I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

Overall I've had good service from my practitioner. I mainly go to the pain management clinic. Megan is great! Very professional and easy to talk to. A few years ago, I had physical therapy there with I think it was Chris, not real sure but he was easy to work with. The only thing that I really don't like is how far it is. Now, I have mobility issues and know I wouldn't be able to walk all that way, so I choose to go elsewhere. Another issue I had was with one of the doctors at the Cityville clinic. He kept on insisting that I was faking my breathing problems, because he didn't understand what I was trying to say. They put me in a room, and I waited for 2 hours, all while having a difficult time breathing and on top of that, I started to have a panic attack. I had to call my boyfriend that was waiting outside in the car to bring me a rescue inhaler and my anxiety medication. After I calmed down a bit, I told the nurse I was leaving. I even think the doctor claimed I was only there at the clinic to get meds. He claimed I was showing signs of med seeking behavior. Uh-huh, I call BS, NEVER! I HAVE NEVER sought out medication from an Urgent Care Clinic or an ER because of a habit. All I know is, I think that was the last time I went to that clinic. Also, the Dental Clinic - Who has the time to sit at the dentist for a "wish you the best of luck-cattle call" to see if you make it on the magical list to be seen that morning/day? Absolutely ridiculous! Come on- can't you do better than that? But as I started out with for the most part, I've had good experiences.

Broadlawns has done amazing things for me in both their Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic and even more maybe in Physical Therapy. I have been to PT there 4 times for 4 separate issues. (I have a chronic illness.) I have also done physical therapy elsewhere several times and twice before for one of the same issues at another provider. Broadlawns PT blows them all out of the water. I have received life-changing physical therapy for pain I have tried to manage for years ta none of this other PT seemed to touch. Before Broadlawns I had started to think PT was useless and now it has made a huge difference in my life!

Ive gone to the homeless center numerous times and can honestly say I dont know what i would do without them. When available they have helped my family with transportation, direction to food pantry as well as clothing AND I've seen shower here too!!! They are there to aid you in your transition, but they make you feel so welcome. Thank you to Ms. Faye for always being respectful and patient with me. Abigail is super sweet and understanding while Jenna keeps things in order and manageable. I have so much love for Ms. Paula that I can't even fathom not seeing her for a long period. I have been going to UCS for over 10 years now for everything from medication assisted treatment to mental health care to getting a check up. I felt the need to write a review because I have noticed a significant change in the way patients are being treated and it is amazing to see that they are no longer putting a focus on punitive ideology and instead are listening to the reason for the trouble they are having. It is very refreshing to see. I also have a Human Services degree and a focus on getting my CADC certification so I can help people who are now going through what I spent years of my life trying to get past. I have seen a shift from the status quo and punishment for cannabis related issues. Which is also a big reason I am able to cope with PTSD and not even think about taking another painkiller for my own reasons. I hope that I can see a further bridging of the disconnect that still remains within the treatment community between patients and caregivers. It is a good start UCS!! THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO US!!

I was blessed to be able to come to St Gregory Recovery Center for help with alcohol addiction. I am over one year sober now thanks to the caring and knowledgeable staff. Their approach is evidence based and scientific, but also faith based. I experienced God working in my life to help take away my urges to drink and change my thought patterns. I also learned to live the 7 virtues with a great group of peers who all supported each other! Thanks to what I learned at St. Gregory, with a clear and sober head I am able to address and “fix” other flaws and weaknesses as well. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.

Urban Dreams is an amazing organization who have been helping the community for 40 years.Many programs, an affordable housing project in the works, and super nice and dedicated staff. I had to take alcohol classes at Urban dreams December 2024, and I can honestly say it was a very positive experience. The staff at Urban Dreams were always professionals, respectful, and supportive, which made the process much easier to go through. Our Instructor, Kristen Steele, went above and beyond in every class. She was not only knowledgeable but also approachable, making sure that everyone felt comfortable and understood the material. Kristen shared a lot of valuable information that wasn't just about completing a requirement, but about really learning how alcohol can impact our lives and how to make better choices moving forward. I also had a substance abuse evaluation with Felicia Chumley, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is one of the kindest, most attentive people I've met in this process. Felicia made feel completely comfortable from the start, which really helped me open up and be honest about my situation. Felicia made what could have been a stressful experience into something positive and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Urban Dreams to anyone who needs this classes or simply wants to gain more understanding about alcohol and its effects.

I have been using this clinic for a long time and have had nothing but good experiences. The staff has always been great and I've received the care I needed when I needed it. I feel the VA gets bad press because of a few isolated incidents and people giving bad reviews tend to be the loudest. I know of a few other veteran friends of mine that have had great service as well from the VA.

I was reading through these comments and I wanted to address a few things. I've been there for 3 months. I've been at another treatment centers in the past like UCS. A lot of the things the comments are true about places like UCS. Where they shame patient or we're running some sort of financial scam. Covert action is absolutely not one of those places. Everyone always very friendly to me I feel like I have a room full of friends every time I go there. My counselor is lovely she's always very sweet to me shes concerned legitimately about my needs. They're very well priced I think it's $70 for a week if you don't have insurance. Which is only $5 a day and as a user I always seem to be able to scrounge up enough money to get high I can definitely come up with 5 bucks and I did. The program is effective is the first time that I've been cleaned in nearly 15 years. This will be the first Christmas I've been sober with my family. But not only save lives there but they give you a life worth saving. And I saw some comments about Judy and I think she is an absolute darling I love her to death and she is the nicest most caring doctor I've ever met in my entire life. She always remembers my name just by my face. And she always treats me like a long lost friend. I look forward to speaking with her every month when I come to get my renewal. All in all it's a wonderful place and I thank them very much for giving my life back 😀
