Turning Winds has been a life changing experience for our entire family! I was so worried about sending our daughter so far away, and for such a long time. It is a giant and frightening decision to send your child to a long term therapeutic boarding school. So, I am thrilled to be able to share with you that our daughter spent 8 months at Turning Winds, and it was the best decision that we ever made. It is a safe, supportive, comprehensive, family-oriented environment. Their 20 plus years of experience, incredibly dedicated staff, specialized attention to each individual and their choice of location in rural Montana has created a truly unique environment and opportunity for struggling teens to SLOW DOWN, evaluate the choices they are making, (ideally begin to understand why) , learn effective coping skills, to discover the reality that they themselves hold the key to creating a life worth living. Turning Winds is a co-ed facility; however, the boys and girls are kept primarily separated. Turning Winds is also a highly reputable therapeutic boarding school with a fantastic credit recovery program to help struggling teens get things academically back on track. Turning Winds works with the entire family unit to help untangle dysfunctional patterns, behaviors and relationships, teach effective communication skills, and provide the time and space for real healing to occur for the whole family. It is so hard to let go, accept our own powerlessness over our children’s behaviors or diagnosis, and accept the help we need as a family. Turning Winds is the place that will hold space for all your concerns, connect with your child in a real and lasting way, and help guide the whole family into a healthier way of living regardless of the struggles and challenges that make up our lives.

My son has been struggling for years with depression, anxiety, and unhealthy online relationships. As a parent, I felt helpless watching him withdraw from family, fail in school, and lose hope. Sending him to Turning Winds was the hardest decision I've made but it was also the best one. From day one, the staff surrounded him with compassion, structure, and genuine care. His therapist has been a true blessing-a strong, positive male role model who helped him understand his behaviors and rebuild his confidence. The teachers, nurses, and other staff completely transformed his life. He's now thriving in school, confident, and reconnecting with family. I'll forever be grateful to Turning Winds for helping my son find hope and happiness again. I can't thank them enough for their dedication, communication, and belief in their students. They truly care about saving lives and helping families heal.

I've been at tamarack for a while now both with one on one therapy and alcohol treatment...it's a breath of fresh air, to have a place that not only understands that life happens and self care is important but that we are all imperfect in our own ways. They dig deep in getting to know you, your childhood - adult years to better establish the core beliefs and root causes of your issues. I highly recommended and also believe that every one star on this review is from individuals that probably didn't take accountability or personal responsibility for their own actions. I'm gonna continue with tamarack rate 5 stars.

I was fearful coming here with my long history of overdoing it with the alcohol. These people immediately made me feel ok just being me. I'm on my fourth taper down med day and am starting to feel like myself again. They are with you every step of the way. I can't say enough wonderful things. The only thing that was unpleasant at first is the stand up check in that seemed to take forever the first day when I was feeling shaky but it got easier and easier the better I started feeling. i only spent 30 days there and i found the staff wonderful. even when i picked up a bully they handled it very well. however one thing you should tell your new people that they cannot trade, or borrow. i was given some clothes from aborted client and they took them away from me plus some of my own clothes i never got back. And some how my clothing inventory was blank but i came in with a full duffle bag.... im sure its just a matter of confusion and being busy. only other thing is that their food was waaay to salty even for someone who doesn't have heart issues. and last thing please offer more than just coffee some of us do not like the stuff would be nice to have tea or hot chocolate not just coffee. i had a great time and i would love to work or go back . thanks guys

I am a lifetime alcoholic who suffers from diabetes and I came to ABHS for counseling and treatment. They treated my diabetes like it wasn't important. But that wasn't the inclusive problem; the so called "care team" should be referred to the "I don't care" team. Mostly made up of very lazy obese women with no real motivation to make it a comfortable experience. Former criminals and addicts themselves, the know exactly how to get over and do less which is acceptable to the faculty that's supposed to be understanding to the needs of the patient. There is so much more I could mention but will stop here. Sooner or later you get busted and then lawsuits start.

My experience was so wonderful. First off EVERYONE from administration office (we took a wrong turn) to the front desk, to the janitor, to the dentist and especially the hygienists. Wow. Just an incredible staff you have. Such a warmth I have never felt in any medical field. We live in post falls which is a little bit of a drive, and there had been a miscommunication and I had assumed we had made an appointment for a cleaning, apparently at a new patient appointment they only take X-rays. Well Connie had made herself available and moved some things around to get both my son and I cleaned that same day. During our visit to the dental clinic, we were helped by Connie, Lin and Dr. Frank. Awesome awesome people. I felt respected and heard and not like just another patient. This was our first visit, and it felt different, Marimn health felt more like a community. I’m looking forward to our future visits.

Worst place ever I stood outside for 20 mins while the staff looked at me as I rang the door bell to deliver stuff to them. The level of unprofessional is outstanding. 5 people were in the office and just stared at me while I tried delivering their stuff I would rather just throw it away as they can’t do their jobs and answer a door. The staff is 100 percent unprofessional in the day and if u are trying to get help don’t go here they can’t answer a door, how can they help you? By ignoring you telling you they are the staff u will do whatever they want and if not you’re in trouble. Sounds like a fantastic place for recovery

New Horizons Care Center has been a lifesaver — and Dustin deserves major recognition. I came in overwhelmed, trying to balance a new travel-heavy job while staying compliant with probation and UA requirements. Instead of taking my money and rushing me through intake, the front desk told me to hold off until we could confirm the program would actually work for my situation. That alone showed honesty and integrity. When Dustin called, he didn’t give me a generic answer. He listened, asked the right questions, and walked me through what could be done. My case wasn’t routine, but he still said, “We’ll figure it out.” By the end of that call, he took me onto his caseload, and for the first time in a long time, I felt real hope. Other facilities either didn’t offer telehealth or shut me down with quick “no, we can’t do that” responses. Dustin took the opposite approach — he cared, he problem-solved, and he helped me build a plan that kept my job on track while still meeting every treatment and probation requirement. After 25+ years of dealing with addiction programs, I have never felt this level of genuine care. Huge thanks also to Chris, my telehealth counselor, who treated me like an individual and helped me find workable solutions so I never had to miss class or work. And to the amazing woman who helped me get medical insurance — you went above and beyond, spending over two hours on the phone with me and providers so I wouldn’t be crushed by financial stress. I’m sorry I don’t remember your name, but I won’t forget what you did for me. If you need a team that truly cares and actually helps you move forward, New Horizons — especially Dustin — is the place to go. Highly recommend.

Ask for Heidi. She IS what this business is all about. She truly has been a blessing and I am so grateful for her guidance and relatable feedback! I consider myself very lucky to have ended up in her office for my assessment. (I truly believe it was not “by chance” and was no “accident”). I say that because, in my experience, my success relied primarily on my ability to connect with my treatment provider. It played an essential part of my willingness to see things through and to fully open up. I needed to feel I was in a safe space. With someone who I could trust. Someone who I believed had my best interests in mind. Someone I felt had a genuine desire to aid in my recovery. I proudly admit that she checked each and every one of those boxes. I had an instant connection with her and feel it remained that way, consistently, throughout the entirety of my treatment. I owe her a giant “thank you” for her constant kindness, for her unique approach, and for her continued wisdom and encouragement. She is an incredible asset to this field and the way that she genuinely care for those still suffering is inspiring and remarkably beautiful. 10/10 RECOMMEND!

I first found breakthrough in 2023, and the program was so great. I left feeling motivated to change, unfortunately life caught up to me and I didn’t use the many tools, resources and education they provided when I left and needed to return in 2025. They welcomed me back with no judgement and gave me the opportunity to grow once again. The counselors are all amazing, and they have the ability to guide you but also hold you accountable all while being supportive and genuinely caring. This place saved me, by giving me the confidence in myself that I can live a sober and joyful life. The many people I met throughout the program were a bright spot during my time there. Being able to meet people from all different backgrounds, but all having the common struggle with the disease humbled me and allowed so much growth to learn but also build genuine connections and friendships. It is hard work, and the need to take accountability for my own actions is what is needed to succeed, but Breakthrough was the place I felt most safe, seen and heard to accomplish a sober life. Forever grateful!

Breakthrough has been an amazing resource for me. They were able to help arrange a payment plan, and the groups are very beneficial to my recovery. The counselors are all kind and invested in helping their clients. Highly recommend to anyone ready to achieve and maintain sobriety. They offer various levels of treatment from PHP to Outpatient services. Also, forewarning: they will hold you accountable. You may think your disease is "not that severe," or you can "control" it, but that's part of the disease. You have to be ready and willing because they expect your sobriety as part of the treatment. You dont get "kicked out" for relapsing. I knew multiple people with multiple relapses who continued to participate. You may be recommended to another facility for higher level of care if you CONTINUE to use after a relapse or multiple relapses with no improvement, as you are no longer suitable for outpatient care. Your care is discussed amongst staff meetings as a care team approach is generally recommended for this type of treatment; that is not a HIPAA violation as you agree to this when signing up. EDIT: I was just discharged from treatment today. I have been sober for over 9 months, and I have Breakthrough to thank for this. They ensured proper continuity of care and referrals for mental health counselling. They made it known I can always reach out to them if needed despite completing my care here. Again, as I said, this program works. It's not easy, and you have to work with them. This isn't suitable for everyone as some people require higher level of care if they cannot stop use, and Breakthrough is honest about individual client needs. I recommended this to anyone who qualifies for Partial Hospitalization or lower level of treatments.

The intensive outpatient program provides individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and couples counseling. This program also accepts individuals who are currently detoxing from opioid medications through a medication-assisted treatment program. Most frequently, intensive outpatient services meet for a total of nine hours per week
Went to Colonial Clinic November 2020, and I am so incredibly grateful I found them. At the time I attended (I hope it's still the same to this day) they require attendance of an outside support group, and strongly suggest getting a sponsor. I followed the suggestions and am still with the same sponsor to this day (May 2023). Did Colonial fix my problems? No. But it was a great first step coming here. That's why I give them five stars, because they kick-started my lifelong recovery process.

I just read the reviews for this place and allow me to retort. First off this place saved my life. I checked into ABHS not knowing the program, their reputation, or the temperament of the staff. The staff are a simply amazing!! Ms. B, Ms. Patrick, Ms. Moore, Ms. Womack, Mr. Torres, Mr. Van B., Mr. Prutsman, Ms. Wolf, Mr. Torres, Mr. Cuastic, Ms. Standfield, Ms. O’Brien, Mr. Guy, Ms. Aguilar, Ms. Dobins, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Hirtch, Ms. Brown, Ms. Chichester, Ms. Wagner, the 3 Mr. Gs, Ms. Pagan, Mr. O, Mr. Hemple, Mr. Dock, Ms. Sumptner, Ms. Bopa, Ms. Wilamu, Ms. Garcia, Ms. Fouler, Ms. Lee, Ms. Karris, Ms. Davy, Ms. Nguyen, Mr. Cooper, and to any of you that I am forgetting I want to tell you all that I will always remember you all. You all were my rock when I needed it, you called me on my sh!t, helped me grow and learn, and got me started on my path to sobriety. Ms. Standfield there are no words, you were my life coach, my safe place, someone who I admire, someone I want to be like, and you don’t do it for praise or fame. You took me under your wing, gave me so so so many gold nuggets to put in my backpack you made me rich. You are wicked smart and taught me how my childhood trauma affected me and how to not be victim to it anymore. When the student is ready……the teacher presents themself. Mr. Van B., Ms. Brown, Ms. Davy, Ms. Chichester, and Mr. Prutsman you are fair, just, straight forward, honest, and forgiving. You showed me compassion, empathy, support, guidance, gave me second chances, and did not let me self destruct. You all are the best example of what true leaders are really are. For those reviews that try to disrespect and put a stain on all the good you do well they are absolutely wrong. To those that have anything negative to say about this place well some of your expectations are a bit far fetched. First don’t bring a child to see their parent in rehab. It’s traumatizing and that trauma causes addiction so way to go. Also no you can’t leave rehab and go to the store to buy contraband. You could have brought drugs into rehab causing a relapse or a overdose. What gives you the right to miss treat the staff and expect them to take it and allow you to stay. All of these behaviors are of someone not willing to commit to being sober. If you can’t learn to behave like normal people and follow rules in a safe place how can you expect to do that in the real world. My point is this the program at ABHS is working for those that want to be sober. I have been to rehab 3 times and I just graduated on 6/18 and it’s the last time I am ever going to rehab because this place taught me how to stand up on my own two feet get past my abuse, my low self astern, looking for my worth from others, and help shape me into the man I am today. Sure rehab has rules some of them may seem weird or even dumb at times but they are there to teach you to retrain you to prepare you as best they can so when you walk out of their doors into the real world you are ready to succeed at a sober life. For those that got booted you know what if you would have apologized taken your lumps and showed that you were truly sorry for your acts they would have allowed you back in. ABHS doesn’t say no to anyone. They let you come back again and again. This is a good place run by people that are trying to save people’s lives. They’ve seen everything that you can think of and do the best they can. However, we as addicts have to meet them halfway if we don’t want it, what they teach won’t stick and we won’t be prepared and we will go back in use. It’s up to us to choose the right thing to make good choices and to heal if that’s what you want then this is the place you wanna go to because they will make sure with every fiber of their being to try and help you to teach you to show you empathy and compassion, in your darkest moment they are the light that guides you to a path of sobriety. And anyone says different than they weren’t ready to be sober in the first place.

Employees there are babysitters. They don’t give a shit about whether or not these people are successful in their sobriety after leaving that so-called treatment facility. This is why we have a crime problem in Spokane. facilities like this do not actually give a shit and they basically babysit them until their time is up and then let them go.
