a patient as well. I know that parts of the system can be broken at times. Heather went above and beyond what I have ever seen anyone do. She really cares and is a true angel.

Whew! Where to even start - I’m so grateful and honored - After completing a 10-day inpatient rehab for alcohol, I entered Sophros Recovery’s IOP and OP programs — and I can honestly say it completely turned my life around. I came into the program with a heavy heart, still grieving the losses of my father and younger brother, and burdened by years of personal struggles and past relationship hardships. But Sophros gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope, direction, and a true sense of belonging.
From the very first day, the entire faculty made me feel welcomed and supported. It truly felt like a second home — a safe space to focus on healing, growth, and rediscovering who I am.
A huge shoutout to Rajon, my therapist, who has been absolutely incredible. I've been through 7 or 8 treatment facilities and successfully completed two prior PHP programs. This program has given me the most individual attention, comfortability and feelings towards being cared for properly. The staff genuinely cares and although I am a Christian, I like that Buddhism is incorporated as an overall message of peace. Thank you Sophros.

I did intensive outpatient with Riverside in the summer of 2024. It was wonderful! The group therapy sessions were aimed at us patients helping one another get through recovery and life as newly sober people. The one on one sessions focused on my personal issues and struggles with recovery. They also do family sessions which help the entire family navigate this new life. I highly recommend Riverside for anyone looking for help.
