book iconAlcoholism

Alcoholism, also known as alcohol use disorder (AUD), is a pattern of experiencing difficulty controlling alcohol consumption and a failure to stop drinking even when it causes problems. Treatment for this addiction is typically customized for each person, but generally follows a three-step process. Alcohol rehab in Delaware begins with supervised detox, followed rehabilitation, then maintenance.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

Recovery is possible for those who complete drug rehab in Delaware. These programs specialize in providing an environment that encourages sobriety and a professional staff that provides the tools to overcome addiction. Participants receive a customized treatment plan tailored to their needs.

head-side-medical iconDual Diagnosis

Delaware offers specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs to address the prevalence of mental health conditions co-occurring with substance use disorders. These programs provide various levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. Addiction experts use a combination of evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), together with skills training, recovery groups, and education, to simultaneously treat both conditions and improve overall mental and physical health.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

car-building iconOutpatient

Clients in outpatient rehab have often completed inpatient treatment and are stable and progressing in their recovery journey. Others may have elected to move straight from detox into outpatient care to minimize disruptions to their work or family life. Because outpatient clients’ needs may vary widely, treatment programs and levels of care are also often diverse. Clients requiring more frequent and substantive psychotherapy and recovery support may enroll in intensive outpatient (IOP) or partial hospitalization (PHP) programs.

Gateway offers inpatient drug rehab and alcohol treatment programs that provide each and every person with the knowledge, therapy, counseling and tools needed to live a life free of drugs and alcohol. Gateway's inpatient alcohol and drug rehab program is designed to help a person through some of the more difficult moments as their mind and body go through many different changes. With 24/7 availability of Gateway's staff, their inpatient drug rehab programs provide the safety and stability a person needs to maintain their sobriety.

book-medical icon12-Step

The 12 step program model has become a standard in addiction recovery. It combines peer coaching with spiritual development to address the root causes of addiction while providing those in recovery with robust, judgment-free support. Participants self-select a sponsor to guide them through their recovery journey, engage in regular group meetings, and “work the steps” to achieve healing emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth. Though 12 step recovery is spiritually-focused, religious affiliation is not required.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. During Gateway's Family Counseling sessions, family situations caused by substance abuse issues are addressed in an open and respectful atmosphere. Their certified counselor listens to the challenges families have been experiencing, teaches coping skills, sheds light on how to support a chemically dependent family member and explains what to expect in recovery.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely. Counselors assist individuals in exploring their core values and deeply held goals. These values and goals are usually inconsistent with continued substance abuse, so they become the guiding force toward behaving in a way that is consistent with positive, healthy living.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma can be seen in chemically dependent people's history and while it does not cause chemical dependency, it can be a block to recovery that needs to be part of both the treatment and recovery process. Trauma can result from experiences of violence and includes physical, sexual and institutional abuse, neglect and disasters that induce powerlessness, fear, recurrent hopelessness and a constant state of alert or even anxiety. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by trauma. Gateway Treatment Centers is committed to providing a supportive environment in addition to professionals who are trained in evidence-based trauma practices. Grounded in trust and mutual respect, their collaborative methodology helps individuals in treatment leverage their strengths and improve coping skills.
