So, I am thrilled to be able to share with you that our daughter spent 8 months at Turning Winds, and it was the best decision that we ever made. It is a safe, supportive, comprehensive, family-oriented environment. Their 20 plus years of experience, incredibly dedicated staff, specialized attention to each individual and their choice of location in rural Montana has created a truly unique environment and opportunity for struggling teens to SLOW DOWN, evaluate the choices they are making, (ideally begin to understand why) , learn effective coping skills, to discover the reality that they themselves hold the key to creating a life worth living. Turning Winds is a co-ed facility; however, the boys and girls are kept primarily separated. Turning Winds is also a highly reputable therapeutic boarding school with a fantastic credit recovery program to help struggling teens get things academically back on track. Turning Winds works with the entire family unit to help untangle dysfunctional patterns, behaviors and relationships, teach effective communication skills, and provide the time and space for real healing to occur for the whole family. It is so hard to let go, accept our own powerlessness over our children’s behaviors or diagnosis, and accept the help we need as a family. Turning Winds is the place that will hold space for all your concerns, connect with your child in a real and lasting way, and help guide the whole family into a healthier way of living regardless of the struggles and challenges that make up our lives.

My son has been struggling for years with depression, anxiety, and unhealthy online relationships. As a parent, I felt helpless watching him withdraw from family, fail in school, and lose hope. Sending him to Turning Winds was the hardest decision I've made but it was also the best one. From day one, the staff surrounded him with compassion, structure, and genuine care. His therapist has been a true blessing-a strong, positive male role model who helped him understand his behaviors and rebuild his confidence. The teachers, nurses, and other staff completely transformed his life. He's now thriving in school, confident, and reconnecting with family. I'll forever be grateful to Turning Winds for helping my son find hope and happiness again. I can't thank them enough for their dedication, communication, and belief in their students. They truly care about saving lives and helping families heal.

best mental hospital in montana tbh, you get a personal chef and the windows are huge so the sunsets/rises are wild. the staff aren't half bad either.

Great environment. Most of the staff are amazing, with the occasional subpar staff member. Food is good and homemade. Therapists are good, professional, and focused on treatment. All around a good place if you need help.

Although my daughter has been here three times, each has been a God send. I’ve had nothing but amazing interactions with staff.

Was in this place once if you’ve ever been to Acadia Montana then you know that shodair treats their patients with humility and respect this place was truly awesome
