It was like walking into a different place. They understand they were nice, polite. They went out of the way to make sure they could help you in any way they could and the ones they have there. They are helping in every way they can. It's clean. It's it's got God's help. God has got his armor around that place and the people that work there and the people that go there they care about all them to go there and each other. It's like one big happy family a happy and understanding and hard times and good times. It's all of that and they're there for each other and everywhere I have seen other than this place. It's not like that. It's like you're a number. Okay, it's time for this. It's time for yourself. You know it is just it's very different and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure they get support. They get donations and help whatever they need because they're actually getting people help whether they're on the street or where they come there and they have a hump and that's that's important. It doesn't matter what lifestyle you come from. They're there to help these people and the ones I talk to the owner, the counselors, the other people, all of them. They have certain things that they have to do and it's like a well-ois machine. It's just you know I can't stand up about them and when I go to Washington I'm going to see what I can do there because they really need help and every state needs to have one. They need to have a facility like that because these people actually care. And like I said it's a family and I couldn't ask for anything better for my child. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I really couldn't have and I appreciate them and I pray for them every day and I hope whoever reads this y'all will too. You can call and you can call him. You can look at the place and it is what it says it is and the people they remind you of the people when the area the era that I lived in. They're respectful. They're respectful to you themselves. This was the best treatment center I have ever been to. The staff are so nice. The nurses are working so hard. The support staff are the best. My LAC Susan was especially the best I loved her. Alot of the staff are recovering attics and they are so understanding and they are doing great things. They have a lot of fun sober activities and go here if you are struggling!!!

Unequal Treatment of Religious Beliefs. An additional issue that came to light was the Crisis Center's apparent bias towards certain religious beliefs. While the facility allowed Christian crosses to be displayed openly, it reportedly refused to accommodate a pagan high priestess's request to wear her Mjolnir (Thor's hammer) necklace From The director herself Marcia, denying her the right to freely express her religious identity. This differential treatment of religious practices is not only a violation of the principle of equal rights, but it also signals a concerning lack of cultural sensitivity and understanding within the center's leadership. All individuals, regardless of their spiritual beliefs, should be afforded the same level of respect and the opportunity to practice their faith without discrimination.Unprofessional Conduct and Concerning Rumors. Beyond the specific incidents outlined above, the Crisis Center was also criticized for a general lack of professionalism among its staff. Clients reported encountering rude and dismissive behavior, as well as a pervasive attitude of indifference towards the needs and concerns of those seeking assistance. Furthermore, the facility had been the subject of concerning rumors within the Billings community long before my own experience there. Individuals I spoke with warned me about the mistreatment of clients, the staff's assumption that all service users were "drug addicts," and the overall poor reputation of the Crisis Center. These pre-existing concerns only served to further undermine the public's trust in the center's ability to provide adequate and compassionate care.Bright Spots and Recommendations It is important to note that not all aspects of my experience at the Crisis Center were negative. The security personnel, for example, were reported to be understanding and accommodating towards clients' needs, particularly those dealing with PTSD and domestic violence. Additionally, the compassion and understanding shown by a particular morning shift counselor on July 2nd, as well as the empathy displayed by an evening shift nurse from the South, provided some measure of hope that there are individuals within the organization who are committed to upholding the center's stated mission. And as a client I would highly recommend the specified people to further future jobs for understanding the oath that they took. However, these bright spots do not excuse the systemic issues and concerning patterns of behavior that I have outlined in this review. It is clear that the Crisis Center in Billings, Montana is in dire need of a comprehensive overhaul, both in terms of its staff training and the overall organizational culture

Review of the Crisis Center in Billings, Montana (2024-07-02)
Introduction
The Crisis Center in Billings, Montana is an organization that is intended to provide support and resources for individuals facing various crises, including homelessness, domestic violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse. However, based on my recent experience seeking assistance at this facility, I am deeply concerned about the level of care and professionalism demonstrated by the staff.
This review will outline numerous issues I observed during my time at the Crisis Center, including a lack of compassion towards a domestic violence survivor, unprofessional conduct from staff members, inadequate communication about policies, and a fundamental disregard for the unique needs of marginalized clients. While there were some bright spots, such as the understanding shown by security personnel and the compassion of a particular counselor, the overall experience left me feeling deeply troubled about the center's ability to effectively serve the vulnerable populations it claims to support.
Lack of Compassion Towards a Domestic Violence Survivor
One of the most concerning incidents I witnessed during my time at the Crisis Center was the treatment of a fellow client who was a survivor of domestic violence. On the night of July 1st, 2024, this individual arrived at the center seeking refuge and support. However, rather than being met with empathy and understanding, she was subjected to a severe lack of compassion from the night shift nurse.
The nurse's tone was described by other clients as "malicious" and "devoid of any warmth or concern." When the domestic violence survivor attempted to explain her situation and request assistance, the nurse responded with blatant indifference, going so far as to say, "If you don't like it, you can go find someplace else to live." This callous and dismissive attitude towards an individual in such a vulnerable state is entirely unacceptable and a clear violation of the ethical standards expected of healthcare professionals.
Lack of Patience and Effective Communication
Another issue that was repeatedly observed at the Crisis Center was the staff's lack of patience and unwillingness to engage in meaningful communication with clients. In particular, MEG, was noted for her tendency to overwhelm clients with information without allowing them sufficient time to process and understand what was being said. Many clients reported feeling rushed and frustrated, unable to fully comprehend the details of their cases or the available resources due to MEGs rapid-fire delivery and unwillingness to pause and ensure understanding. This lack of effective communication is a significant barrier to the center's ability to provide comprehensive support and empower clients to make informed decisions about their own care.
Failure to Explain Policies and Procedures
Closely tied to the communication issues, the Crisis Center was also criticized for its failure to adequately explain the rationale behind its policies and procedures to clients. When clients inquired about the reasoning behind certain rules or requirements, they were often met with dismissive responses, such as the aforementioned "if you don't like it, you can go elsewhere" statement This lack of transparency and unwillingness to engage in open dialogue undermines the center's ability to build trust and foster a collaborative environment. Clients deserve to understand the factors that inform the policies they are expected to adhere to, particularly when those policies may have a significant impact on their well-being and access to essential services.

Dr Bakko I was referred to for administering multiple tests. As part of this he interviewed me and I am very poor at that. He helped keep me focused and many times had to patiently go back to probe deeper to clarify and really understand what I was saying. Because of my emotions, it’s like a freight train driving through his office. He’s gifted.
The tests were administered in a very private, proffessional, clean, and quiet area. He is very organized and proffessional.
He reviewed my answers and again made it very comfortable and open to discuss why I answered the way I did. He asked many different questions to understand my concerns. He was very patient and caring to make sure he understood my answers.

This is a pirated review. I have never been to Cedar Mountain Center. This review was from when I fell and hit my head and had a blot clot between my brain and my skull. The emergency room staff took great care of me and transferred me to Billings where I was in intensive care for 5 days. Everyone was very professional. They all too excellent care of me. Cedar Mountain Center was a life changing experience for me. They genetically & psychologically tested me. Then individually treated me to my specific needs in addiction and toxic traits. I learned life skills and dialectical skills that have changed my life in ways I never thought possible. The directors of this program know what they are doing. The counselors and case managers are amazing at what they do. The nurses and staffing are the kindest caring people I have ever met. I was on a life ending path in life to either death or prison. This place & these people saved my life & helped me become the person myself , my wife and my children needed . If your sick and you need help please take that first step and get help . If your looking for a treatment that will WORK and give you what you need this is the place. They don’t have fancy commercials & palm trees but they do have pretty sunrises over the mountains & people that care . My time at CMC was a blessing when I needed one. I found a staff that cared for their clients to the core of their being. They are holistic in their approach to the treatment of substance abuse issues, in combination with behavioral health. The staff works like a well oiled machine, constantly improving their techniques and approaches to best serve their clients. I left with a lot more knowledge and tools for self care than I came in with, as well as the confidence to be able to deal with life on life's terms.

Went last week for my first appt. after moving to the area. Wow like all the reviews have said everyone is nice and caring. I absolutely love my new doctor, Doctor Donahue she listened to what my concerns were and then we talked about those and everything else. The staff is friendly and caring with your best out come the major goal I really enjoy working with everybody I’ve been in contact with, and if anyone’s having problems with opioid addiction or any addiction, this would be a good place to start your road to recovery. It’s been a lifesaver for me. *Update* Aug 14, 2025, I hope that anyone who suffers a disease of addiction, or any other diseases finds their way to a good doctor or group of doctors to help you begin recovery. I highly recommend Project Recovery, as a disabled man who suffers from chronic pain and was addicted to morphine. They really care, and you can't find a more understanding group of people committed to your best life. If you need help, go here. All the best to whoever reads this review. My counselor Rhiannon is super helpful! She genuinely has my best interest at heart and she gives me resources/literature/& helps me with positive coping skills! It's hard finding a good counselor that's a perfect fit for you but I genuinely think Rhiannon is a great counselor :)
Also Shyla the receptionist is so kind and patient and always willing to help!
I know there's also intensive outpatient programs available!
Overall I would definitely recommend this counseling center to anyone seekinging behavioral health help in Thermopolis.

As a graduate student who had the opportunity to complete a rotation at Wyoming Behavioral Institute, I was genuinely impressed by the level of care and compassion demonstrated by the staff. Prior to my experience, the general perception I had heard was that patients were not always treated well; however, I found the exact opposite to be true. The team at WBI is deeply committed to supporting both patients and their families, working diligently to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for healing.
Mental health treatment can be challenging, especially when individuals struggle to engage with the resources and interventions available due to the nature of their illnesses. For parents, it can also be difficult to place their trust in others when their children are receiving care away from home. At times, communication challenges or differing perspectives between patients and families can make understanding the full picture complex.
Overall, my experience at WBI was incredibly meaningful. Dr. Danczik and Dr. Martorano do an excellent job balancing the patient flow and the psych NPs are excellent as well! I gained a great deal of respect for all of the professionals who work there and the effort they put forth to ensure the well-being of every individual in their care. I am truly grateful for the experience and the insight it provided into the compassionate side of behavioral healthcare.

I would highly recommend Dr. Danczik as the best psychiatrist I have ever had since dealing with my mental illness since 1983. I have been in WBI numerous times since 2014. When I got released from WBI in 2023 I picked WBI outpatient to see Dr. Dancsik on a regular schedule for medication management and treatment. I have been in remission under his professional care which is a great relief for me because I would have episodes at least once a year prior to being under his care. Kudos to Dr. Danczik!
