31733 South Fork Yaak Rd
Troy, MT 59935
| Troy, Montana is home to Turning Winds, a residential treatment facility for adolescents aged 13 to 18 with mental health and drug abuse issues. Surrounded by magnificent mountains and an abundance of natural beauty, this facility is situated close to the banks of the South Fork Yaak River. A psychiatrist, certified teachers, and licensed clinician | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I am writing this review to help to encourage any parents who are experiencing serious challenges/concerns with their son or daughter to give Turning Winds their full consideration. Like many of you who are exploring, we found an overwhelming amount of negativity out there surrounding programs like TW or others who may be similar. Fortunately we took the time to dive deeper, beyond the exaggerations, and both misleading and completely false narratives that have been created by individuals with some agenda that I cannot fathom. Instead we chose to weed through the garbage and looked at the positive reviews from the actual parents of kids that Turning Winds has helped. It was not a decision that we took lightly, nor one that we regret. It was the hardest decision we ever had to make, but one that has made all the difference for our son and family.
As parents of a son was going down a very dark and destructive path, and one in which we were extremely concerned for our son's life; we can truly say that TW helped to save our son from a path that very likely would have ended up in death, serious legal consequences, or a broken family. It was scary as hell to put our trust in strangers and drop our son off in the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from home. But now that he is back at home and doing so incredibly well, we can truly say it was the best decision either of us have ever made. We believe Turning Winds helped to save our son's life.
For the kids, it's tough work. And it's hard work for you parents. It's not a summer camp or a country club like so many of the other options we had reviewed. Rules are made, kept, and consequences delivered. They are taught to be responsible to themselves, but also to those around them. They are also built up, learn to believe in themselves, and are given all of the tools to grow into young adulthood in a safe and caring way. Our son will be a healthier, better, stronger man for having this experience.
We cannot say enough about the staff. They truly care. In many ways, they have become family and despite our son being back at home after many long months, there is regular communication and continued work...for our son and us, the parents. We dropped off a sixteen year old, whose behaviors and emotional condition were those of an 8 or 9 year old. Coming home, we felt we picked up a 16 year old who is far beyond his years from an emotional maturity standpoint and one who practices a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally, and spiritually.
In addition, the support system that we now have as a family and/or as individuals is really impressive. The staff is there for us and there are parent groups that exist while your child is in Turning Winds and after they graduate from the program. We join calls bi-weekly with parents who are just beginning their journey and others whose child is 5+ years removed. All with the intent of helping each other to get through those difficult times, to provide helpful advice and support when you need it, all sharing the common connection of individuals who at some point almost lost hope that we had lost our child forever, but now have hope and promise for a great future.
If you are at that crossroads and you just don't know what to do and what to believe, ask the TW staff if they can make a connection. We are more than happy to share our experience. We honestly don't know where we would be at this point had we not put our faith in the team at Turning Winds.

Amazing experience at Turning Winds. Truly life saving for both myself and my son. He was there for a year and he even graduated higschool a year early! He went from abusing drugs and wamting to drop out of highschool to a graduate and sober. I cannot stress enough what an amazing experience we had. The facility is beautiful and the whole staff is caring and kept me in the loop the whole time. Thank you so very much!

There are not enough words to describe how thankful I am for Turning Winds! They saved my son's life and for that I am ever grateful. Sending my son across the country to a place I had only seen in pictures was the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done. But I had done my resesarch for months and months, I knew it was the right decision. He was met with nothing but kindness and staff that truly cared about him and all the kids there.
Within a few weeks or so, I was talking to my son more than I did at home when he lived in the same house with me. From our weekly therapy calls with his therapst, the weekly letter he would write me and the Saturday calls, they were real conversations. The deeper he got into the program, the more authentic the conversations became. The more he experienced activites and trips the more he began to value himself and realize the contributions he could make in this world.
If I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. The hardest thing became the best thing I have ever done for him. I got my son back. He got his smile back. He laughed again.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They are some of the MOST caring, authentic, empathic, people I have ever met. They didn't just help Andrew - they helped all of us! We learned to become a family again with their help. They helped me through my fears of him coming home. They cared about all of us. I will forever be so thankful for each of them. They challenged him in ways he had never been challenged to get out of his comfort zone and becoming a leader of his peers.
When we left after 10 months, we both had a hole - we went in as strangers and we came out with a family on the other side of the country! I never expected that, but I'm glad to know they will always be a part of our lives.
They are amazing! Turning Winds is amazing! They are the cream of the crop when it comes to helping families and teens. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you.

What sets Sequoia apart is its fierce dedication to rebuilding lives, not just detoxing bodies. The program didn’t stop at flushing the drugs out; it dug deep into the why behind my addiction. Group therapy sessions were raw and real—strangers became lifelines as we shared our stories, failures, and fragile dreams of sobriety. The counselors were warriors, armed with expertise and empathy, tailoring treatment to fit my messy reality instead of some cookie-cutter plan. By the time I left, I wasn’t just clean; I was armed with tools to fight for myself. Sequoia didn’t just save me—it reignited a fire I thought addiction had snuffed out forever. If you’re lost in the grip of this disease, this place is a beacon worth running toward.

I consider myself very lucky to have ended up in her office for my assessment. (I truly believe it was not “by chance” and was no “accident”).
I say that because, in my experience, my success relied primarily on my ability to connect with my treatment provider. It played an essential part of my willingness to see things through and to fully open up. I needed to feel I was in a safe space. With someone who I could trust. Someone who I believed had my best interests in mind. Someone I felt had a genuine desire to aid in my recovery.
I proudly admit that she checked each and every one of those boxes. I had an instant connection with her and feel it remained that way, consistently, throughout the entirety of my treatment.
I owe her a giant “thank you” for her constant kindness, for her unique approach, and for her continued wisdom and encouragement.
She is an incredible asset to this field and the way that she genuinely care for those still suffering is inspiring and remarkably beautiful.

I really enjoyed my treatment here! My counselor Dustin King is awesome. I can tell he genuinely cares for his clients and helped me to become the best version of myself that I have been for a very long time. He takes time and actually listened to what I said and made me feel like a person with value and not just another client to get through the process. I feel like a better person than when I started. I learned so much from him- he is extremely knowledgeable about recovery and mental health and gave me resources and advice that was particular to me and what would work for me. Very good counselor!!!
Also wanted to mention Rylie, he was my weekly group leader. He is awesome too. Very smart and attentively listened to everyone in group and even when I didn’t understand what the person was saying, he did! And always had a comment to respond in wisdom and guidance and also appreciates everyone’s input. I learned a ton from group! Rylie is very kind and patient with people as well.
Any ways I just had to leave a review because I read reviews and this place deserves 5 stars. I’m really happy with my experience here!!!🙂

3yrs ago, my license was suspended because of an error made by NHCC. It took a long time for me to get to the bottom of what had actually happened. But when I did finally figure it out I went right over them and they fixed it straight away. 3 days later my license was released. I can't remember the last time I was so happy. I only wish it hadn't taken me so long to find the problem in the first place.

| American Behavioral Health Systems (ABHS) has medical detox and residential treatment for adults in Spokane, Washington. If you have a mental health concern alongside substance use, you can get dual diagnosis care. You can pay for treatment yourself, use insurance, or use Apple Health or Native American Title 19. Withdrawal can be scary, but with | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I just read the reviews for this place and allow me to retort.
First off this place saved my life. I checked into ABHS not knowing the program, their reputation, or the temperament of the staff.
The staff are a simply amazing!! Ms. B, Ms. Patrick, Ms. Moore, Ms. Womack, Mr. Torres, Mr. Van B., Mr. Prutsman, Ms. Wolf, Mr. Torres, Mr. Cuastic, Ms. Standfield, Ms. O’Brien, Mr. Guy, Ms. Aguilar, Ms. Dobins, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Hirtch, Ms. Brown, Ms. Chichester, Ms. Wagner, the 3 Mr. Gs, Ms. Pagan, Mr. O, Mr. Hemple, Mr. Dock, Ms. Sumptner, Ms. Bopa, Ms. Wilamu, Ms. Garcia, Ms. Fouler, Ms. Lee, Ms. Karris, Ms. Davy, Ms. Nguyen, Mr. Cooper, and to any of you that I am forgetting I want to tell you all that I will always remember you all. You all were my rock when I needed it, you called me on my sh!t, helped me grow and learn, and got me started on my path to sobriety.
Ms. Standfield there are no words, you were my life coach, my safe place, someone who I admire, someone I want to be like, and you don’t do it for praise or fame. You took me under your wing, gave me so so so many gold nuggets to put in my backpack you made me rich. You are wicked smart and taught me how my childhood trauma affected me and how to not be victim to it anymore. When the student is ready……the teacher presents themself.
Mr. Van B., Ms. Brown, Ms. Davy, Ms. Chichester, and Mr. Prutsman you are fair, just, straight forward, honest, and forgiving. You showed me compassion, empathy, support, guidance, gave me second chances, and did not let me self destruct. You all are the best example of what true leaders are really are. For those reviews that try to disrespect and put a stain on all the good you do well they are absolutely wrong.
To those that have anything negative to say about this place well some of your expectations are a bit far fetched. First don’t bring a child to see their parent in rehab. It’s traumatizing and that trauma causes addiction so way to go. Also no you can’t leave rehab and go to the store to buy contraband. You could have brought drugs into rehab causing a relapse or a overdose. What gives you the right to miss treat the staff and expect them to take it and allow you to stay. All of these behaviors are of someone not willing to commit to being sober. If you can’t learn to behave like normal people and follow rules in a safe place how can you expect to do that in the real world.
My point is this the program at ABHS is working for those that want to be sober. I have been to rehab 3 times and I just graduated on 6/18 and it’s the last time I am ever going to rehab because this place taught me how to stand up on my own two feet get past my abuse, my low self astern, looking for my worth from others, and help shape me into the man I am today.
Sure rehab has rules some of them may seem weird or even dumb at times but they are there to teach you to retrain you to prepare you as best they can so when you walk out of their doors into the real world you are ready to succeed at a sober life.
For those that got booted you know what if you would have apologized taken your lumps and showed that you were truly sorry for your acts they would have allowed you back in. ABHS doesn’t say no to anyone. They let you come back again and again. This is a good place run by people that are trying to save people’s lives. They’ve seen everything that you can think of and do the best they can. However, we as addicts have to meet them halfway if we don’t want it, what they teach won’t stick and we won’t be prepared and we will go back in use. It’s up to us to choose the right thing to make good choices and to heal if that’s what you want then this is the place you wanna go to because they will make sure with every fiber of their being to try and help you to teach you to show you empathy and compassion, in your darkest moment they are the light that guides you to a path of sobriety. And anyone says different than they weren’t ready to be sober in the first place.

Staff are very helpful and caring. They are very quick about doing things here. The food is decent, they should feed more but it's enough. They will work with patients/clients if they are struggling with being in treatment here. SUD (Substance Use Disorder) is a serious disease that requires the assistance of educated, compassionate and empathetic individuals to navigate and conquer. You will receive the help you need at Break Through if and when you are ready to live a substance free life. PHP (partial hospitalization program) is available during the day and the evening. It is time consuming but a necessary step in recovery. You will be surprised how fast you move through this section on to Intensive Outpatient then
Outpatient. No one is let to ‘slip through the cracks’ as another review stated. Each client receives one on one therapy. There are book studies, massage, yoga. EMDR is available if the staff feels it is necessary for your recovery. The facility is immaculate and up to date. Every employee and outside contractor is heavily vested in your recovery. Counselors. Group Leaders. Medical staff. Reception. Director. Yoga Instructor. Masseuse. You will rarely meet an employee there that is not in active recovery. In other words, they get it! The staff meets on a regular basis to review all clients. My group leader noticed a shift in me and asked staff to keep an eye on me. I did relapse soon after because I didn’t reach out for help. And yet again later in the program. Both times I ignored the warning signs. Each time it was handled professionally and compassionately but firmly. I knew that that second time was my final or I would be heading back to Inpatient. I am now 10 months sober. Was it easy? Hell no! The hardest part is walking through the door for the first time after finally choosing your recovery over addiction. Recovery does not look the same for any 2 individuals. Break Through operates on this premise and will guide you through to a life that even you didn’t imagine you could be living.

If you don't want to be in a rehab or need to be in one in general don't be in there just to Start Problems because there's people who do want the help & this place will help you so I definitely recommend it. If you say this place is bad , clearly you've never been to Foster Care cause this place Was Great. Idk How it is Now But my Experience there was Amazing.

So much so that I crashed my step fathers car I was borrowing into a lake and don’t remember a single bit of it. The next day, sitting in a jail cell, I told myself I had had enough. I have a friend that had gone to WTC so I called them first without even trying anywhere else and immediately knew this was the place for me. WTC and the counselors/staff that work there without a doubt saved my life. This place is fantastic, but don’t be fooled. If you go here, expect to work. It’s not sit around and watch tv rehab, you’re expected to do certain things and act certain ways. It sounds hard I know, but I promise you if you’re serious about getting help for yourself, even if you’re being forced by your parents to do this, please give WTC a chance. The work pays off 10 fold.

I attended WTC 3 years and 5 months ago, my first time trying out the sobriety aspect. This place saved my life and truly push me to change into the better person I am now. If I could comment on other people’s 1 star reviews. I would say. It sounds like those people were not willing to get sober. Making up excuses to make it sound like it wasn’t everything that it was cut out to be. Especially co dependent parents who comment saying not to send there parents to a place that will eventually help their kids out in the long run. All in all if you want to change your life. Go here, if you don’t. Then you truly haven’t hit your bottom in life.
I work in recovery now. Due to this program, my life has changed for the better and I have everything I could ever want to keep me happy in this life.

Sadly they have been shut down. 2 families sued them because their son’s ran away and were brought back by police. The boys were unharmed but apparently the families were angry enough to put them out of business. Very very very sad. It was a place that did a lot of good for a lot of people.

This is a disgusting display of your charity work to go and say such stuff about people you aren't helping properly. People aren't against helping the homeless and needy. They want you to step up and actually protect the people you are servicing. The problems don't just affect the business owners but also the people who live in the housing you oversee. Tenants are getting preyed on due to your lack of safety protocols and care. It is not baseless. Anyone can go down there and see the problems.

| American Behavioral Health- Mission Avenue is an alcohol, drug, and co-occurring disorder treatment center located in Spokane Valley, Washington. They provide a comprehensive approach to behavioral intervention, counseling, and education that helps people overcome difficulties in life so they can successfully reach their goals. American Behavioral | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I just read the reviews for this place and allow me to retort.

Don't come here if you're not willing to dig within yourself and get the pain out, as in "get it off your chest". My counselor was hard working, understanding and very helpful during my treatment here
