I really appreciate how kind and courteous everyone is. It took a while to get an initial appointment to see a new psychiatrist and therapist when I first moved to the area, but there is such a nationwide shortage of mental health workers, it's totally understandable. I now have a therapist I see twice a week, a psychiatrist I see once a month, an IHH caseworker, AND a peer support counselor all in one place! Plus, they offer telehealth, making it convenient for people like me who can't drive and have limited access to transportation.

I have been going to UCS for over 10 years now for everything from medication assisted treatment to mental health care to getting a check up. I felt the need to write a review because I have noticed a significant change in the way patients are being treated and it is amazing to see that they are no longer putting a focus on punitive ideology and instead are listening to the reason for the trouble they are having. It is very refreshing to see. I also have a Human Services degree and a focus on getting my CADC certification so I can help people who are now going through what I spent years of my life trying to get past. I have seen a shift from the status quo and punishment for cannabis related issues. Which is also a big reason I am able to cope with PTSD and not even think about taking another painkiller for my own reasons. I hope that I can see a further bridging of the disconnect that still remains within the treatment community between patients and caregivers. It is a good start UCS!! THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO US!!

She taught me so much & to this day I am still so thankful I went here. If u truly wanna change ur life this place is it but u have to want it and be ready to do it 100% put ur all in like it’s ur last chance at life great counselor ‘s that care about you and nice staff that treat u human great place if ur serious about changing ur life u can have nicotine patches and lozenges no chew or cigarettes most people get kicked out when caught if ur thinking ur gonna just sit through some classes mute you are so wrong you are gonna read ur life story in front of everyone and dig deep because if it ain’t accurate do it again u will read aloud every day or give feed back to the individuals that are sharing their assignments basically you’re gonna have to put in the work or get called out on BS so if ur not wanting to truly change ur life and be clean and sober then don’t use a spot someone else could have to get clean and sober be greatful you actually have an opportunity to turn your life around and be that son or that Father or husband you know u can be sober and clean you owe ur self and the ones around you that much a lot of people dont get a chance or second chance. If you really want it it’s really up to you.

I went to the treatment center at Zion in Clarinda. It was the best experience. The staff was amazing. The building was clean. They made sure you were always taken care of. They helped me tremendously. I felt like a new person after 28 days. I HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone taking the step to recovery. My personal experience was AWESOME.

New life Counseling is a wonderful place to seek guidance in any stage of your life. Dr. Don Gilbert is a man of god that uses Christs teachings to guide and help when you seek his counseling. He will take the time to personally connect with you and is not afraid to speak about his life experiences as examples and to let you know that you are not alone in tough times in your life. I have referred Dr. Don to many friends and after speaking to him, I am thanked for putting him him their path. Knowing that he has helped me in so many levels, personalty, spiritually and mentally. Also to seed friends change from his guidance is amazing. Dr. Don will show love but he will also tell you the things you don't want to hear about yourself. I haven't personally been a patient here, but I have had several friends complete the inpatient program for substance abuse, and they all seemed to like it. I know you can still smoke cigarettes, but no cell phones the first few weeks and limited if any contact at all with the outside world. It's coed, so that probably helps people when making a decision for an inpatient facility. Especially when we're talking 30+ days or more, detoxing off any and all things good, lol! The entrance to check in is tricky to find too, it's actually on the back side, or really, it might even be the side of the building under an awning. Hit the buzzer, and someone comes to help you get checked in.

I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

I’ve been a patient here since 2016. My life is completely different and will continue to be thanks to the offering of medication assisted sobriety. The number one priority is you communicate with your counselor and the Doctor. Once you reach the dose your body needs the real changes begin. No more will you have to just get through the day because you’re sick or spend your entire paycheck to try and get enough to get through another week. The staff is made up of angels. Everyone is there to help us get better and live better. If you’re sick of being sick give the program a try. They only requirements are the desire for a better life and to stop abusing.

Overall I've had good service from my practitioner. I mainly go to the pain management clinic. Megan is great! Very professional and easy to talk to. A few years ago, I had physical therapy there with I think it was Chris, not real sure but he was easy to work with. The only thing that I really don't like is how far it is. Now, I have mobility issues and know I wouldn't be able to walk all that way, so I choose to go elsewhere. Another issue I had was with one of the doctors at the Cityville clinic. He kept on insisting that I was faking my breathing problems, because he didn't understand what I was trying to say. They put me in a room, and I waited for 2 hours, all while having a difficult time breathing and on top of that, I started to have a panic attack. I had to call my boyfriend that was waiting outside in the car to bring me a rescue inhaler and my anxiety medication. After I calmed down a bit, I told the nurse I was leaving. I even think the doctor claimed I was only there at the clinic to get meds. He claimed I was showing signs of med seeking behavior. Uh-huh, I call BS, NEVER! I HAVE NEVER sought out medication from an Urgent Care Clinic or an ER because of a habit. All I know is, I think that was the last time I went to that clinic. Also, the Dental Clinic - Who has the time to sit at the dentist for a "wish you the best of luck-cattle call" to see if you make it on the magical list to be seen that morning/day? Absolutely ridiculous! Come on- can't you do better than that? But as I started out with for the most part, I've had good experiences.

Broadlawns has done amazing things for me in both their Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic and even more maybe in Physical Therapy. I have been to PT there 4 times for 4 separate issues. (I have a chronic illness.) I have also done physical therapy elsewhere several times and twice before for one of the same issues at another provider. Broadlawns PT blows them all out of the water. I have received life-changing physical therapy for pain I have tried to manage for years ta none of this other PT seemed to touch. Before Broadlawns I had started to think PT was useless and now it has made a huge difference in my life!

Ive gone to the homeless center numerous times and can honestly say I dont know what i would do without them. When available they have helped my family with transportation, direction to food pantry as well as clothing AND I've seen shower here too!!! They are there to aid you in your transition, but they make you feel so welcome. Thank you to Ms. Faye for always being respectful and patient with me. Abigail is super sweet and understanding while Jenna keeps things in order and manageable. I have so much love for Ms. Paula that I can't even fathom not seeing her for a long period. My daughter loves her and asks about her everyday. The love I've received here was unmatched. Thank you all for the roles you've played in my transition.

Most of the post I see are from people who came and failed the program or a family member who is upset their family chose to walk out. Center pointe is a great place that’s helping people recover and get their lives back , it’s up to the individual to take accountability and work to make their lives better . This treatment center changed my whole life around. At first I didn’t want the help and didn’t think I needed it. I don’t know about the drs but their rehab program is the best they work on your mental health and get to the root causes of your addiction I was also in a lot of physical pain and I got to go to physical therapy and they were great also…

I’ve been a patient here since 2016. My life is completely different and will continue to be thanks to the offering of medication assisted sobriety. The number one priority is you communicate with your counselor and the Doctor. Once you reach the dose your body needs the real changes begin. No more will you have to just get through the day because you’re sick or spend your entire paycheck to try and get enough to get through another week. The staff is made up of angels. Everyone is there to help us get better and live better. If you’re sick of being sick give the program a try. They only requirements are the desire for a better life and to stop abusing.
